Re: Left 4 Dead 2 ??
I think he was referring to the MSRP that they currently have listed in their system, although I bet that'll go up ten dollars before its release. You only need to put $5 down at EB to pre-order games - that's true. You can move it to another game if you don't want the one you pre-ordered.

Really only 5 dollers at the eb games store here if you preorder any game you have to pay the full price of the game minus the taxes you pay that when you pick up the game. Our EB Games suck they trust no one emplyees included....

I don't understand what kind of trust is involved in preordering a game. Whether you put $5 or the full price if you've changed your mind about the game even after release day you can walk in and say you do not want the game and they have to give you back all your money without any deductions.

I personally found Left 4 Dead gimmicky and repetitive, which was disappointing since I'm a zombie fan.  I'll check out the sequel, but for obvious reasons won't be expecting anything to sway me.

Left 4 Dead is not for everyone that is for sure. I did enjoy the first one, and still do, and most likely will pick up #2. If you did not like the first game there is no surprise there you will not pick up the 2nd one. Kind of like how I did not like Bioshock 1 and will not be bothered with #2.

Even though BioShock 2 has multiplayer?

I loved BioShock and am really anticipating BioShock 2, but I'm also concerned that the game won't be able to live up to the success of the original.  BioShock was a game that was never meant to have a sequel, after all.

I also plan on picking BioShock 2 up on launch, though it'll be hard to surpass the feel of the original.  At this point though, it's still looking like one of the best games coming out this year.

Don't really care for that game to be honest with you. I picked up the first one again from Kijiji for $10 to see if I can maybe get back into it, but no. Just not for me.
That is what I meant by not every game is for everyone. I loved L4D and I do not think it is repetitive at all. For instance I did not have 2 games where the special infected attacked me at the same spot or 2 similar multiplayer games. It was always different. I wish it had more maps to play on but no big deal.
I'll be buying L4D2 for sure.

With L4d, Forza3, Dirt2, and many other games I am looking forward to this fall I just won't bother with Bioshock, maybe later when it drops in price I'll check it out in the slow months.

For my own gaming tastes and with the ridiculous price of Halo 3: ODST, looks like BioShock 2 is the only major game coming out between now and years-end that interests me.

I've also only bought Halo Wars this year thus far, so 2009 is shaping into a slow one for me.  Not that that's a bad thing.  Saves money and grants me the time to replay some great games.

That's all I've been talking about. I am not saying Bioshock is a bad game but for me it did not do a thing so why bother with the 2nd one right? Kind of the way you feel about L4D. If you did not enjoy the first one I don't think anyone would expect you to pick up the 2nd one.

Again I did not play Bioshock2 yet it might be a great game and will change my opinion about it, but as of right now there are just so many other games I am a lot more excited about Bioshock 2 is pretty down on the list of rentals at the moment.

Can't find myself buying Left 4 Dead 2. I think it's just quick cash grab and that it really isn't worth it. I'd rather wait for someone to use left 4 Dead SDK  and remake all of the Left 4 Dead 2 minus a cut scene voices ect. I was hoping Valve would have made an announcement for Half-Life 2 Ep 3. But I will have enough to to tie me over

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 ??
I think it's too early for another left 4 dead. Even though I love killing zombies and surviving the last stand every time the radio is called in. Ditching the ones that claim to be the leader. Trying to unlock Man vs Tank on expert.

Left 4 Dead 2 needs a much better name as well. C'mon. Since a lot and I mean a lot of people complained about new weapons and more Infections for the next DLC so I guess the DLC can't handle new ideas like that. So f*ck it. Let's just give them a new game. Thanks whiners. But... I read infor on Left 4 Dead 1 will still have DLCs on it's way. So not to worry... but I doubt we'll have people playing online afterwards when L4D2 is out.

I still don't understand the big uproar about the sequel of L4D coming out a year after the first one. I don't remeber seeing so much complains about sports games coming out every single year, or the COD series. I guess it is okay for COD to come out every year but not for L4D.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 ??
I think part of the problem is that L4D really wasn't a complete game  until the DLC was released. Therefore, it FEELS a little like a rip off because it will only be 8 months or so between games.

I more surprised that it's Valve pulling this move.  Very unlike them.

From what I can see, the game campaigns are more Scenerio driven, rather than to simulate being in "Zombie movie" like L4D is. L4D2 is actually given places in Cities like Savannah and New Orleans, which I figure they should have done in the original in my opinion.

Dude, I can say with 100% confidence that there is no chance for Left 4 Dead 2 to be as influential to the FPS genre as Doom.

Valve Software owes its very existence to Doom.

That can be said about pretty much every other FPS game that exist today. Doom, and Wolfenstein paved the road for the FPS genre. I do not think there will be another FPS as influential as those games were.

Half-Life (the original, not the tech-demo sequels) ranks up there to.  As does Duke Nukem 3D and Quake, come to think of it.

GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark and Halo: Combat Evolved on the console front.

i agree with the others but why do you include duke3d in that list? i would also include quake 3 arena due to its focus specifically on multiplayer, and deciding to not even have a campaign whatsoever. a brave move at the time, for sure.

Duke Nukem 3D was the first shooter ever to include such a high level of environmental interaction.  You could use light switches, push buttons, break chairs, glass, hydrants, toilets, etc., etc. ,etc.  In fact, most rooms in Duke Nukem 3D, which was released in 1996, have more possible interaction than shooters of today in 2009.

You guys are forgetting one major game that had a huge impact on the FPS genre of today. Heretic. Heretic was one of the first first-person games to feature inventory manipulation and the ability to look up and down. It also introduced multiple gib objects spawned when a character suffered a death by extreme force or heat.
