Re: Ninja Gaiden II DLC Issues [UPDATED]

Yea- they pulled the MM DLC, but why didn't they pull the title update since that seems to be a main cause of issue?

Seems a little bass ackwards to me. What a mess- how could this not be discovered in testing/certification?

Don't worry, I brought all of my digital weapons.

They test it after they sell it to us! Why pay or recruit beta testers when you can sell it directly to the customer?.....And then say "Hold up while we fix it!"

Yeah, where's my check for taking part in testing this game?

I also froze up before the final fight scene, black screen and vibrating controller. Didn't download the MM, just the update. This REALLY sucks.

Re: Ninja Gaiden II DLC Issues [UPDATED]
You can fix the freezing problem by clearing your 360's cache.  Go to the dashboard, select memory, hold "Y" and press "X, X, RB, LB, X,X".  It clears the update, leaves your game saves, and lets you continue on.

I was at the last save statue before Dagra Dai on my Mentor run, did that, and was able to finish the game and get the achievement.   The downside is you can't log into Live afterwards, so your achievement isn't timestamped, and you can't upload your karma score.

But if you're like me, you just want to finish your run.  And that method works.

Re: Ninja Gaiden II DLC Issues [UPDATED]
Well, it's obviously the title update that's the biggest problem and that's also what makes things crash in various points in the game. It's not just in chapter 14 right before dicking it out with Dagra Dai.
I had this issue after downloading the title update in chapter 12 I believe right after beating the two fire armadillos while zooming in on the green ball in the scene and also in chapter 13 entering a door cutscene where things hanged when the screen went white in the scene.

Basically getting rid of the problem's easy, just get rid of the update and all's peachy. Doing this doesn't take too long and it doesn't affect your game's achievements, saves or anything else in any way. Ya can easily finish the game that way. However, since ya can't login to XLive w/o the latest update, you also can't upload your karma score to the leaderboards. And unfortunately there's no possibility of going back to a save point after the cutscenes before facing Dagra Dai, so the trick of going through the cutscene w/o the update and then download the update after saving it that way won't work. It's also impossible as far as I know to upload your scores to the leaderboards afterwards since it seems the only time you can upload is at the end of a chapter, but that only works when you're actually on XLive.

But overall, if you don't need your scores on the leaderboards, just remove the update pack and have fun. Doing so only takes a moment after all.

I see a lot of community posts.  Has it been confirmed that the freezing I'm experiencing before the dagra dai fight is due to the auto update?

Dunno what's the official word, but ya can take my word for it.
I tested several sections of the game like I mentioned above with the update and w/o it, I never even saw the mission pack in my marketplace, so it's obviously got nothing to do with that.
With the forced update you crash unbelieveably hard, while after deleting it ... well ... it was all smooth sailing again through those cutscenes that made my console crash a few moments earlier with the update still installed.

I just find it incredibly annoying that they pulled the mission pack from XLive, but not the forced update. Since now I'm screwed since I can't finish the game and upload my scores because they disable XLive and therefore also the leaderboards w/o downloading and installing it. So I either finish w/o the possibility of score upload or I just have to wait it out.
For now I'm thinking of waiting it out, but it damn well better not take too long. They should just quit forcing us to install that *** up update and then we can all get back to playing it right and then they can work on fixing their update as long as they want, but now we're in limbo and that's so annoying.

Well, I think you're screwed on that one. New achievements were part of the DLC mission pack I assume, but even if you delete the mission pack you'll still retain those achievements. And therefore you'll always keep a part of the flawed update ... probably.
I guess that's why you're still having the problem. But even so, I recommend trying to remove the update anyway. Just try clearing the whole cache, it really doesn't have much of an impact if you're on a broadband internet connection since then it only takes mere moments for an update to finish. But be sure to remove the downloaded mission pack too though, it only causes grief anyway. That's a downloaded file, so it won't be deleted just from clearing your cache so you'll have to do that manually.

Anyway ...
To clear your Xbox 360 memory cache, do the following: go to the "System" blade and select your console's hard drive. With the hard drive selected, press Y to get into the HDD functions, now input the following button combination: Y, X, X, LB, LB, X, X. A message will appear asking you if you wish to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices. Select "Yes," and within a few moments your Xbox 360 hard drive will clear its memory cache.
Just in case:
Keep in mind that clearing the memory cache will remove all software updates that you may have downloaded for other games, so you'll need to go and download the updates again. That fact alone obviously makes this an advanced technique that could have unintended consequences in the wrong hands. But really, it's not like you're deleting anything essential, so little real trouble can come from it. After all, I've been doing it all the time today with NG2 going all *** up on me time and time again.

