I rented a Volkswagon GTI for a trip from DC to NY a few months back and it was a fun ride.  Acceleration is great and good speed...doesn't even feel like you are going 120 when dodging in and out on the Jersey Turnpike lol  Though I guess my point of view is kinda skewed when I'm used to driving a Sentra lol

hehe yeah VW makes a solid car. Ive had the Jetta since about feb 99 with 82,000 on the ODO and besides the normal maitenence, All I have had to replace was the timing chains and a power steering pump, cars got 162,000 on the clock now and still runs like a champ

Autobahn born machines, that why it didnt feel like like 120 on the turnpike beacuse there soo solid!!

I bought a 2001 VW Jetta in 2007 and mounted an aftermarket Rieger kit. It has 1,6 l engine with 105 bhp lol.
What I payed for that one here in Norway? 17 793,86 US dollars. (120.000,- Norwegian kr.)
And it was a bargain price since it is Highline-equipped and had short mileage. I hate Norwegian prices....
