Yeah, I have to say also really dissapointed with Empires. Tally mode is a complete joke, ( May the best camper win).

And since when did it become easy to camp?  You act as if anybody can just sit on a level buzzing with enemies and shoot them all down no problem?

It is a rather goofy way to score points, but only a skilled player will be able to do this.
Wow, you actually think its hard to camp in Empires. My 8 year old sister can camp on level 2-1 and get a million points. Camping is not for the elite players, ANYONE, can do it. Thanks for your post though, I needed a good laugh.
Mutant Storm Tally 2nd Place, Adventure 3d place, 161 million.

25 Million, YOU WILL BE MINE!!!!!!. Currently 24,968,000

To make up an exaggerated example to give you an idea of what I mean; imagine them filling room 1 in MSE with enemies covering every last square millimeter. You'd take a hit instantly when you spawn. It'd be hard and doable, but it'd be pretty damn crappy difficulty design.
I understand.  I did comment about the game being less intelligently designed but I don't think I agree about the example.  If you spawned, you died.  If you die, you're less skillful.  If you're less skillful your score will be lower.

Honestly, I'm not trying to be annoying, but I still don't have a single clue as to what you're trying to say.
Nor do I with you. Please comment in a specific manner and I'll comment further.

The rest of the mechanics, strictly as far as scoring systems go, are still exactly the same.
The "rest" of the mechanics (but not all).  Sure.  I agree they are very similar, but not identical.

 DROGTURIST wrote:
Again; I have no idea what this means.
That's ok.

Everyone is allowed to their opinions.  I have already said you have brought up legitimate concerns, most of which I agree with;  except one.  I do not feel that your concerns "cross-over" into the game being "less skillful".  I just don't.  Not yet.  Maybe in the future, and maybe not.

I have to admit I haven't played the first game in almost a year or more.  I'm sure the players that played that game more often surely would have a better idea about game mechanics, skill and comparative analysis between the two games.  But I am also free of that bias.

"Man you noob, my 8 year old sister can do dat sheet!"

Dude, relax.  You misunderstood me.  I'm obviously not just talking about one easy part of the game, and ONLY blasting baddies so one doesn't die.

(real post)

Dude, relax.  You misunderstood me.  I'm obviously not just talking about one easy part of the game, and ONLY blasting baddies so one doesn't die.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are certain sections that one can combo for a chosen length of time.  For example the two colored balls in the first world (I think) that spit out from the walls.  They will keep flying out until you kill the "boss" behind them.

These can be comboed right?  I'm not exactly sure, it's been awhile.

There are going to be players that can can get maximum points at that instance (or other ones).  What are maximum points? Maximum points are comboing EVERYTHING without killing the boss (not technically a boss) for the perfect length of time to supplement their score.

Lesser players would be like your 8 year old sister.  Just blasting the balls and that's it.

Nice score in adv mode BTW.

Aren't you timed in Tally Mode?

If there's a time limit in Tally Mode I don't see a problem.

If there's no time limit then Tally Mode really is broken.

It should be timed and remaining time should be totalled as a high bonus.

Yeah, there's a time limit in tally mode. I totally agree with the getting a time bonus thing. Now tally mode is all about who can camp the longest.

Re: Is anyone else kinda...really disappointed?
There is a time-limit, but there are rooms( 2-1) where you can just sit in a corner and combo. While there are some rooms that require more skill (3-1), there are others that are just pathetic. I Just wish there werent any camping levels. Ohh Well, beggars cant be choosers.

There is a time limit in Tally Mode.

I'm starting to see why they have time limits now and not time bonuses.  We simply have in this game "infinity" baddie respawns (in some places).  If you also have a "time bonus" that supplement the infiniti respawns, now the player has to figure out through a lot of trial and error the best payoff between finishing quickly and comboing certain sections for predetermined lengths of time for some extra points.

Bottom line: Infinity respawns forced the "take-out" of time bonuses and the addition of time limits - and hence: more design has been put into combos.

Solution: Take out infinity respawns so that it then makes sense again to add a time bonus.

(when I say infinity respawns, I mean you have the option to stay and shoot or to pass on by)

Re: Is anyone else kinda...really disappointed?
This is probably the best arcade game I've ever played. The time limits in all modes is wonderful, and if you play it enough you can see how to maximize points. The complaints about camping I've read here seem...well...ridiculous. It does take skill to maximize your points on all the different levels as well as timing it correctly on some of them so you can get your shield bonus. Like World 1, Level 2, for example. I currently have the second high score on Tally mode for World 1, Level 2, 100 points behind Bruntski. It really takes some skill, I think, to get the point total Bruntski has on this level right now. And it's addictive.
