I have a Vizio 27in HDTV with a xbox arcade with 120gig HD using the HDMI cable just before the NXE audio worked just after it did not. I tried many thing snone of them worked. I am curently using the AV cable that came with the XBOX and it has sound. Just figured I'd throw this model of TV in the mix.

Here's the solution to everbody's problem. I found it on the PSN website believe it or not.
1.Remove the HDD while the 360 is off.
2. Turn on the 360 and wait for the 360 Dashboard to load.
3. Insert the HDD (while system is still on) and wait for it to load up.
4. Wait and listen.
This happened to me and I tried this so I know it works. Vizio 26" HDMI cable.
It's apparently only happenin to HD users.

Don't know why it was on that website SeraWolf, but I am sure a member there likely got by calling Xbox Support on the phone.

So the updated steps we have that have already been mentioned to some degree around the Xbox.com forums are:

1. Turn off your Xbox 360 Console.
2. Disconnect any storage devices from the console such as the Hard Drive and any Memory Units
3. Turn on your Xbox 360 Console. See if your audio is working.
4. Re-attached your Hard Drive. This will then restart the console
5. Check again if your audio is now working.

In addition, please make sure that you have tried doing the troubleshooting steps in the below support article.

No I'm not looking for a way to downgrade.  I'm looking for MS to fix this issue, ASAP.  I just bought a new Xbox360 for the HDMI out (I own a first gen one that doesn't have HDMI out, oh yeah and the drive won't read game discs any more...it was the third  one, second replacement for my first one which had the power supply brick and then the rrod) - $299; I just bought the HDMI cable for it $59; and I just bought an HDMI switcher $109.

Hello everyone,

First, what HDTV are you using? Second, have you tried using your component or composite cable and connecting using the analog red and white cables? Can you receive audio through a stereo cable connection?

Edit: So for the HDMI cable connection, you can also try using the HDMI audio adapter's red and white cable connection.

Please tell me that the proferred solution is "work around it and use a mess of crappy cables!"

Same problem... 360 Elite hooked up to my Vizio through HMDI. However, I can't even get audio when I hook it up thorugh the AV cables. Not quite sure what's going on, but I didn't buy this TV to have it not play my Xbox through HDMI. Needs a fix soon!

The post about removing your harddrive worked, but only that one time that I removed the harddrive. If I want to have sound everytime I play I'm going to have to turn my console on, remove the harddrive, plug in the harddrive, and then I can play with audio... Completely bogus.

Re: No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)

Same problem here (no sound when HDMI cable routed thru Samsung Plasma tv) - and yes, it worked before the update.

I tried the above tips:

But it initially did not work - I had to do it several times before it worked, and found at one point, that the SOUND EFFECTS under the Audio settings was disabled - so enabled it again.  I also unplugged a USB memory stick and the hardwire power cord to the controller before booting it up without the hard drive.

Shutting down the 360 required that I go through the whole routine again, and plug the disk drive back in to force a reboot.

Hope they get it fixed reasonably soon, as this is a pain.

Just thought I'd say HDMI isn't working for me either. Yes, this is bogus.  I just wanted to play a little COD before going to bed, and now I have to deal with this crap?!  This is not good for my health or for anyone around me!

I got it guys!  NXE sucks at the startup, took me 1 hr going back and forth fiddled with my HDMI cable, strolled online all the way sought for the answer.....what a drag!  Now I think it's my mission to spread the words.

Credit to 'PXG S3' from PS3Forums, how ironic....
