Re: Who else can't wait for FUEL
Hmm...they seem kinda harsh on reviews...I cant possibly see how the original Motorstorm did better than PR. Perhaps it wasnt too much of a leap gameplay wise...but why fix what isn't broken? And giving WaW a 6? I mean...it was no CoD4, but seriously...a 6? Nazi Zombies alone gets it AT LEAST a 7. Other than that, I would give both MGS4 and KZ2 a 9, and I'm happy with the rest.

And don't get me wrong Spectral...I don't care about numbers or other peoples opinions on things until I have actually played the game myself. Its just that I can only get one game next week, and I want to make sure its the best of the two...having played both demos of RFG and loving them, I think that will be my choice next week. Hopefully you and some others can post their opinions on FUEL when you pick it up.

Re: Who else can't wait for FUEL
I know what you mean and to be honest I think this game will be a disappointment for some people. I am reading through the forums of Codemasters, and reading the reviews and I see the most common complains that come up about the game. It will probably be an average game based on what the reviewers saying. Regardless I am excited for it because I have been looking forward to it for a long time.

With all honesty though I do not think it will be up to Motorstorm standards. That game is just so well done, and so awesome when it comes to physics and graphics that it just never gets old.

With that said if I were you and have only money for one game I would also go with Red Faction purely based on the fact that there were 2 demos and if you liked them both chances are you will like the game. Fuel is still kind of a hit or miss because there is no demo and it is hard to take the reviewers word for it whether the game is good or bad. Based on what I have seen so far in gameplay videos and after reading through those reviews and the forums I know what to expect and I will be buying it. Actually I am buying Fuel, Red Faction and TW10 next week.

Ahh my wallet is going to hate me next week.

Re: Who else can't wait for FUEL

I will absolutely give this game a go. Thanks for the vids Spectral. The gameplay looks chaotic having to avoid debris, diabled vehicles, farm machinery, etc. during tornadoes touching down. Tornadoes....Wow!!  Smile [:)]  I've always loved the rush of avoiding crashes on other race games, threading the needle and coming out of it unscathed. Seems like Fuel can deliver on this gameplay element. Unfortunately this title will not be a day one purchase for me. Dirt tracks and 4 wheels just don't grab my attention enough. Conversely, 2 wheels and dirt track racing games get the nod. I will certainly rent this game as soon as I can because it's from Codemasters who make great racing games imo. When rented maybe I can see if there's more game modes other than check-point racing for potential replay value. Hopefully online MP is as fun as Grid, then I will open my wallet.

Re: Who else can't wait for FUEL
Just a few things regarding multiplayer and tornadoes.

Multiplayer will feature 16 players online in the same game. There are all kinds of different online game modes. You can create your own races by placing the checkpoints on the map wherever you want. The entire map will be available for you and your friends to race in but the maximum race length will be 150km. Online free roaming is available where all your friends can just drive around in the entire map.
The day and night cycles will work in MP but there will be no weather effects at all in Mp games.

The tornadoes and such extreme weather effects are only available in single player career races and those races will be called that extreme weather challanges which you will unlock as you progress through the campaign. If you have seen in the videos the map is split up into different sections and each section has a certain amount of career races that needs to be completed in order to unlock another section of the map with its own races. Ones you complete every race in a section you will be awarded with an extreme weather challange which is a race where you will see tornadoes etc.

So far from the reviews most reviewer says that this game will really shine in the online MP department. With 16 players in the same game this game is going to be a blast.

Re: Who else can't wait for FUEL
Okay enough now Spectral lol...You're a great salesman and I'm totally sold on Fuel after your reply  Smile [:)]  So it appears there is a lot of variety to this title both in SP and MP game modes. The customization of races with friends within a free-roaming environment sounds quite delicious. I will research a few reviews this afternoon but really my mind is made up. I'm getting this title. I'm glad it's not you Spectral I'm opening up my wallet for. Man...you can sell chocolate bars to diabetics!!

It is not so bad. Some people love it some hate it so I would suggest to rent it first before you buy it. Just like the reviews of this game opinions scattered across the spectrum. I personally like it, but I am a racing game fan.

Re: Who else can't wait for FUEL
I do really like racing games, but I prefer games like test drive where I can just drive around an open world without having to do races... which is why I assumed I would like this... if only there were rental places around here..

I might pick it up but I have some major things coming up so probably not, in fact I might have to sell off most of what I have right now.. oh my

In that case you would probably love this game. It is a alot like TDU, with a lot of collectibles and about 100X the size of TDU.

This game is nothing like TDU. I'm a diehard racing fan and couldn't get myself to play this game for more than a few minutes at a time.

Codemasters only published Fuel. A developer that developed kids games and licensed stuff for the PS2 developed it. It's out now, by the way.

Yes this game was not developed by Codemasters. It is not a bad game kind of an average one. I wish they would have spent less time on the size of the environment and more time on the different race modes, online MP and the graphics. As far as game quality goes this game doesn't get very close to Dirt or Grid. It is still a fun game but it is not a must have game especially not with titles like Dirt2, Forza3 coming out later this year. A few months from now actually.

It all makes sense now then. Thanks for clearing that up. The game really isn't that great.

X-Play seemed to like it a lot. They gave it 4/5.

I'm just going to wait until it's $10-15.
