Knights of the Old Republic III

Where is it?

Both games were hits and sold many copies.

I only beat KOTOR and that game was amazing. For some reason I never got to play KOTOR II, but I have confidence that that was great also.

KOTOR came out 6/1/2003 by BioWare. KOTOR II came out 12/01/2004 by Obsidian Entertainment.

It has been over 3 years since the last KOTOR!! I know Mass Effect came out, and BioWare made it, but for some reason I still have a feeling about a new KOTOR. How can they extinguish such a great game before it even comes out on a next-gen platform?

I want them to make it a 360 exclusive (for now at least) so they can concentrate on making it as good as possible and adding whatever may be necessary.

Tell me what you think about it and what should be added/changed/removed from previous games.

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III

Developing of a new KotOR game could be nearer than we thought. LA has posted some news on their website that they are teaming once again with BW to make a new interactive project...hopefully K3!!!.

Now I want new planets to explore (NO korriban nor dantooine) more free roam capabilitites, actually flight the Ebon Hawk and have some space fights before landing some planets, expand/finish the Revan story, sabotage droid during combat/sealth kill features, interaction with the enviroment grab/throw things thru the force. full armors (helmet included) customized lightsaber hilts, sith tech on sabers and melee weapons(killer looks), hooded jedi/sith robes, full face customization and more races. feats related to race specifics...

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III

Using the guns on the Ebon Hawk was just useless. That was one of the few bad parts of the game probably put in just to make it more "interesting".

Besides that, the mini-games were ok. Some races were hard, but still enjoyable, and the card game (forget the name) was pretty good.

I wanna actually use all the skills next game. For instance, I never used stealth because I didn't find any places where it was necessary.

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III
Star Wars without space fights isnt Star Wars, so definetly expanding the turret minigame its a must, imo. (This applies to KotOR II) Skills are tied with your class so if you choose a jedi sentinel it will be wise to stack up your Stealth skill, later on when you get the prestige class (jedi watchman) you will get force camouflage (you can use stealth without stealth generator) plus the advance sneak attacks, combine that with stealth run feat and you can waste some enemies with one hit comin' out of the stealth mode, the trick is to stay behind the enemies. Also in KotOR II there's some areas you have to go into stealth to get some quest info.

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III
N. Evan Van Zelfden in Los Angeles warns, watch out World of Warcraft. In an interview at E3 this week, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.

"We've got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development," said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. "And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about -- in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it."

Does Riccitiello mean the oft rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online?  "Yes," he said.

Moving into MMOs is an essential component for any gaming company, and it's a big part of the reason Vivendi merged with Activision, for that company's World of Warcraft MMO.

Riccitiello told Portfolio.com that he was interested in owning World of Warcraft, and that he did discuss it, but it wasn't in the cards. "Because [Vivendi] couldn't afford control of EA, and I wasn't giving it up."

But EA is firmly on that path now, with a KOTOR MMO, which would sidestep the consoles owned by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. "Increasingly, people are going to be talking about direct-to-customer in our business," said Riccitiello. "I think we'll be talking about it louder than most."

Today, two-thirds of the game industry is console systems and dedicated handhelds. "We expect in 2011 for it to be fifty-percent," Riccitiello said.

MMOs will also be useful as a way to expand into foreign territories.

"China's a growth market for us," he said. "We're launching some mid-session games on a micro-transaction model." In May of last year, the company announced an equity investment in a leading Chinese online game operator, The9, Ltd. "And there's a bunch more coming that we haven't announced. "

The company has stated that M&A is part of the strategy, and EA is looking for core game companies "only when they bring great [intellectual property] and great teams," he said.  The company is also interested in businesses that "help us build our platform in the area of Asia, online, and direct-to-consumer."

"One is strategic and new, one is core and profitable -- and we're looking at both," explained Riccitiello.

Future games aside, Riccitiello is most proud of EA's revenues, its console-business growth, and what's currently on display to the army of reviewers and game journalists in Los Angeles this week.

"We added almost a billion dollars to the revenue last year," he notes. "This year, we've told the street that we're going to add a billion to a billion-three."

