Good Defenses

What are the best defenses to use in this game to stop the pass?  I've been trying my butt off to get the shutout ach. but no luck make it to the sixth period and the computer always through a long pass that I can't do anything about.  Please help!!!! This game is driving me up the wall.   Alright I'm done venting.  Thanks.

Let me ask you "What would Chuck Norris do?"

Against the computer?  Safety Blitz every play, no matter which team or where on the field you are.  If you're good at makin up ground, take the side with two guys on it (especially if you recognize the play coming and know which side they'll motion to), otherwise take the wide side of the field (again, the side with two guys if you're in the middle.)  If there is a tight end in the play, always cover him.  If there are two, guess and pray.  :)

If you're talking about Tournament, on the other hand, ILB Blitz, 3-4, Safety, and Flat Nickel.  ILB Blitz is weak against a deep pass.  Safety is good all around if you know the quarterback is slow and you can predict the run.  Switch to 3-4 once the quarterback can juke your safety all day.  Flat Nickel stops most run plays cold, but can be weak against bounce passing if you're unprepared.  I know some who swear by Cornerback Blitz or OLB Drop, but they're only truly effective in doubles, and only if both players know their jobs on that play.  (Of course, you're probably talking about playing against the computer since you're posting here, but just in case you find it in an arcade somewhere...)

Yeah i'm talking about this game... and yep sad to say on the easy mode, like I said i'll woop the computers butt up to the sixth period and then......... bam old school sport video game comeback mode goes into effect.  The run i have no problem stopping just the pass.  Thanks for your insight though.

The best tip I can tell you if you REALLY need the shutout achievement, then it seems the best thing you can do is run out the clock, make sure you take all year to run plays, let the timer countdown, if you can do that, you restrict the CPU's abillity to pull off the long pass by limiting his plays to run.

Re: Good Defenses
pick pitsburg and score a touchdown...
run out the clock every play offense and defense
pick safety blitz and stay back far enough you can attack or block a pass or runner
lob the ball to your running back and pick running plays to the far left or right