Anyway, hope that helps.

Heheh, that sucks.
Then I guess I'm glad I hadn't downloaded the Mission Mode Pack yet. I only had the auto-update done so far. A good thing, otherwise I wouldn't even have been able to play as far as I currently have, which is right at the end of chapter 14, but no more save points after this before uploading karma score makes me wait for now.
Besides, I never even saw the Mission Pack in the store, musta already been taken down when I checked it. Smile [:)]

Oh well, I guess it's tough luck then for the peeps who already jumped on the Mission Mode early on. Indifferent [:|]

I had already deleted the hole game (game saves etc) the update i don't think was the problem for mine i think it was just the mission mode. If you check my gamer score you will not see the extra achievements added to to my total score so even though i unlocked it it was not added and that's when every thing started messsing up so now i have to play the game over

Re: Ninja Gaiden II DLC Issues [UPDATED]

Sounds like it's still not working for everybody else... Here's what I did.

To make the game stop telling me that my storage device is disconnected, I done the cache deletion code, deleted my profile (or rather moved it off the HDD, to a memory unit) then recovered my profile to the HDD via Xbox Live. Someone in the Technical Issues forum done this and said it worked, so I done it and it does. Maybe I didn't have to do the profile thing, but I did.

Upon loading the game again, I declined the update. Game worked, but the mission mode I'd downloaded wasn't showing up. I booted the game again, accepted the update.

I was told my storage device was disconnected once, straight away but never again. Mission mode was there, so I selected it. I'd already completed 4 missions, and the achievement popped up for the second time, but this time registered.

I completed one more mission, after which the game froze (seems like that first achievement is still poison.) But when I re-loaded the game, there were no problems. I've been playing mission mode happily, online, with achievements to show for it. And I didn't have to delete any game or DLC data.

So I suggest other people who still have Mission Mode to try these steps.

Re: Ninja Gaiden II DLC Issues [UPDATED]

I'm assuming most of you guys figured this out, but for those of you who have already downloaded mission mode and got a corrupt achievement, clearing the cache and recovering your gamertag should make mission mode playable (although the freeze glitch still applies when you go online and get the update).

I on the other hand downloaded mission mode and luckily only completed 3 missions, none of which were survival missions then stopped playing mission mode until the guys on gamerscoreblog said it was fixed. I have been currently playing mission mode with no problems and the achievements are unlocking and regestering correctly. Thank god I didn't get any issues with the "bad" achievements. This is exactly what has happened to me last night. I'm going to try to clear the cache as soon as I get a chance to play the game again. This is ridiculous though. The first game was a polished masterpiece. Now it feels as though we get a rushed product, same from any other developer. I've really been let down with this title.

I had my first issue with the update today. I played through chapters 12 and 13 w/o an issue using this update. However, on chapter 14 when I was in the green tunnel and it cuts to show Dagra Dai resurrecting the Archfiend the screen went black three different times. I cleared the update and no problem with the cut scene. We need an update to fix the update Surprise [:O]

Also, I do not have the MM content because when I went to download it it was already taken down.

Has any issue come up about my predicament? Because I cannot even go into the main menu before I have a message saying. This active gamer profile active on the Hard Drive has been disconnected and then I will do that and then I will go back to the main menu and it will give me the same issue. For some odd reason I got an achievement at the end of Mission Mode and the ending thing where after you complete the mission, it froze.

Bingo - That's the exact same issue I ran into.  Never got the MM because it was taken down before I could buy it and never had a problem with the auto-update UNTIL that point in Chapter 14.  Just before the fight with Dagra Dai (when the cinema starts to load), it's a hard-lock / black screen - do no pass go, do not collect $200. Indifferent [:|]

I cleared the cache and declined the update just so I could finish my current playthrough (which worked), but the auto-update definitely hoses the game at that exact point in Chapter 14.  Hopefully it will be fixed later today (fingers crossed)...

LOL.  Funny as heck.  I'm on the Tonfa achievement also.  Same exact thing happened.  In the tunnel going to Dagra Dai it goes black and the controller vibrates and it just sits there.  Nothing.  3 bosses from a tonfa achievement and this happens.  Very very unhappy with this.

I was just trying to beat the game for the first time. Imagine my pain, but I did clear the cache then play it offline. The first two stages of the boss were a pain in the ***, but the final stage was a breeze.