And console games are a market that's doing well. "It's grown 30 percent year-to-date," says Riccitiello. "All three of the consoles are way up. The PC business in terms of it's aggregate of subscriptions/micro-transactions is also way up. "

But at the end of the day, it's about the games themselves.

"I think, hands down, there's not a publisher or a platform that's got what we've got," he says. In his own life, he sees how EA's games are making an impact: "I've got twenty-two nephews and nieces. A couple years there, I couldn't buy everything I wanted for them at the holidays. I can do the entire holiday -- and capture my mother for the first time -- at the EA store. That's never been the case before."

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III

yea yoooo KOTOR 3 would be freakin hot, they should make it so that after malicor you pik the bginning as sith so u stayed on malicor or jedi u destroyed malicor.

Sith Side: as a sith you train and become to have students follow you then end up looking for revan, you find him and end up fighting side by side then end up being separated again since no1 wants revan dead but you find the true sith secrets.

Jedi Side: You find revan still fight sideby side with revan but is still cautious he tries to turn you sith

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III
i for one would very much like 2 c a continuation of the KOTOR series but as for taking it 2 a MMO style game i dunno bout that, especially knowing that most MMOs like world of warcraft n everquest n games like that r all pay 2 play, i dunno bout u guys but i already pay $50 a year 4 the ability 2 play online on my xbox, i pay $60 just to get the game, i dont feel like payin $15 a month just to play that game in particular, i mean seriously how much more money could they possibly wanna drain out of us consumers just to play a damn game

I hear you my friend. Personally I feel the same. If there's a monthly fee there'e no way I'm playing. Right now it's only going to be for PC anyway and it's not a continuation, it's an MMO.

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III

I dont mind it being only for PC because I have a kick *** PC. But if it's pay 2 play im out. Kotor is my FAVORITE game ever. I would play Kotor 1 or 2 over GOW or Fallout anyday. It is possibly THE most followed original xbox series ever. But do you know what pisses me off? The nerve of Lucasarts. They don't even make a blip about this game for years then they come out and make it, what? AN MMO!! Now if they do this right, no payments, awesome KOTOR gameplay (not WOW), more features, GOOD STORY!! (most important) then I will be happy. I say give Bioware a chance.

Im with u on givin BIOWARE a chance i havent had much experince with their games but i have played bioshock which i thought was pretty awesome n ive heard great things about mass effect n those are there 2 most recent games i believe, n 4 the most part everything new that comes out is a step above what was previously out so if they can find a way 2 combine the genius of number 1 that was the story line, and the advanced gameplay features of number 2(like switchin ur weapons without goin into ur inventory) and find a way 2 make it any better than the previous games i will b extremely impressed bcuz KOTOR is probally one of the best storylines videogaming has ever seen, they have packed more in 2 games than i have seen many other companies do, and yes i do even go as far as 2 say KOTOR 1 & 2 were probally better than any 2 final fantasy games ever made

Re: Knights of the Old Republic III
I found this article after searching 4 KOTOR 3 on google

Electronic Arts held their annual Analysts Day for financial advisors (you can check out the web based
audio replays of the event and check out PDFs of the presentations at EA's investors web site) and during their presentation EA execs revealed in one chart on their main PDF file that their newly acquired developer BioWare will be making a new game in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic franchise. This new game will apparently not be an MMO title but rather something similar to the first two games in the RPG series (the first developed by BioWare, the second by Obsidian Entertainment). BioWare will also work on future games in the Mass Effect series along with their own new Dragon Age game and their currently unknown MMO title.

Couldn't find what you're talking about. That aside it would be nice to see KOTOR III some time in the future. Hopefully EA/Bioware/Lucasarts could see the potential profits of a true sequel in addition to their little MMO.

bioshock wasnt developed by bioware, and mass effect is amazing, the closest we'll ever get to a kotor 3 for now at least.

Right now Old Republic (which takes place a hundred years after KOTOR) can be our KOTOR 3 until Bioware and Lucas Arts decided to make a KOTOR 3. Anyways I can't wait for the Old Republic. It is going to be hot.

Correction. TOR is 300 years after KOTOR. But it still looks sweet. I love that cinematic CGI trailer with the attack on the Jedi Temple.
