Well I'm sure it took more effort than most of us (not speaking for everyone) were willing to use just to post.

Form works in Copyright Law, so he is a good "go to" guy for this stuff.

Let me be very clear, I have absolutely NO issue with kids posting in these family forums at all.  Hopefully it's a good way to help break down the barriers between adult and younger gamers.  There are a lot of threads around here that ask our opinion or say "I see it this way, what do you think?" and they lead to good discussions.  My concern had been that almost once a week we get bashed as a group for being poor parents because apparently it is our kids wrecking Live.  There are a few of us who have to repeat the same statements over and over again (which is in part in my first post) and we got tired of it.  I was hoping to deflect some of those threads from even happening.

I am all in favor of more understanding between the two gaming demographics, but am strongly opposed to ignorant accusations.  Hope that helps, and I wouldn't feel bad about posting here at all.  No one should unless they are looking to cause trouble.  Flame wars don't work in this community, and it's not tolerated.  They either get ignored or deleted very quickly.  Disagreements are fine, but flaming... well, hopefully as adults and parents we've outgrown that garbage by now.

Well said ethanjude.

Also, geuaxin2tigervl, I apologize for outright saying you shouldn't post. You are a young person that is enterested in what adults and parents have to say and/or think about topics. I just meant that for those young people that have no enterest in what we're saying other than to cause problems. I'm a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong. In fact, I wish more young people would be as enterested in what parents/adults have to say about topics. After all, we were kids once too, and I know that I certainly wasn't perfect.

Sincerely, Pastor Oldtimer001 (aka Pastor Cary)

I'm posting a little late but I refer people to this thread a lot. This is a very good post and should be stickied. Perhaps JD will do us the favor?

I hope so too.  Too many cry babies come here whining about issues that they need to direct at other people.

When they stickied that one thread in the general discussion about common questions and the 3 red light thing was included in that, it cut down those threads big time.  Hopefully this will get stickied.

Yeah, these kinds of threads actually help. I made an attempt at one about the Fall update threads but it fell upon deaf ears and flamers. LoL! Oh well... This is more of a personal issue though. We need this fixed. I'm sick of hearing fourteen year old kids complaining about our "immature brats."

Same here.  They need to direct their rants towards parents who aren't active in their children's gaming habits and this is not the place to do it.

I agree. Perhaps we could all come together and figure out a good outlet for them to vent into. Something productive maybe...

I tried that in the OP.  The problem is the solutions are too much like work.

I don't mind venting for venting sake.  It's the accusations that really bug me.  If someone came in and just wanted to be reassured that there are smart parents out here (at least when it comes to our kids gaming) that's fine, but to call us the root is just silly.

Unfortunately, the most common posters of these threads have the "older sibling mentality." (Like that term? Wink [;)]) They come in screaming about how we need to control our kids. It's the exact same as an older sibling screaming at their parent to get their baby brother or sister out of their room. All they want to do is complain instead of reasoning with the situation. "Dad, come fix this!"

So, in essence, they are being just as childish. (I'm sure many of you have already realized the irony in their posts.)

Love the thread EJ. I'm also sorry I was late to the party.Party!!! [<:o)]

I myself have always thought of this forum (with the exception of the founding thread "aka GamerDads/GamerParents") as a  place for anyone that is part of a Family that games to discuss whatever maybe relevant to just that. A place to get advice on what games might be good for your 5 year old, or the great time you had playing with your Dad or Uncle over the past weekend/holiday/visit. I hope I'm not the only one who views these forums in that way.

geauxN2tigervil let me say, I'm pleased that you have an interest in what Moms and Dads think about gaming. I can't offer you the traditional MO first one (at least if you're not of legal age), but how about a slice of pie.Pizza [pi]

Now let's see if we can't get this stickied. Everyone report the OP, and ask for a sticky. Peace all, and good gaming.

Honestly... why bother?

Nice job Ethan.  I think your OP is probably the best post I've seen from you so far (and that's saying a lot).  I completely agree and support what Butcher says above about this community being an avenue to get Xbox gaming more inviting as a family form of entertainment.  Gamerparents, to me, is just as much about parenting as it is being parented.  My perspective on that brings back to that Christmas where my dad spent his raise buying my sister and I an Atari 800 and setting it up Christmas morning so we can play Pac Man on the family tv.  An amazing and memorable family moment.  I think gaming, these days, has SO much opportunity to bring those moments home as well.  Unfortunately, "hardcore  gaming" and kids/family gaming don't mix much.  Xbox has a lot of potential as a family-style platform AND a hardcore platform.  A lot of how that works is up to us, the gaming community, not necessarily Microsoft or ESRB or retailers.  WE need to make these changes happen.

Gamerparents is a place to start from.  ...nuff said.

I know how you feel. I run into that problem on several other sites. I usually let an admin or some other mod do it so I don't feel like a dweeb. Smile [:)]

You will do us all proud. You have no idea how long I have wanted you to be recognized. The process takes forever but it will be worth it with all of the help you can give.

I read earlier in the thread someone was stating nobody besides parents should be posting here. I disagree. While I'm not a parent, it doesn't neccesarily mean I can't agree/disagree from threads here in this section.

if you'd kindly read on a little further, ethanjude corrects that thought by saying we should welcome it.  just fyi.

Keep reading and you'll notice that I said the same thing. But we worked it out and agree not only parents could post here. In fact, we agreed it would be beneficial to the community for non-parents to discuss their ideas.

I read that too but I'm glad to see that it was corrected in the following posts.  I'm new here but I come from a background with some time spent in a couple of family-friendly PC gaming clans and appreciate the younglings .02 pennies from time to time.
