Here's something else about restoring your character. If you have another character  in that Content ID slot you have to delete it.The  character you want to restore has to go back to that original content ID or it won't work! They tried a few times  so i had to reactivate all my ID's(mules)  and delete a character i was starting  over with before i got character back!

you should remove that link to allakhazam, i wouldn't recommend anyone going there and i'll keep the reason to myself.
I feel you, but despite the site's affiliation with RMT, it's still a pretty good database of information. Last year when I couldn't find an item on FFXIclopedia, I could always find it on AK.

Not just that but they also compromised a lot of peoples WoW accounts by not checking thier adds, and some of them containted keyloggers. I didn't have to worry about adds with them since i had an account, but yanked it soon after finding out about thier carelessness, or was it?

I know this is a necro-post, but Allakhazam was a great site before it's RMT affiliation, and it still is afterward.  Nobody ever said it was a safe site.  The keylogger you mention was also part of a widespread virus, and Allakhazam was not the only site hit by it.  It's also not the first malware written to steal WoW accounts.  I think this mass-mailer worm was:

http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2007-030416-3427-99

The only logical gripe I've ever agreed with about Allakhazam, is that the informational threads are plagued with elitism, and the forum posters there are unable to view things from anything but endgame level perspectives.  To cite an example, take a quick look at this FAQ on PLD/RDM:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=5;mid=1154729258105247641;num=58;page=1

Now my point is that you could make a Bard solo with the caliber gear the FAQ poster suggests.  The writer almost expects that every PLD has sea access to get Keonig gear.  He also expects the user to have a Joyeuse, or a Krakken club (K-clubs are super rare on every server).  What he really should say is, "If you can not solo in this junk, get a new job."  None of the information in this poor excuse for a FAQ is good, but just common sense.  The point in a FAQ is helping a player acheive goals, not stating the obvious.  The hefty prerequisites to this guide are things like organizing a Charby Fight, and getting sea access doesn't help a guy who has a 75 PLD for say, and would like to do things many PLDs can not do without help.  PLD/WAR is horrible solo, and even has trouble with soloing EP mobs with their usual turtle-esque gear (PLD AF/Adaman gear).  I commend a guy who may want to do jobs like RDM/NIN or PLD/RDM because they'd like to rely on others less in game, but if someone wants to write a FAQ, it's to help those guys out.  Give them a reasonable way to use the setup.  Don't tell them they have to endure the trials of Job to do it.

Not sure want you mean by this. First DELETE is the wrong word to use, deactivate is the correct word.

WHen you want to cancel an account, do not delete any characters or they will be gone for good. Go into your accoutn settings and Cancel Content ID's. If you cancel only one, you still get charged 12.95/month even if you cancel your main character. Any first one on the list is 12.95 and other 1.00 extra.

WHen you reactivate it, you will see a lsit of the characters/content ID's you can reactivate under your POL account. The first you activate is 12.95/month any additional are 1.00 extra per month. It doesn't matter which is a mule or which is a regular account. If you actvate jsut a mule, you are charged 12.95/month for it. If you deactivate a main and leave a mule, you are still chraged 12.95/month for the first one and 1.00/month for each additional.

If you need to deactivate yoru characters to save money or go away for awhile. Do not delete characters or mules unless they are mepty and no longer usable. Deactivate the Content ID for all your characters. You can decide which to reactivate later. You don't have to reactivate all yoru mules. I have 2 that are still not reactivated.

Dude that's hillarious, because when I get my 360 back from repair (sending it tomorrow) I'll be starting this game too, and I would be starting fresh, but only because I GOT TIRED OF PSU xD awesome man.

But thanks to the guy who started this thread, I've read alot and I feel abit more prepared for this game than I normally would be. Infact I already got a class and race picked out. Hume Thief. ***, I even already decided after doing some research I'm going to the Bahamut server. Hopefully I'll only have to wait a week for it to get back like my step brother instead of longer because I dont even want to twait that long...

Hi everyone.  I used to play FFXI when it first came out on PS2, but I got an XBOX 360 yesterday and got the 2008 collection.  Would love to find some 360 friends to do some gaming with.  Feel free to add me.  See you in Vanadiel!

i should have stopped by this thread a long, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago. I decided to take a break for awhile because i cant find decent locations to level up solo since i started out in San d'Oria. but then again the only reason im really playing it is for achievements =/ first things first though, im maxing out my warrior, then working on missions for all 3 nations. maybe even the expansions. quick question though: what exactly do i do to go about maxing out my synthesis?

No Delete is right! PlayOnline explained to me that each character is tied to that specific content ID slot you purchased.Let's say you delete character and then started a new character and had only 1 content ID and leveled that character, but decided you wanted first character back. They told me ony way is to delete that character to get first back and explained buying new ID won't get old character back.I was trying to get Taru back but after  4 or 5 tries a supervisor explained how it works.

Well i see what your saying here but it seem right and wrong at the same time. But long story short, the only way you truely loose a char is if you deactivate that char's id and physically delete them from the title screen. If you just deactivate the char and not actually delete them then, if your lucky they will kinda stay in limbo. Allowing them to be re-activated whenever you choose. I actually have a mule char. that has been sitting there for over a year de-activated. I recently decided that i didn't like my taru mule and reactivated my old guy. And ta-da all his lvl's and whatever R/ex gear he had is still intact. And again this was well over a year of sitting de-activated. SE claims they delete these chars and info after a few months but it seems thats quite false, unless im just one lucky S.O.B. ((and i ain't talking Star Onion Brigade either lol))
