Reading the dreams is really a good idea they are very emotional sometimes and it helps you understand how the immortals feel about living that long and what they have been through.

Re: Who here has cried?

many many many years ago when I was going through FF8 I got extremely drunk and I started Break Dancing to some random FF8 music then an hour later I was crying to the "Roses and Wine" song as well as the music that plays when you're  remeniscing about that guy in a town who's name starts with an L.. I really don't remember his name.. Laguna or something.

I really didn't have any emotions @ the end of LO *which I beat yesterday*

Though, the Dreams have almost made me tear up a few times.

Re: Assunto: Re: Who here has cried?

Haha! I cried when I read the dream about the little girl at the tavern. That was so eloquently written and entrancing and the end of it was like a punch in the gut.

I bawled when Lirum died and then about a month later, my girlfriend got to that part and when she started crying, I lost it, too. XD

The story about Kaim working with a friend at the docks who gets married to the girl that is in love with Kaim really got me, too. That sucked.

A lot of people including the majority of my friends skip those stories because they're "too long" and you have to read them. If you don't want story, why are you playing an RPG in the first place? It may shock some people to know that many, many moons ago, you had to read all RPGs.

I don't mean to sound like I'm attacking anyone or judging them for playing the way they play, but it's a shame they're missing out on one of the greatest facets of the game.

Sakaguchi ftw.

Yeah ,I am a sensitive type.  Heck, I got teary at the end of Final Fantasy IX! Its ok to cry, just make sure you have the perfect cover....Like, "Ouch, I banged my foot underneath the desk!" Or..."That's not a tear, I just yawned, its involuntary!". I don't know why it is so taboo for men to cry (At least in my generation), but I do feel the need to cover it up...I think I let my wife only see me cry 3 times in over 20 years.( 2 were deaths...so its allowed)"

Well the death of Lirum was very touching, at least for me. I lost my mother a year ago, and I'm still very emotional about that.
I read all the stories: must say, they're very well written, they all talk about death and suffering, but nothing compared to Lirum's sequence.

I'm not ashamed of it, yes, I did shed some tears during the game so far.  First with "Hannah's Departure", at Lirum's death and furneral, during "White Flowers" and "Letters from a Weakling" dream.

The story is so well written that anyone who has a heart has to feel the emotion quite strongly, not neccessarily cry, but still.  I would think that LO would make an excellent book as well.

Same here.  It was extremely well-presented.  I guarded myself from being affected because all the reviews mentioned how moving the game was.

I cried, it`s a very sad game, I really like that. But I don`t think it will make me cry the way I did with Final Fantasy X.

I have to admit the death of Lirium got me too. Especially because they built it up so subtly too. (no spoilers) It was unexpected and I loved the plot twist, it was great.

I found a lot of the Dreams to get me sad, one even close to teary, but I haven't. I know Lirum's death got me really depressed though. I haven't seen such touching story telling in a long time.

Re: Who here has cried?
Quite a few of the dreams have made me tear up - and I'm not afraid to admit it.  That's just well crafted storytelling - and the proof of having some emotions on my part *wink*.

I think it helps having kids.  I think about what would happen if (heaven forbid) I lost my girls or they lost me/my wife.  The one about the soldier that dove in front of Kaim (the immortal - ironic) and took a bullet as, what?  He was on his way home to see his wife and daughter.  Ouch.  :(

Lirum made me tear up, too, but it was because I can relate; I've been where they were.  Lost my Mom a while back, too.  No fun.

Lots of death and suffering in the dreams, true, but they do echo the pain and sadness that an immortal would see throughout their journeys.  The world - real or imagined - is replete with suffering.  Their longevity as opposed to mortals would definitely expose them to way more than necessary.

All this talk about Lirum's passing - makes me want to get the accessory/treasurre that allows you to go back and view different parts of the game just to see it again.  Although, I'm on Disk 3 and don't want the game to end - unless they announce LO2.  :)

My condolences, Renzokuken79.

"Bright Rain" always gets me. A little boy - so full of wonder - he has no idea that the bright rain is so so cruel. That story choked me up more than anything else in the game. How innocence can just be completely snatched away.

Roger that, Dr. S-pants.  That one got me, too.  Amazing indeed how innocence can be lost in such a way.  Another (albeit fictional in this case) example of the cold, cruel world outside...

Re: R: Who here has cried?

I cried at the Lirum sequence, and it depressed me thoroughly.... I don't remember any of the dreams making me cry, but there were several of them that also really depressed me. And to echo a few of the others in this thread, the only other time a game has made me cry was at the end of FFX. Part of it, I think was that I wasn't expecting the game to really build on the characters and the story the way it did. I have been an RPG fan for years, and have really loved most of the stories that many companies did, especially SE. But, FFX was the first RPG that really got me invested in the characters. Before that it was kinda like, man, I can't believe Aeris is dead... I wonder when I'm gonna get me next summon materia. The whole point is that LO did an exceptional job building that attachment to the characters.

I hated Jansen by the way. I thought he was incredibly annoying and overacted. But it was about half way through the game when he finally got me. He is one of my favorite characters now.

For the love of God, please let the word noob just die already.
