Add another person to the list who is disappointed it won't work on the PC.  The line mentioned above led me to believe it would work on xbox 360 and PC.  I guess I read it the wrong way.  It's sorta ambiguous.

C'mon Microsoft, there are so many good uses for this.

I bought the chatpad first day it came out to use with my HTPC...thought it would work based on the description on the wireless receiver and the chatpad itself. I hope they come out with the drivers pretty soon I'm tired of using a full-size keyboard on the couch! It would be awesome for a car pc too...

Well I finally sent an email to the Xbox support site as well as called the Xbox support site. I spoke to a very nice representative how basically had there hands tied on the issue. but I did send an email and they acknowledged my email with this and other official forum postings allong with the links on the issue. I requested that if they no not have an immediate answer to at least respond to the postings in their official forums. They know about the problem.  They know about this and other postings on the Xbox and the official Microsoft forum. I requested that someone from Microsoft at least acknowledge the postings and issues by responding on the forums.

I hope there is some response to the inquiries on at least one of there forums, that would at least indicate some concern and respect for the people who have taken the time to bring this problem to them.

I'm willing to bet they would sell more for the PC/car/HTPC/set-top box market then they would for the Xbox 360.  There is a HUGE market for this stuff.  Currently everyone is using huge keyboards (like myself) and they aren't ideal for this type of setup.

Considering Microsoft is trying so hard to get into folks' living rooms you'd figure this would be a "no brainer" for them to have PC drivers.

microsoft fails at life and we are disappointed yet again . big surprise

Yeah this really disappointed me. I bought the Chat Pad since I was sick of having to unplug my USB keyboard to create simple messages fast because people check them much faster than waiting for a voice message. I was happy with it and figured it would be a great accessory combined with the USB PC receiver.

So I go out and buy it online and finally get and it and find the thing doesn't support the chat pad. Now I can't take the receiver back because postage would cost more than half of what I paid for it, and the fact the clam shell packaging is impossible to open so it's torn to shreds.

Not to mention if you want to map anything to your controller you have to use 3rd part apps that are freeware, but MS should have at least tried to go beyond the absolute bare minimum support, or in this case no support at all.

So sick of MS and their defective hardware and lack of support for their products.

I thought that Microsoft was trying to link all these services together, pc and gaming and entertainment and other services - whatnot...  Why would they ever close off all possibility for this interconnection?  This seems like an absolute no brainer for the MS agenda, the only thing I can think of is that they want to sell a controller with a permanent keyboard attached, someday - then Christmas - get on the ball and just do it...  IT's BEEN 2 YEARS DUMMIES!  As so many others have mentioned - gamepad users still have to use 3rd party solutions to get gamepad support, this is absolutely rediculous.

And another month goes by with no PC Drivers. Come on MS, do something!
Or else hackers are going to hack it like they did the PSP and Iphone and then it'll be free and you'll lose money. How hard is this, even $5 a pop for the driver is well worth it for you guys to make profit. At least throw it in with your MS Wireless keyboard so you still make money.

Bump to top for some of authority from MS can comment on why this isn't being created.

I think there's been one thing missing, that keeps the drivers from appearing. In two words: CLASS ACTION. They clearly don't care about those who are trying to send messages with Windows Live Messenger. At least you can still use the on-screen keyboard with the 360 controller if you have a mouse-emulation program.

Sounds like they're marketing it to PC users to me.

I do, however, remember reading a review somewhere where they stated that PC functionality wasn't finished yet.  It's probably a driver thing.  Ultimately, I'd like to see the keyboard work on the PC, as well as one of the thumbsticks work as a mouse pointer.  I'd be incredibly happy if that worked out.

Regarding the thumbsticks as mouse comment: download xpadder... it lets you do just that... its main function is to let you use the controller with pc games that do not support it, it works great. http://xpadder.com/ .. i'm sure you can find it "elsewhere" as well.
