Re: Ideas for Elder Scrolls V2
That would work alot better Than morrowind's "Swim untill you literly get lost and cant make it back to the island"

They could get more creative whith that as well...

Like instead of Oblivion's "You cannot go any farther in this direction"

They could have things like forest fires, Impassible mountains... Or simply a wall...

K now....

When i say wall...

i don't mean like...

Just a huge quantum singularity wall...

But maybe something like... A wall in certain parts... Just so there isnt for some reason... A huge forest fire surrounding a whole province...

Make it realistic

We agree here. The best way to go, I think, would either be Sea Serpents, Maelstroms, sheer cliffs with no possibility of fully scalling and/or terrible mountain winds that carry you over the edge. . . of falls that none can survive.  Also, some areas that just go on forever. Inhabit them sparsely with the appropriate cross border people (Nords, Dark Elves, Redguard etc.), and then just have a graphic loop, like the glitch areas in the game or the fabled sea in Morrowind. I actually like the notion of being able to cross borders.

Re: Ideas for Elder Scrolls V2
Well...

I don't think it should result in you dying.

Maybe instead what they should do is... Have your character black out and have them wake up in a nearby town...

And have someone say something along the lines of how stupid you were to try and fight the sea monster/ Climb those mountains/ Go thru a forest fire/ whatever and that your lucky to be alive.

Just so the player knows that he can't go any further.... Instead of not realising it's a barrior and end up Grinding till there as strong as they can be... and then go and try to fight that sea monster again...

Just so they don't get pissed and blame bethesda for putting in monsters that are "Too strong" or what not...

You know?

lol there could be weak points on the monsters like their eyes or something that when striked dealls alot of damage.... and still there is always magic.... use ice to freeze parts of the monster to way it down to the bottom of the ocean and finnish it off while it cant defend itself
That's just the average Charon post. Don't take it too seriously.
lol i guess my posts proceed me..... atleast i put ideas out there and they get noticed in some way... even if its a negitive way they still get noticed

since the sothern area of skyrim(if it is the new area for tesv) is mosty mountains the impassible mountains idea would be the most benificial.... and the seas to the north could just start dealing frost damage if u travel to far out

or perhaps it pushes you back..like in Halo 3, when you try to fly off the map with a banshee. You don't hit a wall, it appears that you've left, but something smoothly pushes you back.

that would work nicely...... i would like to be able to place weapons in different places.... like a long sword could be at the hip, behind on the lower back, or across the back coming over the shoulder.... short blades could have similer placements then a few differnt ones... like hanging upside down on the back like Altair from assassins creed, or on the thigh..... maces and axes could hang from belts....staves and spears could stay in the hand and be used as a walking stick.... quivers could be over the shoulder or hang from the hip.... claymores could be over the back or at the hip, they should also have sheathes instead of just being bare blade.... i think all this could be acomplished by having a weapons option menu... select the equiped weapon and a options menu could be activated where u could pick placement, idle, and unequip..... i would also like to be able to pick a idle animation for my character with equiped and unequiped weapon.... by idle i mean if u dont touch the controlls for a few second ur character doest a animation till u do something.... like long blades they could just place the long blade over their shoulder and pose like that or look around.... or short blades they could start twirling the blade in their hands..... or a staff/spear the character could lean against it and kind of nod off.... some things like that

or when you have a shield equiped have it on your back instead of on your arm when your not using it. oh and maybe if you have a shield and you start to ride your horse hang the shield on the horse instead of riding with it, same with your sword.

Just a suggestion, but how about hiring party members which you can choose specific skills and equiptment for and also change their playstyles.

Also what about being able to buy boats, maybe not being able to manualy control them but choose a destination and you would be boarded etc. Also you could use the boat to store items, like a house. Sorry if you think this is stupid.

That idea sounds like it could really work...or fail epically. Maybe if you could have the option of "fast travelling" through the boat trip, or waiting in real time. This could mean you could order your men to attack and plunder other ships.(Pirate guilds?)

Maybe you could board other ships at sea or attack forts, ruins and caves at the edge of the sea.

Well if the next game is going to be in Skyrim like all the rumors claim then...

There is the potential for the possibility of players going out to sea, hell we might even be able to return to Solstheim.

I actually like snow and Bruma a great deal. Though its about time they got their mages guild back in order. If you were really Archmage in the game, rather than just a figurehead, you would be able to assign someone that task. Anyway. . . I hope to see plenty of snowscapes. . . but as for the central location of the game. . . I am really hoping for the SummerSet Isles. . . among other things it heightens my chances for all those Daedric encounters I am aiming for, since the rumour is that "Daedra Worship has become increasingly prevalent in The Summer Set Isles" If the Game is Mega massive and open, It would be great if you could cross borders. Here is to hope.

seeing as the bloodline of the emporer's successors was destroyed in Oblivion wouldn't there be some kind of civil war? Because then the different cities could fight each other. And if so you should hav the option of choosing your town at the start.

Re: Ideas for Elder Scrolls V2
They should bring back that Mark and Return spell that was in Morrowind. Remember how you can mark the spot, leave it then if you want to go back to that spot you just use the spell? I can't remember what it's called exactly, but if you played morrwind for a few hours you know what I'm talking about. Make the lands as big as morrwind too. Tired of this small stuff even though I didn't notice it in Oblivion.

EDIT

Also somebody mentioned not dying, but being teleported to a town when your health goes down. I highly disagree with this. You die, you die and that's how it should be. I think when you die in a Elder Scrolls game. It really kicks in your head that, "You F-ED UP" and being players who love the games, we got to learn for it. Get stronger, carry more items, don't go around the area even. Hell, in Morrowind I was level 50 and I still was chicken to go to the middle of the map even when I think at that level I can slap down the most evil boss of all.

Thats not a stupid idea. Thats probably the best contribution i've seen on this page! Big Smile [:D]

This ties in perfectly with purchasing real estate. If you were to buy a dock and we went back to the Morrowind system of transport, you could open certain transportation routes. These would be quicker and have a lot less (or no) transfers to get from one place to another in comparison to what the map gives you.

This could create the illusion of fast transportation but would still limit you from transporting  from anywhere, to a handful of extra docks placed around the map.

@Wasterland08: There would actually be a civil war for the imperial throne, but according to Bethesdas lore breaking new books being released this Fall, another heir exists. Stick out tongue [:P]

I havn't played morrowind but it took me a while to realise you could fast travel in oblivion, and when I did I was quite dissapointed as it removes some of the challange and meaning of the game, still I hope fast travel will not be an option in TESv.

Re: Ideas for Elder Scrolls V2
I want the option to use equipment other than what is best for my level. In Oblivion, if you don't upgrade your weapons and armor to the best available, the bad guys really put the hurt on you. In Morrowind I could still use silver, ebony, and glass items at level 40. Sure there was better equipment, but the difference was not as severe as Oblivion. You could actually justify using "less than Daedric" because it saved a lot of weight and only gave up a few stat points. The equipment was just better balanced. This let you customize your character with what you wanted to use. By forcing you to upgrade, Oblivion makes all characters use the same limited equipment set throughout the level range.

Yeah I know what you mean some light armour parts only contribute 1 point to you're armour rating, which almost makes it pointless to wear, while full daedric gives you 85 armour rating most of the time.
