Some (almost all) of you baffle me
How do you go from a game like MA to Halo3/COD4/RB6V2?

MA was a class-based game.  It was based mainly on strategy (not necessarily aiming/skill)....it had a great community in which anybody that was anybody was known in the community.  There were different groups and many small rivalries in the community.  Rankings were a joke, and respect was earned through being known in the community.

And almost all of you all went on to games that are NOTHING like this.  I don't get it.....

I try and come back every month or so for a night or a hour....It matters whos on.

But to the main part of your question....Really comes down to there wasnt much of choice on the OG Box.
It was like I had to play halo2,rb6ba,gr2...And for some reason I just played ma2.

But that was back theN...In my noob years, now there are so many games that are just more fuN.

Re: Some (almost all) of you baffle me
I loved my MA2 and I played it for years. When 360 came out I bought some games for it and didnt like them so i came back to MA2. Then GRAW dropped. I have been hooked on shooters since then. I play Halo3, Army of two, and GOW now. The only thing that I honestly miss about MA2 is that everyone knew everyone. It was a great community even if you hated someone there was a since of respect no matter what. Unless you ban Mechthedane from the GB forums for bashing you. I lost all respect for him. lmao. Anyways Long live GIKO.

It's all personal preference.  Some people like shooters and some don't.  Some like Mechassault and some don't.

The market is flooded with shooters right now, so you might want to either find a good alternative or keep in line with playing the same thing over and over again.

Shooters are fun, and the only good 3rd person shooter out right now is GOW.  But why play a generic games like Halo3/COD4/RB6V2 when there are games just like MA in Team Fortress 2 and Shadowrun?  I really expected to see most of the MA community on these types of games since MA was one of these games in it's prime......but instead, almost no MA players play them.

Re: Some (almost all) of you baffle me

It's not like MA2. Not even close. There's classes....but it's like TPS + poor excuse for a game story + magic= Shadowrun. I played it for a while, and it was fun, but nothing I could continue to play for more than a couple months.

And while on the topic, realisticaly there's not a comparable game to MA. It's just that simple. You have a few TPS, a ton of FPS(few of which are good), and a ragtag bunch of driving, RPGs, and other random games. Comparing any game to MA is laughable.. There are few games that have had the longevity of a competitve community that MA had. It's due to several reasons, mostly that there are many more choices of games. Back then...the best team based game was MA. And it was for quite some time.

I personally enjoy COD, even though I wasn't much of an FPS player. I like the multiplayer options, and the earning of weapons/perks/ranks makes the game slightly less stale.

My main comparison is Team Fortress 2 (since I have barely played Shadowrun).

-it is a class based game (which most MA fans should agree is better than a generic shooter)

-it is a medium sized community that is very familiar with each other, randoms are booted from good games (just like MA...though the community is HUGE on PC)

-Players play for respect...not ranking.

-Team Fortress has one of the strongest fanbases of any game.....people played TF on PC 10 years later (until TF2 came out).

-the game is more about strategy than skill

-strategies are based around different combinations of classes on different maps

-oh yeah....and it's a great game that earned it's place through great gameplay rather than hype....just like MA

Yeah, it is in The Orange Box on 360......very very good game, but I will say it is an acquired taste.  Many people are turned off by it the 1st tiem they play because it is not easy to pick up right off the bat and kill people like COD4/Halo3.....and there is a HUGE discrepency between great/good/decent/and newb players (just like MA), so you may get turned off by by getting dominated at 1st.

Re: Some (almost all) of you baffle me
Team Fortress 2 is the closest you can get to MA at the moment. I have it for the PC, but sometimes I wish I would have gotten it for 360, but I'm a college student and $50 is a lot mroe appealing then $60. Also I can't get online because of my stupid school.

Hey if there are any of you who play on the PC send a friend request my way at TheOneX_Eleazar on steam.

Re: Some (almost all) of you baffle me
I might try Team Fortress sometime. Honestly though, I dont think that there is any reason to get our hopes up for a game that will fill our time like the MA games did. I think that a lot of these first person shooters are fun though. They just get repetitive so it helps to have more than one shooter game. Personally I switch between Halo3, Army of Two, and GOW. Still I feel that I am lacking a time consuming game. I find myself turning off the xbox a lot because I am bored. That never happened before.

Re: Some (almost all) of you baffle me
I know how you feel. I'm switching between Halo3, TF2, and Shadowrun(a very underrated game). Then I also am finally getting around to completing Oblivion. I find it hard to actually play these games. Halo3 just isn't that fun if all your friends are playing COD4 and GTA4 and I can go from level 27 to 29 in two games even though I haven't played since christmas because of my crappy school connection. I like Shadowrun but it doesn't call to be played, and one game of TF2 is very time consuming. 1 game can take up to an hour or more. Oblivion I can only play so much before I get bored with and have to put it down for 6 months. The last game that I played and couldn't put it down was Lost Odyssey but I don't own that game and I don't have the money to buy it. I'm hoping Too Human and SW: The Force Unleashed can cure this apathy.

You should all go check out the trailer for H.A.W.X it might be a good game.  Front lines is a fun class based game.  I thought it was more like ma than team f is.

Welp, TF2 on the 360 is just about dead.  Valve decided never to update the game, so most players have switched over to the PC version of the game.

If you never played this game, you missed out on the best class-based shooter of all-time.

I picked it (TF2) up a year ago used.  I got a few games under my belt (but I was very much late to the game and behind in the learning curve). All-in-all, it was a good game.
