Re: No support for chatpad :-(
Maybe they could patch in the support for the msg kit.   It seems totally obvious that this game could and should use that.  MS really slipped up on this one.

Re: No support for chatpad :-(

Same here...I almost went crazy because the chatpad worked the first time I played, then wouldn't work afterwards. Just to reiterate what rcl9451 said:

1. Power up two wireless controllers
2. Make sure the second player controller has the chatpad attached
3. Startup Coffeetime Crosswords and use the second player controller to play the game
4. The chatpad should work!

It's still a little clanky because you have to move the cursor everytime you type a letter, but still wayyy quicker than the virtual keyboard wheel in the game.

Cheers!

So any word on if this game has been patched to use a chatpad w/just one remote?

I got the game for my wife to play, and (easy/simple) chatpad support would be great!

It's funny: Merv Griffin's Crosswords contains one thousand puzzles - over five times what Coffeetime Crosswords does - and they're better puzzles, with a much greater challenge level, themes, and - you guessed it - chatpad support.  You can also play them as a game show if you like.  I daresay that Coffeetime Crosswords is essentially obsoleted now...  (To be fair, the puzzles aren't individually numbered and selectable, which I could see to be a major downside to some, and the way one selects clues rather than cells is really weird, especially since there doesn't seem to be any means of writing a partial entry.)  - ZM
Darkness lessons learned/Avenging golden tresses/Yellow flower blooms

Thanks for the reply. Not really what I wanted to hear sadly :(

I had already tried out the Merv Griffin's Crosswords game, but didn't like it as much.
Oh well. Guess I will just use the "work-around" method...

Exactly. You really got to be very careful about buying any extra peripherals for the 360. Half of them are obsolete. Chatpad? Camera? HD-DVD? I think MS is making too many "fad of the day" type stuff.

WOW, you are sounding like a PS3 fanboy, I use my chatpad every day for messeging friends and I use the camera on a regular basis for gaming and video chats.

If you don't want to use these options, don't buy them. No one is breaking your arm.
