Whaa? AA isn't even on your games played list.

There is a demo out though.

The release date for Operation Flashpoint 2 has not yet been announced. Arma2 (Armed Assault 2) however has been announced for 2008 (Nothing more specific). Here's the OFFICIAL Arma 2 site :

The 360 is in diar need of a good military sim IMO. These two look like a buy to me. Have to wait and see how they shape up.

I have been giving ArmA a good go on the PC. In terms of realism, map size(200 sq km), and variety it destroys this game(poor graphics though). Still, AATS beats everything currently available in terms of being a realistic military sim for the 360.

Hopefully ArmA2 or OPF2 actually keeps the large map size, realism, and variety that the PC contains. Otherwise, it will be a total failure.

Both OPF2 and ArmA2 look solid judging  from trailers. they have the graphics of a COD4 (especially OPF2 w/ the neon engine its using) and the tacticality of a AA:TS.  OOOH, cant wait.

AATS isn't really as strategic in terms as OPF and ArmA. They use maps that are over 200 sq. km with boats, jets, helos, tanks, civilian vehicles, and countless types of infantry. The longest shot I have made in GR or AA was around 300-500m, the longest shot I have made in ArmA was around 1.2 km with an M107. They both require strategy, but ArmA is on a much larger scale with many more options.

If you have a decent computer I STRONGLY suggest you pick ArmA up. The MP is great if you really get into it. It is NOT a game you just play every once in a while with random people. The SP is decent, but the AI is not that great. It is extremely difficult.

Well, ArmA2 is coming out for PC and next gen consoles, right? My PC is crap. I read a link that MS may try to give us a keyboard for 360,mainly for UT3, but Im not getting that so its possible to use it for Flashpoint and ArmA I think.

As I've said in the past and I'll say again: OFP2, ARMA2, RW are the only games I know of that have a chance at taking my focus off of AA:TS... To whoever said that we need better/more military sims, you are right on. I can't get myself interested in any other type of game anymore it seems. .

The first OFP also had optional third person view and its the most realistic FPS to date.

Dude, its a video game.  To try an achieve realism in it is to put third person view so you can see what is going on to your left and right, the whole battlefield ,without having to move your body or as if you had a broken neck that is FPV.  TPV simulates neck movement.  In FPS view you cannot do that, that is why you can get hit easily on your left and right and cannot react accordingly because you can't see it.  .

Third personing corners is what they have to work on.,  THey have to somehow when you get to a corner it brings you into FPV and when you step out of the corners it comes back to TPV.

Operation Flashpoint takes place on such a large battlefield in open areas that the unrealistic benefits of TPV aren't even noticed.

And I think thats what really separates it from other sims as well. I was pleased to hear that Codemaseters was keeping their end up in that they are still trying to achieve the greatest actual, authentic combat experience they can rather than sell more copies as an arcadey game.

Im really on the fence as o whether or not buy AA:TS. I need something to hold me off until Flashpoint,so what do you guys think.

I think some people fall drop dead in love with AA:TS, and the rest call it the worst game ever made... I've never met anyone who falls in a gray area, so I'd call it a crap shoot. It is realistic, and a very good tactical game, it can be made fast paced by turning on encounter, 15 second death timer, and throwing 203's in, but this is really against the gameplay style intended for America's Army (Based on the original computer gameplay). If you want a genuine experience the only way to play, is Survival, 45 or 30 second kill timer, True Soldier, 1 203 or none per team, and work methodically as a team. You'll also find the people who play in this manner tend to dominate the players who fall back to encounter play-styles, and warp the game into a bad run and gun GRAW rip off...

The game is pretty much worthless if you don't have a group you can play this game with. It is a great game for cooperative missions.

I'd definitely sign that petition to bring backwards compatibility to Operation Flashpoint.  I'm waiting patiently for the 2nd one but with no definite word on it, I'm not really holding my breath.  If Xbox brings over the first one though, I'd be content until 2 is released.

I'm not really sure on where to start with a petition though I have never really done one. If someone else knows how to do please do it. I got the email to there backwards compat support backcomp@microsoft.com they said that they read every email so maybe if we all email them they will do it.
