Re: July 2009 issue -- feedback and discussion
Enjoyed the Assassin Creed 2 preview - but would like to know if Jesper Kyd is going to be doing the soundtrack for it again.  He did a great job on the first one....
The Cliff Blezinski article was really good too - nice list of questions.

I do think it is a good idea, but I don't see this as a "game changer" as you guys stated in the latest issue. So I was just curious by why you said that or rather what you meant. How is it a game changer?

Well, I have been hoping for something like this since Live launched, but let's put my personal enthusiasm aside. You know how MS has been chasing that casual market, trying to get some reflected Wii love? 1 vs. 100 is it. We have seen people who previously showed absolutely no interest in the 360s in their own homes or at friends' houses absolutely thrilled by the simple concept of a social game that requires minimal reflexes and is easy to understand. This is that killer app that nobody else is poised to deliver -- Live is by far and away the most mature online gaming network out there, with more rich features than PS3 offers, and of course, Wii is playing by its own rules.

It's a game changer because it does something unique, does it extremely well, and with a very easy to understand setup (answer trivia questions, maybe win real prizes -- it IS a TV game show), it attracts people to 360 who have willfully ignored it up to this point. Think mainstream -- it is not a game changer for your average Gears player, but it gives Microsoft and 360 something very powerful in the mass market.

It's also -- wait for it -- the first successful MMO on 360. (FFXI counts as first but not as a success.)

Does that help qualify the statement? Because we're really seeing this first-hand among people that we didn't even try to convert.

Absolutely. Thank you so much for your response. I now see what you meant and I can agree with you 100% from that aspect of bringing in the casual market. In regards to Live, it certainly has changed the way I play. I was loading up BF2 and trying to remember how I can play with my friends. Then I remembered....oh yeah, you can't unless you all are looking for the same server or IP. Oh, and forget about party chat unless you use a 3rd party app like Skype, Xfire, TeamSpeak, etc. What a hassle. Ok, so I got off track there. I do see 1 vs. 100 as really bringing in the casual market, but I worry about the fact that you have to play at a set time. That makes me think it might be going in the wrong direction. But with a LIVE show, you don't have a choice. I look forward to seeing how this plays out and I can't help but to wish the best for Microsoft. I LOVE this console. I am addicted to it like I have never been to any other gaming hardware in the past. Thanks again for the reply. Maybe I will see you on 1 vs. 100 sometime.
