I have to destroy the barracks in Holdenfort as its my only open task as i can't summon the dragon yet. I know of only two ways to get in Holdenfort, both are basically suicide...I go in and only try to run for my life to get to the barracks, its not that easy..theres LOTS of enemies you have to go through aswell as 2 Champions. Its pretty impossible aswell because the barracks are on a rock alot higher than where you enter in, so its a long way of running and trying to stay alive. Surely im not doing something right and theres an easier way ? if you know please tell me as i need the help. Thanks.

From what I know, the only way up to the barracks is from crossing a bridge... which is on the other side of the base, opposite where you enter.

But basically, you can either slowly stealth through and take out the champions, or do what you did and go through a mad dash.

I can't explain it very well, but if you stick left when you enter the whole hort from the front, you'll eventually come to these boxes of some kind that you can climb/jump up on. Then you flip a U and fight everyone on your way to the barracks.

The best advise I can give is to sneak into the camp and stealth attack as many legions as possible.  There is a seceret entrance to the right of the main gate (climb over the fence).  From here take as many legions on the outskirts as possible (ones on their own or in small groups) before attacking the Champion. 

When you fight the champion, use LT + Y to dodge his attacks as you will not get hit when he swings if you do this.  Also, when fighing the Champion the other legions should stay back.  After this head up to the barracks and again stealth kill as many as possible befor taking out the shaman. When fighting the shaman concentrate on the red poles and not the legions and you should be fine.

Finally, make sure you have health potions, axes and flame pots as they come in very handy.

Here's how I did it.

• Climb the fence on the left hand side of the camp. Stay to the left and stealth kill the first legion guy you see. Hop the little fence by the tables and let a couple of legion guys see you then hop back over the fence and take them out as they either jump the fence or go around it.  By killing them away from the others, it's easier. Keep doing this until the champion is alone. Then fight the champion 1 on 1.
• After take out the archers on the bridge and then continue across to draw the legion into the middle of the bridge and do the same thing until you get the champion alone again. After this you can take out the last couple of legion hanging around and make your way up the steps on the left. 
• Hide behind the little fence until the hornblower guy shows and throw an axe at him so he can't alert anyone. stay to the left and take out the couple of guys before crossing the bridge and taking out those archers.
• Hop the fence and you should see the barracks. stay to the right and you'll see the spot where you need to set the charges.
• Remember that when fighting the legions if you get them close to the edge, you can hold the LT + A to shoulder them off the cliffs. Hope this helps! Anyone else feel free to add or correct anything I forgot.

Thanks il keep trying, thats what i was doing basically except trying to run away from alot of them...And the bad thing is they don't just simply tag along behind you when running afew you, they can overtake and usually hit me from behind which stops me from running and they all circle around me which leaves me open because blocking dosn't help when their behind you aswell. Il try what you said and il try luring sets of them to follow me, killing them then trying to get the champion alone. I just wish i could hold more than 3 health potions :(

Im stuck there as well. But I get to the point in the fort that has that red glowing stuff that the enemies keep coming from and then when i go to the opening it's a cliff that will drop you to your death.....How do you get rid of that red glowing stuff.....I need help bad.....

I found that the best way to the top is to go in through the right entrance and first take care of the guy w/ the horn.  Go down tooward the water, past the ladder and cross the water on the big gate by jumping to grab the ledge.  You can bypass the champions above and if you encounter any legion the numbers will me managable.  Sneak your way  always heading up till you get  to the top  level  and sneak to the bridge.   You'll have to  deal w/ leagion on the bridge, but again the numbers should be managable.  
When you are across the bridge, don't worry about the glowing red for now, just work your way to the left and set a bomb on the barracks.  Their is a lighted door that you have to jump up to.  When your near it the B tag will appear.

I must not be seeing that door to plant the bomb....i will try again later.......i played that section for like over an hour yesterday and tried all different ways and running through the whole city like an idiot trying to find something to blow up.....

The barrack is just to the left of the bridge.  It is enclosed by some fences.  There are a few legion in there but managable.  go to the side of the building (river side) and jump up one level.  There is a lighted square trap door.   Happy bombing...
