Hey Guys -- just noticed that you can change the controls so that the right-analog acts more like Geometry Wars (aim and shoot) -- and it is super fast (no more dog slow here).

Check it out!!

I'm not finding this option. There are 4 control schemes from what I can tell, the first 2 switching aim and move between the left or right analog, then the other 2 are the same but it says absolute aim, whatever that means. I can't tell any difference between regular aim and this absolute aim. In any case neither one allows shooting in the dirction you aim by only usning the analog stick. I still have to press RT to fire. What am I missing?

Sorry - I should have been more clear.  It is definitely 'absolute' aim that you want (point and aim) but it doesn't fire.  (i.e. it's not aim and fire).

Nonetheless being able to point and aim vs. trying to aim by not pointing (the default setting which mimics the turn dial) is a big win.

I personally love this XBLA release. Grew up playing the arcade version at the local skating rink and this brings back a lot of memories. However, one of my favorite things about the game (and movie) is the music. Whoever designed the emulation for the sound processor in this game did a sloppy job -- the music sounds awful. Thankfully, MAME does a perfect job of emulating the music from the game.

So, esteemed elder gamers, mind giving a youngin' some hints as to how to play this game well? I get destroyed by the level 3 tank wave (even though I figured out that the best trick is to shoot them diagonally over corners, there's like a million enemy tanks even on level 3!), but the rest are pretty doable.

Actually, I think the level 4 MCP tower overpowered me too. I keep getting hit even though it doesn't look like I'm touching the rainbow wall? I guess I'm just generally confused and, as always, the in-game help section isn't much help.

Hello Hux,

Try the Absolute Aim feature in the control options. khan800 suggested it to me and it does help the aiming.
My problem before Absolute Aim was that the spinner control seemed to move too slow.

Good luck

I cannot wait to get home from work to play this - the HOURS upon HOURS and QUARTER after QUARTER that I pumped into this game....

Hey Viperxb360 - where did you get the Tron ICON for your gamerprofile?  Was that part of the Tron Theme?

Thanks

Hello Pali,

Hope you get this. Seem to be having some server interruptions.

The gamerpic came from the Tron Picture Pack download (you get 6 pictures including 2 different color Light cycles)

Enjoy

Oh cool Viper, thanks for the heads up...

For the person having problems with the arm doing a complete circle before being in the right spot again, try this... just go left and right on your analog, don't use the complete 360 of the analog... this seemed to help me alot...hope that makes sense.

I read some gripes on this game, and I agree with them a bit, but really, for Nostolgiac sakes, this game is most certainly worth 5 bucks.

Brings back old memories and well worth the five bucks.  Tough Achievements would be my only gripe.  One problem is that the arcade game had a spinning knob for aiming and you could really move quick- not so with the 360 controller, which makes the extermination challenge difficult and the MCP challenges difficult, imo. But people are getting them, so maybe i'm lame.

Also, there should have been some sort of achievement for the tanks, especiallly the second or third level.

Speaking of Achievements -- I am having a difficult time getting Bugkiller (kill all Grid Bugs on the Level 1 Tower) -- has anyone managed to do this yet (any tips if so)?

I'm OK with the control system (I wish you could speak up the "spinning" of the controls, though), but the bad sound emulation makes my ears bleed. =(

Change the control scheme to 'absolute aim' (if the Demo lets you do this) -- makes a big difference.

Maybe if they'd release a patch where you can change the speed at which the spinner turns, absolute aim would be perfect. That's the only major gripe I have with it right now, other than the sound and music being a bit off.

Ironically, in enhanced graphic mode, the music is dead on...

I remember a game called tron 2.0 basically a fps but there was a light cycle kinda minigame wich was an absolute blast online and offline, a movie was supposed to be released at that time but i never saw any new news about it ....... that alone could be an invaluable addition to the tron line of games .... and of course the speed and graphics were awesome , nothing like the tiny arena and the tiny cycle in tis game.... wich i enjoy nonetheless :)
You should quit while i'm ahead...

Awesome! I didn't even try the Enhanced Graphic Mode until you said that about the music. You're right, the music is now perfect... unfortunately, the Enhanced Graphics are pretty lame. :P
