Re: All weapon locations

ive come to the conclusion that it cant be just using each type of firearm. i dont know what else to say. i KNOW i have done that, there are only 6 types, not hard to rememeber. i mean who hasnt most likely done that, guns kill, people use them. i have done this on more than 1 occasion and i still dont have the firearm freedom award. it has to be every gun in the game. anyone not get it even though they have used each type of firearm on an enemy? it even says on the achievement thing, "every available firearm".

I have the firearm achievement. Got it by accident; I certainly didn't use EVERY gun in the game, just every TYPE (and killed with every type I guess).

Finally got them all!!!! Big Smile [:D]

I had to go through level 7, cause I could not find the desk drawer on 3.  I am so glad to have every achievement for this game. Maybe now I can sleep at night!

Many, many thanks to Informer!

Re: All weapon locations

Glad to be of help, it's really encouraging to hear people thanking me for taking the time to go through the game and write up something like this since it didn't exist....

I just wish I didn't leave out the Handrail in chapter 8 on my original listing....maybe the mod can do it for me? I know other people use this list as a great reference and I don't see anything listed like this on other sites (other than ones that rip my list off, including the Handrail omission and stick being listed twice in chapter 10). Do you have to use all of these in each level?  Or can you, for example, use the fire axe in only one of the levels and have it count for the achievements.

One more word of advice for those trying to get the Fire-Arm Freedom achievement: just go through chapters 4 and 8. Chapter 4 has the Sawed-off Shotgun, Pump Shotgun, Revolver and .45 Cal. Chapter 8 has the .45 Cal, Rifle, and Submachine. That accounts for all the firearms in the game.

Happy shooting! Stick out tongue [:P]

Don't know if this is a stupid question, but can you just replay single chapters or do you have to start from the begining each time?

You can just replay single chapters.  The checkpoint save system can be kind of a pain if you are jumping around a lot from chapter to chapter, though.

What about the handrail on the subway car that you pull off in chapter 3 or 4 I think it was?

Re: All weapon locations

You don't have to use all the weapons on the list, I only listed some locations for most of the weapons (yes, they do appear in other chatpers than the ones I have listed like the small pipes and conduits everywhere).

If you've already played through a chapter, you can go back to that chapter and replay it if you missed a weapon and it will count towards the achievement. Just make sure you don't restart a chapter after completing it or you might run into that bird bug that others have been talking about on this forum.

The checkpoint save system can be quite annoying though so if you plan on saving, make sure that you reach a particular checkpoint. The last thing you want is to find that your game wasn't saved (which has happened to me). I like to run through a chapter in one sitting though.....just for closure to it.

Always glad to be helpful and answer what questions I can about the game....

Re: All weapon locations
For the melee weapons, in order to get the melee mayhem award, do I have to hit an enemy with each type, or can I just pick each type up and then switch back to the weapon I was carrying prior?.

Re: All weapon locations
you can just pick it up and swing it, I picked up a majority of the melee weapons and just swung them once or twice and switched to my preferred weapon. I also swung the firearms in melee mode.

Hi Informer, first off I'd like to thank you for the excellent list.

Second off I was hoping you could help me with finding the Old Axe, and the Sign Restroom.
I'm missing those two and the revolver and desk drawer, but those two should be easy to get, it's the old axe and restroom sign I have no clue where to find. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The only axe in the game is the fire axe and I believe there is just a generic sign (not specific ones like the restroom sign you speak of).  I already have my full 970 and am positive that this information is correct.  Happy hunting.

Right on, I'll try and grab the revolver and desk drawer in ch 3 and see if I get the awards then, the only reason I brought those up is they have them listed in IGN's guide, thanks fightingfire!

Hate to post twice in a row, but the edit time is up.

ANyway got the Firearm and melee weapon ahievements, all I needed was the revolver and desk drawer, which I got both of in chapter 3. Just so everyone knows apparently you have to beat the level to get the achievements, as I didn't get them until I beat the level, just a heads up to anyone without the achievements yet!

There have been some older threads about those weapons that don't exist and they all stem from IGN's game guide....don't trust everything you read (even though I tend to believe most things posted on IGN or gamespot).

I am right to assume that if you pick up say, a shovel on one chapter that you don't have to do it on another one.

Just missing 3 achievements...all melee weapons is one of them...and I'm the victim of the Golden Bird glitch so I'm starting chapter 1 now as I can't be sure where I fouled up with a restart. This'll be the 3rd and final time through!  Indifferent [:|]

Since i havent beaten the game yet, can anyone tell me how i can go about avoiding this golden bird glitch as to save time.  It would be great help.

Re: All weapon locations

After completing a chapter, DO NOT restart it if you missed a bird or metal piece from the level complete page. Just quit out and start the chapter again from the main menu.

Or course, the best way is to not miss anything the first time.... Big Smile [:D]

Hope this helps.

Re: All weapon locations

Yeah, it's really disappointing that games are being released with bugs in them these days. What happened to quality control and game testing? It's bad enough that console games are going down the same route as PC games where patching is a viable option with most people having online access but I guess "time to market" is more important than quality to the companies these days.

I'll probably go back to Call of Duty 2 at some point and replay those Veteran missions to get the last 350 points (mainly because the save bug is patched now). I just hope I don't hit the save patch in Dead or Alive 4. Fortunetly I have a gamefly membership so I can just play through the games easily (and I've played most of the games out already).

My obsession of being a completist really gets the better of me sometimes (although I'm not sure if I want to spend the time getting every single gap in Tony Hawk to get the last 100 points for that game). Smile [:)]
