Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
Not compatible with my Belkin KVM USB switch model #F1DL102U. With my USB keyboard and USB mouse directly connected to my computer, the wireless reciever will work. The KVM switch installs additional USB HID compliant drivers (made by microsoft and dated 2001) and these drivers create an incompatiblity. If I try it with the KVM switch I get the same error, a green light in orbit around the 'X' logo. I also have this problem in WinMCE2005 Rollup2, but I prefer booting into WinVista.

Furthermore I'd like to add that it hurts to have to choose between work and play, I use my KVM switch to 'work' between two computers and in this case I can't have recess when I need it.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I am also having problems with my Microsoft Gaming Receiver that I just bought today...

It works fine on my wife's computer but it does not work on mine (which is the main gaming computer).

I press the button on the receiver and it blinks green, then I push the sync button on the 360 controllers and the Ring of Light spins and then it starts to blink at which point the green light on the receiver goes a solid green and the Ring of Light blinks on and off continuously.  So they obviously see one another, they just can't sync up.

I will try some of the suggestions posted here and see what I come up with.

In the meantime, here are a list of my USB peripherals in case we all have something in common causing an incompatibility:

-Logitech MX 1000 Laser mouse
-Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
-Xbox Live Wireless headset (original xbox)
-Nostromo n52 SpeedPad
-Saitek X52 Flight Control System
-Microsoft GameVoice

PS -MS  Tech support was extremely unhelpful

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
Ok, I got it to work by rebooting the computer while the controller and the receiver are sync'ing.  It successfully sync'd just prior to the Windows welcome screen. (and this is without unplugging ANY of the previously mentioned USB devices)

Man, talk about inconvenient.  I'm going to have to reboot every time I wanna use an Xbox 360 controller on my PC?  Man, what a plug n' play age we live in, eh? Hmm [^o)]

And...the first game I try with my MS Wireless Wheel is Need for Speed: Carbon...and it DOESN'T WORK!  The game does not recognize any input from the wheel and the wheel works just fine in Windows' game controller control panel applet.

I too am having trouble with this product, it looks like it has to do with things that function as hubs like an earlier poster said

I use a Logitech G15 keyboard which has 2 usb ports on it, and it seems like that is probably causing it, it's really a lot of hassle to not be able to use my keyboard on the box

Microsoft fix this~

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
there might be something to that Eji, I'm not sure if you read my post above, but my problems occur when trying to use a Belkin USB KVM switch and when that's pluged up it might be putting in some hub like drivers. This switch allows me to share a USB Mouse and a USB keyboard between two computers. It uses an installed software program in the systray to do the switching. Anyways I hope bad that Microsofts software engineers can fix this.

I too have the problem where the Wireless Receiver and 360 controller won't sync. I haven't tried any of the methods described yet, but i report back when i have tried all of them thoroughly... However, i'm afraid i don't think it'll work even after all those methods as i have a wireless mouse that i think is interfering.

I have a wireless mouse and that isn't the problem.

I think it's my Logitech G15 Keyboard.

Oh right, well hopefully one of the methods described will make it work then... However, i also have a Logitech Keyboard (mines the 350 USB) that might be causing problems.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
You may have to do the following:

-unplug your logitech keyboard
-reboot with the receiver and the gamepad both turned on and trying to sync
-during the reboot just prior to the welcome screen/desktop, your controller should sync
-then plug in your keyboard

But for me, the keyboard doesn't work properly when the gamepad/receiver is working.  Lovely.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
g15 keyboard all the way.  The reciever works fine until the moment I plug in the keyboard (booting without keyboard).  All other USB devices are fine.

I also notice that when I try to shut down it now handgs at the LCDMON program.  I have a feeling this program is conflicting.

Uninstalling the g15 software fixes the conflict, but leaves the g15 without a working lcd.

Well, that certainly isn't a viable solution Wink [;)]

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

I've just got mine today and got it working without any hassle.  My only gripes are :

1) When I use it with my PC it still fires up my Xbox360 downstairs.

2) You cannot turn the controller off when it is sync'd with the PC.

3) Cannot use the trigger buttons on GTA San Andreas.

Hopefully a wireless keyboard and mouse will be released that we can use with the xbox and PC

I dunno what is causing my problems but if it's my Microsoft brand wireless keyboard and mouse I'm going to be pissed.  I'm gonna try rebooting with everything unplugged I'll post back and tell you if it worked for me or not.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
Alright good news everything now works fine.  I turned my computer off, unplugged all my USB peripherals and when I turned my computer back on I made sure to plug in the wirelss reciever first and try to sync up.  Everything is good now and I was able to plug my wireless keyboard and mouse in without any interference.  I hope it ends up working for the rest of you as well and when we all get ours to work we can think about how we've gone through this or something similar with every 360 accessory we've ever bought...well, at least I have.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I'm having a problem with mine but it's different then what most ppl a talking about! Here's my problem. I got the wireless receiver installed and had it working fine for the first few days then my PC crashed and I had to restart it from the previous good restart at which point my PC no longer recognized the 360 wireless receiver so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it at mid install an error message popped up saying that I couldn't install because I either didn't have enough free hard disk space (remember I had it installed and working for a few days prior) or an unexpected error has occured which is what I'm still triing to figure out! If ANYONE can help me with this situation I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm going to add and update my last post:

I have found the latest update which is 1.1 from the 1.0 which came on the disk which in turn fixed the issue regarding my last post but now I have encountered the problem of my controller not syncing up(like the rest of you) and I think it is an issue with the newest driver update 1.1 and have started a thread over here to address the current issue's!

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

Got my receiver today. Had trouble getting it to connect controller, so unplugged my logitech usb speakers/mouse and it connected.

Although, tried it on sonic mega collection, mapped out buttons but the d-pad doesnt work (sonic just goes left all the time)

The drivers are up the creak! I couldnt run age of empires II and games kept minimising. uninstalled them and things went back to normal. Tried the 1.1 drivers and they are worse! Sonic MC kept minimising. Again an uninstall of the drivers fixed it.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
Just got my reciever today and installed without any issues. The only odd thing is that once I had everything setup, I hit the guide button and the status indicatior showed up on screen. Clicking on the little arrow in the status opens a menu where you can select "Check for updates" which I did. Then my Asus (motherboard) bios update program opened...Ever since then, whenever I hit the guide button, the Asus utility will launch after after a few minutes. I think there must be something similar between the two "updaters" that the wireless adapter gets confused. I'm thinking that when you press the guide button, besides showing the status, it does a background check for updates.

Going into the start menu > programs > MS xbox 360 accessories > and then clicking "check for updates" seems to work correctly.

FYI. Once you have the wireless adapter installed, run the Microsoft update on the system. There is an update for the xbox wireless adapter available.

There two ways to sync the controller, one is manual and I've followed the proper squence for this. And the other is automatic at Windows start up. Yes I can get this 'headache' to work, but only if I leave my USB KVM switch unglugged. This is a USB driver conflict created by Microsoft as all of my USB drivers are authored by them.

I'm having the same problems, unfortunately, none of the fixes here have helped me.  Sadly, the thing works fine on my 2nd computer, you know, the one that doesn't have the sick gaming hardware in it.... Really frustrating, and the support for this device is non existant.  Hoping for a quick fix.
