I have the same issue. I think I have 38 arcade games and this is the only one I can not find a work around. For others this is what I do:
For example - Speedball 2 shows up as a full game in my arcade when I am logged in to Live
I go into the game and it shows as a trial.
I then lod out of live from the speedball menu and log right back in to live while in the same menu.
The game now shows as a full version. But I have to do this every time I want to play.
Redownload worked for some of my games but the method stated above works for all that redownloading did not work for. But that is with one exception: Sonic the Hedgehog. No matter what I do I can not get this game to show as a full version. I have called and complained and they did say that they would be giving me 17,000 points to redownload these games to another profile (Silver) to this console so they would always work even when I am offline.
Here is my main concern. I got the red ring once and they sent me back a refurbished piece of crap. So I do honestly think within a year this machine will also red ring. I feel for all of us red ring will be a constant struggle until the next generation of consoles. So every time this happens, I will be making the same phone calls trying to get points given back to me in order to repurchase these.
Now lets fast forward to 5 years from now. I am no longer a member of xbox Live but still have a old dusty 360 in the closet. I get it out and feel like playing some old arcade games for nastalgic purposes, similiar to how every once in a while i break out the old Super Nintendo. I cant access all these games I spent hundreads of dollars on since the last time it red ringed, I never got points back. I imagine that near the Next Generation launch that the 360 will start to be forgotten and points will not be that easy to get back. Meaning your last 360 you get back will honestly be your last chance. You will probably just get something that will only play an actual disc.
Do you see what I am saying? If you arent currently logged into Live and you have had a replacement console then all your arcade games show up as trials. Five years from now this will probably be the case for most of us. Either Live will not exist anymore, or there will so a new and improved Live that does not reconize old gamertags, or you will be using a PS4 or Wii2 or something of that nature. So how do we make sure that we are ALWAYS able to play the games we PAID for.
They have already proven that they are not willing to fix the DRM issues. So for now they have a system that does work as long as you are logged into live. Getting the points credited will help as long as the console they are credited on never needs replaced. But being logged into Live and cnosoles lasting forever are the 2 things that have the lowest success rate in the world of 360. So yeah, for RIGHT NOW you are fixing these issues to get us out of the supports face. But we as comsumers need to think of the "what if's" in the not so distant future before we accept their ways around the DRM system.
Something needs to be done, and it needs to be done very soon. Or else microsoft will not have the support from gamers for the next generation of consoles. I for one am very close to being done all together with microsoft and this DRM issue will be the deciding factor for me. 5 years from now if I am able to plug in a 360 console and use the arcade games I bought, then maybe I will buy a microsoft product again. But for now, this is probably my last console by microsoft, my last year on Live, and with Vista acting the way it does, I may even be switching to Linux.
'Nuff said.......microsoft, this year you did 00000 things right in my mind. So I suppose it is time for a change.
