Single player plays great but "Vs. Speed" is laggy, and I can't get a "Vs." game to start! Is "Vs." head to head? Has anyone been able to get it to work? Shanks...

To answer my own question:

No it is not! Single player is a great translation of the original arcade machine but "Vs." as they call it, is a fraud. There is no head to head option! By "Vs." they mean you both play your own game at the same time and whoever gets the highest score in their respective game wins. Ug... I understand you could never play head to head in the original and it's just an emulation but C'MON PROGRAMMERS!

Sorry, I just really wanted this to be something I could play against  friends... total let-down. Oh yeah, cyberball on XBLA sux too... but you already knew that.

Every Digital Eclipse game has had abysmal online play.  This one's no exception.  They still haven't figured out that side-by-side gameplay (ie, where you're each playing on independent screens) is trivially easy to program with *absolutely no lag*.
