It's only the graphics that make it look realistic, not the renbu system. What do you mean, button mashing on the old games? On this game you practically press the same button the whole time to do the same attack every time.
Who knows, the new Dynasty Warriors special might bring back all these elements.
I think the reason Koei did this is because they realized if they are going to create another installment of Dynasty Warriors. They are going to have to do some drastic change. I mean, jesus, this is the 6th installment. Not much has improved from any of them until now. They needed to give an incentive to buy this one. They did, and it worked. People either hated it or loved it. But they did what they needed to make another installment without it being completely rediculous.
Just sayin' on the Dynasty Warriors 6: Special, as of right now I believe it's only going to be released on PS2, but there is still a possibiltiy that you could download it over LIVE or PSN...for a price(I don't think it'll happen at this rate). The only things that are different in this "special" version is that now these people have a unique moveset and I think a musou mode as well:
Ma Chao - Huge sword...what the duck?
Cao Pi - An even longer sword than before
Ling Tong - If you've played as Hideyoshi Toyotomi in SW2, Ling Tong has the same weapon now
Yue Ying - Instead of a bow she has a Crossbow...
Zhang He - He got his claws back
Taishi Ci - He got his twin rods back
Other than that they've also added more maps/levels because of the new additions in musou mode I think.
The one thing that angers me about this is that if all of this could fit on a PS2 disc, then they should have been able to do so much more with the 360 and PS3, but the game was rushed for reasons I'm too lazy to explain right now.
