before my purchase i wanted to ask, do the settings allow you to play horizontal? I ask because this is the way I like to play it. I own the Deamcast and Gamecube versions and they allow you too. i don't want my 46" lCD's space to go to waste. I want full screen horizontal.

yes this game does let you play horizontally. you have to go to display settings and flip it.  i play horizontally.  whatever you do dont zoom in. you basically dont have enough reaction time to kill alll of the enemies you need unless you already memorized where they are coming from.

Wrong.  This game doesn't have horizontal controls.

technically it does. if you go to help & options, then setting, then video settings, you can adjust the screen to rotate left or right.  then zoom in or out for full screen play.  doesnt do wonders for the controller though, but technically you can play horizontally.  like i said, ive done it

That option is for people who have a monitor that can rotate.  It's not made to be played horizontally.

A control scheme, is a control scheme, nothing more.  It might compliment a mode, but it doesn't create it.  When you invert your thumbsticks for a FPS, it is not like you are playing in "inverted" mode.  Either way, this arguement is silly.  I think we can both agree that you can get the screen to scroll horizontally, but there are no controls to match it.

haha you guys are crazy.  Obviously, there is the ability to play horizontal, regardless of having to rotate a display.  Just because the controls arent there, doesnt mean horizontal mode does not exist.  Just because there is church, religion and a bible doesnt mean god exists, but the foundation is there to believe whatever you want :)

Because on the Gamecube version, they offered a matching control scheme.  On this new version, there is no horizontal controls and the game states rotating the picture is only for people with monitors that rotate. 

It doesn't matter about your pointless arguement. Btw I side with TOO Taco Bob, but only 'cause Eric The Duke is being rude (and "technically" you can play horizontal). This game should be played in vertical mode anyway, it just feels right.

play the game while lying sick on the couch or bed with your head tilting sideways. that way it the control scheme doesnt make a difference and you can play left-wise or right-wise depending on which way you lay. And wow this board became an argument.  i just stated that technically you have the ability to play horizontally.  you should try it. and i play on a 46 inch lcd tv that doesnt rotate.

Yep, you finally understand. *Phew* That would have been embarrassing if you still didn't get it. There are no horizontal controls in this game. That's obvious, we all know it. But you can play horizontally. No one said playing horizontally would be easy or comfortable or have its own control scheme but it is possible. Like you said, lying down can make the game horizontal, or you can activate the screen rotate (just the game screen, not rotate the actual TV) and play it sitting up. There you go.

Anyway, it can't be too hard to re-wire the left stick for horizontal; just switch the wires on the two axises and close the controller back up.  Just have to learn to read sideways :P
