well said, how good does it feel when you have supported a team through thick and thin and then they start doing well. not just support them because they are top of the table already

Too right mate. No matter where we end up at the end of this season it won't matter, we've made it and so far are giving it a bloody good go in the prem. If it's championship again for us next year then so be it!

2 Liverpool players were blocking the goalie's view which means they were interfering with play. It sounds harsh but i've played in a goal a few times and when you've got players behind your defence in an offside position it really does put you off and make it near impossible to make the save. And Chelsea had a goal disallowed in the Champions League second leg against Liverpool for the same reason.

I think the chav assumption comes from you inability to grasp the English language. But then I suppose all the school equipment gets robbed each week...

Only messing - I quite like threads like this. How many Man Utd fans do you actually know? What basis is your hate formed on? Jealousy?

Liverpool are our "arch enemy". Who gives a stuff - I work with 4 Liverpool fans - we watched the game together. Because we lost I had to buy the drinks. First time since Benetiz took over though Smile [:)]

Oh yeah, of those four Liverpool fans, 1 from Essex, 1 from Northampton, 1 from Surrey, 1 from Liverpool. Does that mean 75% of Liverpool fans are not from Liverpool?

As for Man U fans being bitter. What do we have to be bitter about?? I think it's probably the other way round.

Signed, but only in the case of the glory hunting muppets. That includes the ones who support them because they like their style of play, the top teams usually do play better football it's comes with being able to spend £50m plus on players every year. Football is about community and belonging, not living hundreds of miles away and pretending to be a die hard fan, support the clubs you actually have a connection to i.e your home town team.

The person that said only about a 1000 foreigners attend Old Trafford every week is an idiot, go out in Manchester after a game and listen to all the accents, everything from cockneys to japanese, yes i do class cockneys as foreigners.

Oh i live in Manchester and most of my mates are Man Ure fans, always good banter but even they hate the fans who just attach them selves to a succesful club.

Rubbish and flawed. Your logic leads one to believe that not even half of the club is connected with "the team." The TEAM is made up of Park (Korean), Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney wouldnt even classify as a Man UTD "fan" since he would be from Liverpool. The owners don't even classify as fans then since glazer is an american. C'mon grow up they don't call it the worlds sport for nothing.

At what point did i say the players or staff of the club??? They are employed to do a job for a company and being a supporter of that company is neither here or there. Rooney isn't a Man Ure fan he's an Everton fan, Ronaldo supports Sporting Lisbon, Van Der Sar supported Ajax etc etc. They didn't sign for the club because they are fans they signed because they had a vcery good chance of winning trophies and get paid thousands of £'s a week for it. I was talking about the fans, a point i thought was obvious considering the title of the thread. The owners are over seeing a business, whether they are fans are not had no influence in their decision to buy Man Ure.

I will try to simplify my point for you. Football clubs, including Man Ure, Barca or any club, were built on local support from the surrounding community. This has been diluted over the past 15-20 years as more and more glory hunting idiots ignore their local clubs to support the most succesful side at the time. This only makes the rich clubs richer and the other clubs hoping for a billionaire arab to come along just to compete. I can only presume you became a Man City fan last month.

Do you now understand?? Or should i wait a few years until you learn to read properly??

I never agree with disrespecting any minutes silence but Man Ure fans disrespected the minutes silence for Don Revie, chanted watch out for turks with knives less than a year after the incident with the victims wives and children in attendance as did Leicester fans and a few others. Every team has their idiot supporters, including Arsenal, the majority held the silence, despite the level of hatred felt towards Busby. So please don't generalise an entire clubs support by a few hundred who happened to boo that day.

I also see that you are the very kind of glory supporting fan i was talking about, bit of a trek to the Emirates from where you are isn't it?

I apologise for generalising the leeds fans, I know that not all the fans did it and I was a bit hasty. BUt I think you are a bit hasty in calling me a glory supporter. I've been with the club since I was 5 years old, and began supporting them in 95' after watching a match at Higbury, in a day out in North London. I shook hands with Bruce Rioch, the manager at the time, before kick-off. Was one of the days I'll never forget. It was on the 29th August as was an early birthday treat to watch Arsenal v Nottingham Forrest.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, every long distance fan has some story of their club being the first they saw play or some magical day out when they were a nipper. I liked Liverpool when i was 5 but Leeds is my home and as i grew up i supported Leeds because they are my home town team. I'm proud to be from Leeds and to be a Leeds fan, I was there when we won the league in 92 and i was there when we were relegated to League 1 and I'll be there till either I or Leeds Utd are gone. That's what i mean by a connection to the club, not just the odd day out once or twice a year to visit an area you don't know and a club you watch from afar.

