Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
Would love Shenmue II on XBLA-Originals.  It has long been almost impossible to find in the UK, and I would much rather give my money to MS and Sega to download the game, than pay £15 for a second-hand copy of which no money will go to the publishers and creators.

It must surely be easy to do, unless there is some sort of contractural nightmare between MS and Sega.

If we get Shenmue II on Originals - who knows where we might go from there?

Thanks!

Been rather distracted lately due to the birth of my son Big Smile [:D] (( he was several weeks early Huh? [:^)]))but I just wanted to inject that I am VERY down for the Arbor Day idea and hope some of the rest of you take part too.

Sometime in the week I will get back with some more Shenmue news from across the wild binary yonder and as always ...

...SEGA/MICROSOFT,PLEASE GIVE THE WORLD -
1. Shenmue 1 brought to the LIVE arcade

2. Shenmue 2 brought to LIVE via the Originals market

3. Shenmue 3 brought to the 360 in full HD glory

No, if Yakuza tops the charts, Sega will just think about ANOTHER Yakuza, which I don't care. The two games may share something about gameplay, but Shenmue is mostly about its atmosphere, magic.... sigh, I miss it so much.

I still have my Dreamcast , I only keep it so that every 6/9 months I can stick it on and play the original Shenmue, also have Shenmue II for the xbox . Would LOVE a Shenmue 3 XBOX 360.......... Someone has to note that so many fans want the series brought back and up to date that there is a good market out there to make some cash and a game that people might still be talking about 10 years from now like the first Shenmue

Alright folks, Arbor day is coming up quickly and those of you without an Arbor day feel free to pretend and join right along Big Smile [:D].

Friday, April 24th is Arbor day and it is time for a new campaign in the call for more Shenmue !!!

Let us get Cherry Blossom Trees to Sega and Microsoft Gift [G]

Now a mass planting is awesome but not everyone can do that so here is the game plan ... blossom petals mailed to them, pictures of the trees AND / OR the blossoms mailed to them, pics of you doing some planting action ( if you will be able to of course ), even pics of tattoos of cherry blossoms will serve this mission right. Remember, something is better than nothing and we want to fill Sega and MS to the brim with Cherry Blossom Lovin' on Arbor Day so how ever or what ever kind of format you can - make sure you get something out to Sega AND MS and in all snail mail cases for those doing a little more than emailing please remember to account for shipping times as for some reason we just haven't mastered teleportation yetWink [;)]

Good luck out there and you aren't alone, other groups and collections of people all across the globe will be doing variations of this too and together. Hopefully (along with the hope of getting our money) this unified message in the Call For More Shenmue will be one more successful notch in the war being waged on sub par gaming by the refusal to accept anything less than

1. Shenmue 1 brought to the LIVE arcade

2. Shenmue 2 brought to LIVE via the Originals market

3. Shenmue 3 brought to the 360 in full HD glory

Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
can't another studio, like Capcom, Bioware, Bungie, Konami, Microsoft, etc, help Sega out with this one?

Fallout 3 isn't originally a Bethesda game.  They called up the studio that made the original Fallout games, and asked if they can make the 3rd game in the series since (i think) the franchise was collecting dust.

Why not another development studio just port or publish Shenmue 3?

Sega has been known to do this in the past as well.  AM2 may have made Daytona USA, but Hasbro Interactive made the Dreamcast port.  AM2 created Virtua Fighter 3, but Genki ported that to the Dreamcast.  Why not have a third party company handle the development of Shenmue 3? of course with Am2's approval with the quality.

Happy Earth Day All  Cake [^] and only 4 days till Arbor Day so now is your chance to get any last minute mailings out.

Also, the idea of another company filling in much like Bethesda for Fallout 3 is a brilliant idea and personally I will be including with my normal monthly emails to Sega and MS a few other companies that I think could, would, and damn well just might do Shenmue the right kind of justice if neither MS or Sega will do what is right.

((now my list off the top of my head is fairly small and I would LOVE some good ideas for which dev teams out there /with examples of brilliance cited/ to add to mine /and possibly yours/ email lists. - Thanks in advance Smile [:)]))

Re: The Call for Shenmue volume2
The heck with Shenmue 1

Nevermind Shenmue 2

and forget about Shenmue 3.

Seriously folks.  we don't need to see a re-release of the original Dreamcast game in XBLA.  not to mention its a game that's too big to fit their cap on game sizes.  And Shenmue 2 on XBO is novel, but wouldn't have any real continuity from its previous game, like keeping all items, fight moves, and your experiences you spent a bazillion hours building up from the first game.  And finally the same goes with a disconnected Shenmue 3 from the first 2 games.

What we really need, is a game called 'SHENMUE'.  as in the way it was originally meant to be. A game that includes all 16 chapters as one game, including parts 1-3.  Keep everything as is (unless they care to beef up visuals for the next gen consoles and tweak some of the controls for these newer controllers), just port them all into one single game, where all the experiences, items collected, and the story itself is simply in one huge gaming experience.

