Operation Flashpoint takes place on such a large battlefield in open areas that the unrealistic benefits of TPV aren't even noticed.
And I think thats what really separates it from other sims as well. I was pleased to hear that Codemaseters was keeping their end up in that they are still trying to achieve the greatest actual, authentic combat experience they can rather than sell more copies as an arcadey game.
Im really on the fence as o whether or not buy AA:TS. I need something to hold me off until Flashpoint,so what do you guys think.
I think some people fall drop dead in love with AA:TS, and the rest call it the worst game ever made... I've never met anyone who falls in a gray area, so I'd call it a crap shoot. It is realistic, and a very good tactical game, it can be made fast paced by turning on encounter, 15 second death timer, and throwing 203's in, but this is really against the gameplay style intended for America's Army (Based on the original computer gameplay).
If you want a genuine experience the only way to play, is Survival, 45 or 30 second kill timer, True Soldier, 1 203 or none per team, and work methodically as a team. You'll also find the people who play in this manner tend to dominate the players who fall back to encounter play-styles, and warp the game into a bad run and gun GRAW rip off...
