Im averaging about 30 minutes...any tips =).

do tetris as much as you can in the early level cause once you reach level 13 and above, you pretty much just surviving on singles and doubles.

Yes Do as many tetrises as possible in the early going, at all costs go fot tetrises, you get bonus lines for doing them so it moves you through the first 11 or so levels much faster.  Then just go for singles and doubles the last 3 levels or so and hope you make it!

I was getting 20 mins 9 seconds, 20 mins 25 seconds, and it was annoying, then a few tries later I hit a ton of tetrises and got in the zone and cleared it all in 17 minutes!

I haven't gotten this achievement yet, but I have been following the "get as many tetrises as you can" idea and it has cut down my time drastically (used to average about 40 minutes, now I"m averaging 23)

I am having real trouble getting this achievement, i cant seem to beat the 23 minute mark.

I can reach level 10 in under 7 minutes (should i be reaching level 10 earilier to get this achievement?).

Has anyone got any markers on what level i should be up to at what time?

Am i right in asuming if you have 1 line to go before the next level and you get a tetris then it doesnt deduct a further 7  lines from the next level?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you can set up t~spins they will help you even more. If you can't set them up, practice. They will take off 12 lines from your goal vs. 8 with a tetris. Here is my video clearing level 15 in 4:19.

Although you made it look easy, i am finding it very hard to make the left hand side of the screen (BELOW):

that's a good spot to insert a T-block to make a T spin.

A way to insert a T spin is by shaping your blocks into a T and then scrolling your T block down> when it touches the blocks, press left or right trigger twice to fit the shape in between the blocks and there you go, a T spin.

For speedster, all I did was tetrises through 14 and a mixture of everything at 15.
By doing that, I produced 7 minutes

tspins take a little time to get used to, if you really want to go fast right now, just do the line tetrises.  They're just easier and you dont' ahve to waste time thinking about how to set up your tspins.
 but if you insist on using tspins, learn tspins first then go for the achievement.

Tetrises are deffinately easier to set up than t~spins if you're not used to doing them. That would be the easiest way to do it. But if you want some t~spin advice, for what it is, read on.

Lets see, tips for stacking the left side.....

This is a common way that I start:

            OO
     I      OO
     IT  JLS       Z
     ITTJLSS   ZZ
     ITJ JLLS   Z


To make the notch for the T piece to spin into on the left side, I most commonly use the S (greeen) and the L (orange) pieces.

Throw the S down:


  SS
SS

Then stack the L on top of it:

L L L
L SS
SS


When repeated, you always have a flat surface on top. Of course depending on what pieces are coming. You could also stack them like this:

S
SS
LS
L
LL

You'll just have to fill in the rest with mainly the J (blue), O (yellow) and I (when you'ar not holding them for tetrises) pieces. Other than that, I can't think of too much off the top of my head. You can do it with virtually any of the pieces, so don't think this covers everything. The main point of advice I could say is to practice. If you have to, juggle the pieces to your hearts content to get them in the right place while you're learning how to get the stacking right, then tackle the 20 minute achievement. Watch other video's of ST stacking. I have one that I did for Tetris Evolution, and it is different than this one since you only have a 3 piece preview versus the 5 for Splash. It's on my YouTube page. Go check out tetrisconcept.com too, that is the best website for all things Tetris.

Don't know what I was doing before, but after reading this thread I decided to give it another go.  Got it first try, with 17 minutes and managed to climb to the top of my friends leaderboard.  Could have sworn I went for Tetrises before, but I guess I was mistaken.  Now all that is left, is the ten hours...

Finanlly got it (19:07) thanks for all your help.

A couple of tips i have for low to average tetris players who are going for this achievement are:

1. Try to go for as many tetrises as possible (1 - 15 all the way through if possible).

2. Dont look at the top of the screen (where the tetronome is coming from), look at the ghost of the tetronome and drop it when it gets to the right position (this is the main thing that i was doing wrong in my earlier attempts).

Hope this helps a couple of people.

I tried the T-Spin method for quite awhile.  It just causes me to think to much though.  That video is unreal though.  Anyway, I just stuck with going for tetrises.  Took awhile, but the 20 minute mark finally fell.  Now after a few hours of online play, I'll being signing the 200/200 list.  That might take awhile though.  I'm all Tetrised out for the time being.  The  Speedster achievement has had me playing too much Tetris lately.

Yeah, trying to do all tetrises and t~spins does make you think. Congrats on finally getting your achievment. I know what you mean by being tetrised out.... I been 'all vdieo gamed out' lately... Haven't been playing much of anything lately... Oh well, I'll pick it up again at some point. You'll get the online expert achievement in no time once you start playing again.

I think if they aren't getting this at the first attempt you probably shouldn't be recommending t-spins.
I would say concentrate on getting them down as fast as possible an just go for tetrises (tetri?), I'd never done a t-spin when I got this achievement! When you've got the hang of that practice t-spins, they're a pain in the *** at first but after practice you wont believe you ever played the game without them!

For speedster the only thing you can really do is practice. For old school, if you are having issues with automatically hitting the hold button without thinking, remap the controls.

I guess this tip should be applied when playing Tetris, period. Makes sense.

I can do 40 lines in just under 2mins! The trick to it though is practice, focus on tetrising & slip in a few t-spins. I averege 17mins for marathon, not great but good for me.