I knew that you would say something like that but Arsenal was my introduction into football, they opened my eyes to the beautiful game and so I decided to follow them. It was my decision and I stick by it becuase of my love for the club. And I do actually go to the games. Not so much anymore as student life is quite hectic,  but I do go to watch them play the big four at the Emirates as the atmosphere there is electric. I was there ealirer tonight aswell to watch the youngsters thrash Sheffield.

I  will follow Arsenal till the day I die, through thick and thin. Even if we were relegated to conference South, whilever Arsenal F.C exists, they can count me as a fan. I pay monthly for Arsenal TV so that I never miss a game, which further proves that I'm not just some glory hunter that wants to be attached to the name and reputation. May I also remind you that we havent won a trophy for four years, so if I were a glory hunter would I not go for Man Utd?

At the end of that day it's my choice to support Arsenal, I cant even believe that I'm justifying it. Choice is all that counts, and nobody can take my right to choose away.

I support Chelsea because my Dad does and he supports Chelsea because my Grandad did. Its a good enough reason, i was taking to a match against Leicester, sat in the MHL and loved the club from that point. We do have plastics but every team does. Calling Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool fans and so on plastic is just pathetic and it normally comes from people who support not so good teams that are jelous. Every team has plastics but i know 90% of Chelsea fans are proper fans and same goes for other big clubs. If you sit at home and watch every game on the T.V you're still a fan just not a die hard fan. I love the club and i don't give a s**t about being called a glory hunter and stuff because i know i'm not. Say all this you have no history s**t, i don't care because i love the club and the players. At the end of the day if you watch the games and go to a few then you're a fan.

That's a connection and i have no problem with that, except that you're a dirty blue. When we were flying high we had our fair share of fair weather fans and i detested them because I knew if/when things declined, I never imagined it'd get as bad as it did, that they'd all just fade away. Sitting at home and watching the games is fine, not everyone can afford to go to games,  as long as you have some connection to the club, Baldy's account of how he became an Arsenal fan might be true but being a cynic I doubt it. Even if it is true it's still a fragile reason because at 5 years old i doubt he was truly supporting anyone and by the time he was able to fully grasp the concept Arsenal were winning the league, a bit convenient for me but as i said I am a cynic.

Completely agree with Chelsea Alex, especially about the fans who support not-so-good teams being jealous. I've never thought about it before now, but it is always a fan from a rubbisher team that calls me a glory supporter.

The rest of my family support Leeds, and I point-blank refuse to support a club just because I come from their city, or because my family want me to. It's my decision, and it's been a decision that I've stuck with for the past 13 years.

Arsenal were the first team I went to see and will be the last team I see.

Why dont you just STFU, its his choice and he doesnt have to justify himself to anyone. just because you support your home team does not give you the right to be so rightous about it and preach to everyone else. The bigger the club, the more supporters it attracts, its a fact of life. get over it.

The only suppoerters I dislike are the ones who switch teams.

So all your family support Leeds and yet you got taken to an Arsenal game as a treat??? Hmmm i'm not buying it, as i said by the time you were old enough to fully understand what supporting a club is about Arsenal were winning the league.

Thanks you Jonboy :D

And LUFC1919, I wasn't out in London with family, it was with friends of family. Or are you gonna come up with some other reason on why I'm a glory supporter? Just get over it, I'm a Gooner for life.

I have never once asked him to justify anything, he's taken that upon himself. I just stated that it was a bit of a trek from Leeds to the Emirates. I've just put across my reasons for not liking glory supporters, as i said earlier Baldy's story may well be completely true, but I've yet to come across a glory hunter who doesn't have a similar story.

Thanks for also pointing out the facts of life Jonboy, i really didn't realise that the likes of Man ure and Liverpool get thousands of fans while the likes of accrington only get a few hundred. I'll be sure to take more notice in future. Kids will always want to support the most successful side because no child likes to lose, as I said i was a Liverpool fan for my early years. However as I grew up I had no connection to Liverpool and followed Leeds mainly due to my dad. My issue isn't with the fact that one club has more supporters than another, it's the fact this trend of following one of the top four, along with other issues, is making the league uncompetitve.

Who Baldy supports is of little significance to me, i hope you are a gooner for life because there is really nothing worse than someone who switches allegiances but your loyalty hasn't really been tested over your short life has it? It's always easier to support a side competing year in year out. My reasons for calling you a glory supporter hasn't altered one bit since this started, you live hundred of miles away, started supporting them when they were succesful ( about 7 or 8 is when most kids grasp the concept of supporting a team ) and have a suspect story of how you became a fan.

True you never explicitly asked me to Justify it but I'm not just gonna let you call me a glory supporter and say nothing am I? I love my club and it's quite insulting from a person who doesnt know me to just make assumptions. And the whole 'Suspect Story' thing? WTF? WHo the *** are you to pass judgement on every single fan? I don't need your approval, but I don't need your criticism either.

maybe because if you suppport a better team and call you a glory hunter, the person who said it is probably a glory hunter.
