Backyard - Super Class Help Please
OK, I don't anyone can help me with this, but I am dreadfully stuck on the Super Class of the Backyard. It's the fight with the soldier and his dog. I know you have to kill both him and his dog to get all 3 stars, but after I land a perfect on the dog (first move) with a ring that posions him (the only way to kill him since he has 1 million hit points), he hits me once, which is for about 12,000 damage. I have a skill that keeps me at 1HP once a battle, so then I am able to start working on the guard, but the moment the dog dies, the guard attacks me and kills me in 1 hit. What the heck do I have to do? I'm at Lv. 77 now.

Well. id love to help but im stuck on light class. As for the guard, it looks like its designed to be a pain, but im sure there is a secret to it. I wonder if you can cast death on him, or maybe there is a way to negate his damage.Possibly a secret lies in beating the sorceress in the temple. I honestly dont know, im just throwing ideas out.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

I figured it out - it took forever, but I had to use all 4 immortals. Pretty much, you gotta use the skill that leaves you at 1 HP if you recieve fatal damage, and the "use ultimate barrier in a pinch" skill. Then you gotta poison the pooch, then start wailing on the soldier. Took me over 20 min but each immortal would eventually come back to life again so I managed to win.

Actually I cleared all 5 classes now and the only acheivements (currently 960/1000) i am missing is the one for ming (just a matter of time, gotta go get more SP) and the treasure one, which it seems no japanese person can seem to get either. I bet they'll do a download item that lets you know the treasures you are missing... Collecting all 99 木の実 seeds SUCKED but managed to do it - you have to in order to get the last skill.

Anyway, if you need any help on the Backyard, just let me know!

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

So there's 99 of those suckers is there? Cool, already found about 80 or so, now I have a target.

I still have to do the skills for all the immortals, the backyard stuff (which I am dreading because I fear it will be a snooze fest like most arena-type stuff), and the treasure collecting.

Is it worth doing the backyard? Do you get anything out of it besides achievements? I need a bigger carrot than that to get motivated Stick out tongue [:P] I haven't even done the light class yet.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

The backyard achievements were my most favorite in the game. There's only 4 enemies per class and the achievements aren't for killing them over and over - it's for killing them a certain way. It makes it both fun and challenging. I highly suggest you going to the backyard!

One problem with the games achievements is EVERYTHING is linked to the Temple of Enlightment, which is a long, and tough dungeon (unique though). By beating it, you'll get the last spell (needed for the Spell Achievement), a few treasures (needed for the Treasure Achievement) and in the dungeon is the item to unlock the Super Heavy class in the Backyard (needed for both the Super Heavy and Immortal class achievements). If that doesn't make things worse, you'll need to get the backyard achievements and collect all 99 seeds to get the last 2 accessories that have skills that you'll need to learn to unlock all 4 skill achievements.

So to wrap things up, you'll need to beat the Temple of Enlightment in order to unlock 8 achievements. :(

But seriously, the Backyard is far from a snooze fest - it's short and well-thought out - give it a shot. Oh, and you do get about 12 skill nuts, and a kick-butt sword and ring for Kaim by beating Immortal Class in the backyard, as well as an item that absorbs ALL elements - wahoo! I only wish they let you try all classes in the backyard without having to 'unlock' them.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

OK, sounds not too bad. I was thinking it would be some 40 round arena type deal but if it's only a few fights per class I can handle that. And if the battles are well thought-out even better.

I have no problem with going to the Temple of Enlightenment, I like slugging through a tough dungeon. I'm just waiting for the guide to come out on the 28th now so I can wrap all this up. I've done so much running backwards and forwards in this game already that now I just want to be told where I have to go and who to kill. Smile [:)]

How many hours have you racked up in the game now?

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please
I spent 79 hours and besides from a few treasures, wherever they may be, and about 1 hour of leveling up Ming, I have completed the game 100%. I spent about 10 hours in the Temple of Enlightment alone, going from lv. 60 to 82 with everyone :p I did use the Japanese Wiki Strategy guide which has everything from where to get all 99 seeds, etc. The only thing it is lacking is a GOOD guide to the Temple of Enlightment. Even though I am 99% done with the game, I'll buy the guide as well (Dec. 26, wasn't it?) as it's bound to list where the treasures are so I can go hunt 'em down, also any additional art would be nice to have.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

Amazon has it listed as being released on the 28th. 2 days is hardly going to make a difference anyway Smile [:)]

I buy guides for all the good RPGs, one to know where everything is and two for all the extra art and stuff you usually get. I hope LO's is a good one. I was also thinking of getting the Prima Limited Ed guide as well but I can't find any info on what's in it, only that it costs $10 more.

79 hours is pretty short, even if you were using Wiki a lot. I thought it would have taken longer than that.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

For some reason I finished Blue Dragon really fast too... I finished that one in 38 hours and that's after doing several hours of killing kelolon to get SP. Who knows, maybe my random encounter rate is lower by the mercy of the gods :p

Most Japanese sites are quoting the game hours at 60 (10 hours are not counted as the game's timer stops for 10 hrs. worth of scenes apparently). I found a small 'hot spot' that allowed me to gain a LOT of SP without actaully spending that many hours. At the Numara Atoll, there are 4 small patches of sand. I go to the upper left patch, and I run around in circles to the left of the 3 rocks there. For some reason, I find that I get the 2 silver kelolons a lot more often there, and that'll net you 32 SP easy if you have double SP on. Also, in general, that area's random encounters are often, and I'd almost go as far as saying that that is the ONLY area in the game where the toned down frequency was, intentional or not, left out.

I'm just about done and I must say, this was a very satisfying game and I really like the characters (especially Cooke). These characters will go in my memory like the other great RPGs out there.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

38 hours for Blue Dragon?!?! Indifferent [:|] I hope you mean just blazing through the story and not 100% completion right? 38 hours is insanely fast if you managed to find and beat everything in that time, even using Wiki.

That's a good tip about the Atoll, I might do that myself. Last I left my characters they were all just past rank 60 or so.

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

I actually feel guilty for using so much help in LO as it is. I normally hate using any form of help in rpgs, but I was in a rush with LO due to going back to the states and wanting to complete it first. I figure it will take me about 150 hours to do 100% in LO, which is about right. Havnt touched the temple of enlightenment yet, nor the backyard really. Spent 250 hours on blue dragon, but never completed that 100% either.(granted I have more achievements than what show, I got glitched and never bothered to delete the content that glitches it)

Re: Backyard - Super Class Help Please

LOL - 38 was for just getting through the game. At 42 hrs. though, I unlocked a few of the Lv. 99 achievements for skills, but after that, I never really went on to get anything in the game. I still have little GP for it. Lost Odyssey will be the first RPG I actually get the full 1000GP out of. :) Then again, few RPGs on the Xbox 360! Eternal Sonata was fun, but I couldn't bare going through it a second time for the achievements and gave up halfway through.

At least the acheivements in LO are fun, not like "fight 100 times" "back attack 100 times" etc. I think Japanese developers have been HORRID at coming up with achievements but this game is pretty well done I must say.
