Where is the original sound?????
Where the heck is the Thump-Thump Thump-Thump sound from the original Asteroids? Nobody in testing and designing this game noticed this??? Are you kidding me? That was only one of the most famous sound effects of all time and it's not here? That's TOTALLY LAME. What a joke.

I agree with you. These game testers actually get paid like weathermen even when they mess up !!! Leaving that sound out is like leaving the du-du...du...du.....du,du out of Jaws !I'm glad i have the Atari Anniversary xbox (its B/C) game as it has Asteroids and Missle Command (minus evolved of coarse) and many other titles and i got it new last year for 9.99 at a local game store.

I find it amazing that the 'heartbeat' sound is missing, too.

Overall, this is a great conversion, but this isn't any old game, it's Asteroids for goodness sake - you'd expect a perfect conversion!

That, and the fact that you can't remap the controller buttons marrs what otherwise would have been an almost faultless 400 MS points worth!

Good news -  the sound will be fixed in an update.

Anyone who likes Asteroids would be daft not to buy this!

It's not ideal, but at least they're going to do something about it, unlike Konami (the 'Frogger' gameplay bugs, 'Time Pilot' distorted graphics).

How can we tell when this update is released? I really do want to buy this but I can't support sloppy software releases like this. The day this sound issue is fixed I'll buy it.

It really pissed me off that Frogger lacked the original music. At the time I couldn't find anyone else who agreed with me and could remember!! Which I find astonishing since the Frogger music in the arcade was as classic as the thump thump thump of Asteroids. IMHO

I just don't get how crap like this gets released. Sorry, but having terrible sound emulation on the 360 for 25+ year old games is a disgrace. I never commented on Frogger myself because I thought it was so bad I deleted it immediately and never gave it a second thought. But the sound is also screwed up on Tempest, another lousy release. Sad....

Good news huh? It's been over 2 months and there is still no fix.

Pathetic....

I agree, the amount of stuff there getting away with on these release arcade classics is getting a little ridiculous.  I think the blame is on both sides (Game devs / XBOX Live).   Definitely needs to be some better communications on both sides of this situation.

I really wanted to pick up some of the classics, but I try the demos and think "wtf".

No option to remap controls, and no option for full wide screen view are my biggest beefs.

When I have more enjoyment playing the games in Flash-based arcades, you know there's a problem.

Re: Where is the original sound?????

yes  that Sound was very common in all the Arcades, is kind of like the tuwioooo  wooo  chomp  chomp chomp   of the PacMan, anyway, hopefuly somebody from Atari fix this soon...

by the way, does somebody remember a simmilar game of  Asteroids, but instead of 1 spaceship.....there was 2 with a line , something about Duo i remember was the title...

that game deserve a Game in the 360 in HD, very fun to play

also "Two tiger"   do you remember that?

The game you are talking about is Space Duel. Another excellent old school game. But why bother? This dev team from Atari sucks and they'd just *** that up too. Oh yea, nice lying about them fixing the sound on Asteroids. NOT!
