I have beaten the game with Ruby and I unlocked R.A.D but how do you unlock the 4th character- Sensi? Any help would be appreciated. Awesome game by the way!

You get something new every time you beat the game.
1st time you unlock R.A.D (and arcade++ mode)
2nd time you unlock a female announcer (or something like that)
3rd time you unlock SENSEI! (Awesome, lol)
4th time you unlock Retro mode.

actually:
finish game with tempest: Sensei
finish game with Ruby: RAD
1cc game with 2 characters: retro mode
1cc game with 3 characters: female announcer

I think zaarock may have it mixed up. I just beat it with ruby and r.a.d. and got the female voice. I'm assuming beating it with tempest should unlock sensei and retro mode.

Ah, so you probably get female voice for clearing with RAD and Retro for clearing with Sensei.. quite simple.
Would have been nice to have harder unlockables though

Still not clear on how to unlock Sensei is it 3rd game completion or simply beat it with tempest?

Beat it with Tempest.

Just beat it with Tempest last night Sensei is fun =)

Sensei has some fun ideas, indeed. but it is a little boring. the only way you can die is if you collide with you're enemies. Getting the 1cc achievement with him on the first try was a little boring, but its definately fun in multiplayer

I finally unlocked this guy last night, and I must say it was fun.  I'm going to try to beat the game in 1cc now.  That's going to be difficult.  But hey, practice makes perfect.