The game's already made (yes, including part 3, aside from being english dubbed), just piece them together and release it.  As oppose to giving us 3 separate sources to play this one story.  XBLA for the first game? XBO for the second? and store bought for the third???  come on...that's seriously separating any new fans who dont care to chase after the individual games, especially if they never heard of it.  Give it to us as one game, one story, on one dvd bought for $60-$70 on store shelves.

I actually HALF Agree with you , and that half completely agrees with you. While I can not stop in my pursuit for the resurrection of Shenmue I just can't ignore any of the possible ways we can get the Shenmue we want and were your idea to pass and somehow come to fruition I would absolutely fine with thatBig Smile [:D]

Honestly I feel that the original goals listed so many time here and in Chapter One of the Shenmue thread (still bitter about its needless closing) are more likely of a means seeing as how it provides MORE revenue for WHOEVER in the DeveloperWorld picks up this awesome I.P.  and even though I want the resurrection of Shenmue done with only the proper love  and respect it deserves there is no getting around the language all companies speak "Profit"  and 3 potential products to sell means more for them over 1 product even if it is the super'est product to hit any shelves be it storefront or virtual.

In reference to an earlier idea of which companies us as fans think might do the job "the right way" let me add to the list -
1.Bethesda
2.TakeTwo
3.BioWare
4.Valve
((of course that is just IMHO and I would love to hear who you guys think might do a proper job if MS and/or Sega don't make the magick happen with Shenmue))

Part 3 was never made, certainly not to the standard of anything even remotely approaching a "finished game". One of the people involved in the Kikizo article where it said "Shenmue III has essentially been complete, but hasn't yet been ported to a console, as no deal has been made with hardware manufactuerers." later expressed regret that the piece was ever published.

Yeah Neil did do stuff for us in the earlier days of Kikizo, and though I don't specifically remember saying it to him, yeah I have said those words to plenty of people; I regret publishing that story to an extent because as stone-solid true and genuine as our source was - someone who was and still is on the production side at AM2 - quite well known but not publicly enough (in the west) for anyone on your forum to have ever guessed correctly - things changed rapidly during and afterwards of publishing the story, and most short-sighted people following the story blame us for inaccurate reporting. Our reporting was fair and the facts were true; Sega's consistency, communication to RHQs, and perhaps decisions, were not. SoA's flat out denial was hilarious to me. It's a big company and the fact that then-PR people in America had no idea of the status of something we had been following more intimately than they had, for ages, I have to say, came as no surprise.

Reporting on something that is such a distant (2-3 year) possibility from provable fruition, in the light that it MIGHT get an announcement more imminently than that, when we cannot name a source and offer no evidence, and offer just our word for it, was a bad idea. It harmed my/our reputation, Kikizo's name and the rest of it. We're only publishing exclusive news ever since then when a) it can be revealed as obviously true soon afterwards (many times this has happened for us - including Sega scoops); or b, we can quote and name our source, and then if it's ******* it's their fault for lying, not ours (Case in point, Ogawa denying Nights about a week before it was announced - Rest. Case.). It was a valuable lesson. I know plenty of things that falls into neither a) nor b) to be true right now about all kinds of game stories that would be big, and would simply not publish them for this reason. Companies change minds, companies lie, companies will say media is lying to make them look better, and so on.

As for Shenmue, I would have to say at this stage, it is worth forgetting about. If all the fans get any rich relatives together and channel it though Dojo perhaps we could buy rights, hire Suzuki (he'd likely say yes) and independently make the game under license from Sega at no risk to them. That is the only way it will get made at this stage I think. "

Sorry about this.
Adam

Shenmue 3 is likely never going to happen, especially now Suzuki has been put out to graze in the fields till he retires.

Apologies for not making to your thread on time as I try to help amplify whatever I can when it comes to getting Shenmue resurrected but have been so busy with the new baby that any extra time I have found tends to go to getting some play time in with the Box itself and not its forums. Sadly I have also heard the news about the Originals "cancellation" and feel that while it doesn't fit all let alone most customers it does -read did- serve a purpose for a lot them. Not to mention I genuinely felt it to be the best/most likely means of getting Shenmue 2 released digitally but I won't be letting down my guard on the Call for Shenmue (volume2) it just might be better served elsewhere in the forums for the future. Looks like "The Call for Shenmue volume 3" lies to the future and in case some starts it before I manage to consider it already signed and rated. In the end I still think us getting the light of day shined upon the Shenmue Universe a possible thing, "they" just need to feel properly compelled to grease our squeaky wheel or another "they" needs to be found to make and release a new Shenmue altogether. One more time while there is still an Originals sub forum breathing ... Bring us Shenmue 1 for the Arcade !!! Bring us Shenmue 2 for Originals (either the last one, or bullocks to the rules of the arcade and release 1 and 2 there!) !!! and Bring us Shenmue 3 (or a new incarnation altogether ala the idea listed above "the Shenmue Universe" !!!
