All my sons friends say he has a cool mum, this is because i play games regularly , host girls v boys international matches and run my own gaming forum. A lot of thier parents still make them come of their consoles after 30 minutes play.
My son keeps a healthy balance between gaming and actually going out socialising with friends .

We have 3 boys all into gaming , well that would be the way with gaming parents..lol but at least it's a hobby we all enjoy .

So where are the other "cool" parents

Ha NICE subject,

But are dad's aloud to post as well? LOL! Stick out tongue [:P]

I'm a gamer parent myself and our house is just packed with game consoles (obsessive collector)* anyhow my wife and I like to game she more in to the puzzle games but our six lovely kids are all-rounder’s. Yup at the school their tutors and the teachers come up to us and see you know how the other kids in the class think you so cool. LOL!
Next to gaming we let our kids do different kinds of sports. But before gaming it's homework time, after that it's GAME ON! I play a lots of system link at home with my son's and daughters usually it's Halo 3.

But it's nice to see that there are more parent in to gaming especially the ones that are actively involved with it.

Not a problem at all in fact that would be great, the more the merrier. We are moving along nicely now ..and stick to the no fanboys policy.

We are having a waw meet this tuesday if anyone want's in too.
The site and the game meets set up are all international as we have members from all over.

Your set up with gaming and kids sounds great , i love the fact our sons friends think we are cool..kinda helps his social status..lol

Feel free to sign up too free to all , all welcome.

I am a parent and have been one longer then you have been alive, LOL. This doesn't mean we regret being parents, anything you really enjoy doing you wish you could do more but because we DO love being parents we don't. Tis the sacrifice of being a parent to to make sure children see we are not being selfish.

Say whaaat? How did it get this deep? I never regret being a parent, that is not my intent of the statement.  I said this because my kids tease me about my gamer score and call me a 'n00b' of all things =].  If I ever get the time on the XBOX between our free time together, dinner time, work time (priorities) and play the Xbox that would be awesome.

PARENTS = Primary   GAMING =  Secondary.  That is, if I can beat my kids to the Xbox more often xD

Re: RE: Any cool gaming mums out there
I bought a 360 for my kids so they would stay off mine also. Our family practically revolves around gaming. The kids play basketball and soccer and go to martial arts, but as far activities where the whole family can play, gaming is tops.

My wife 3 kids(2 boys and a girl) all play in our free time. We have pretty much shunned t.v., except for Phineas and Ferb, and Wizards of Waverly Place for rock band, Sega Tennis, and wii.

To the child who posted when they become a parent they will drop gaming. I realize that it was to get under the skin of those posting here put I will respond. I feel that gaming is a great way to get they family involved. The whole family. We all do sports, but only one or two particapate at a time and the rest support them in the stands. When we game as a family, we have tournaments and play multiplayer and we can all participate.

Like most activities, they can be solo or can include the whole family. A friend of mine zones out for hours at a time playing WAW while his kids play by themselves. While sometimes late friday night I might do so, I always include the kids and wife as a group and we have a wonderful time. I am glad so this thread exists. There are a lot of caring parents out there who use gaming as tool to bond with their children.

For all those cool mums and dads, I do not consider myself cool, only blessed that my children and I can bond over a common denominator.

I think "regret" isn't what they meant. You know sometimes it's hard to find the actual word you're meaning. I think what they mean is that .. before you have children.. you can be care-free and have those gaming marathons.. into early hours of the morning.. and all they're saying is they miss that.

You know..

I stopped playing my PS1 after my son became more mobile thus pulling it off the shelf.. grabbing my controller etc. .. then I knew it was time to give it up .. oh gosh how I miss Breath of Fire IV Embarrassed [:$] My Ex .. was still into his gaming and played on a regular but not as often basis .. I bought him a PS2 and he bought me Singstar .. so I slowly got back into gaming .. Sims .. being a great time waster of mine .. in and out of the gaming world I was.. as life commitments were more important.

xbox 360 .. with the FPS games I have began playing have opened up a new world of gaming for me lol .. and I try to play every free moment I have! have a great bunch of people that I play with that make my gaming experience fun.

All they mean.. is that as life commitments with family are now more important.. they don't get to game as much as they used to and heck they really love playin... just think of it as a great hobby .. that you don't get to do as often as you used to. Regret has nothing to do with it.

OK well as a parent .. and adult .. you usually take the time to explain something.

Sorry if you don't want to waste your time.. but you will realise when you have children what they mean.

Hey Geargarious weren't you on my friend list before?... humm... I guess I would have to join your lousyatgaming.com so you can stay put on my list and I'm not gonna do that... too much internet paper work to join this and that site =)

Now to that kid that posted about leaving gaming all together when he's a parent.... If you leave gaming or anything that made you be yourself to have children your gonna regret it and be really grumpy. You shouldn't leave anything you like to be a parent whether gamer or any sort of activities that made you happy before having children. It's true you should limit what you do when you have kids but don't drop it all together cause when you do you'll get out of touch with yourself. Put your kids first and everything else comes second.=D

Re: RE: Any cool gaming mums out there
I love to play- i absolutely love to be absorbed into a game, unfourtumatly i hate first person shooters. Zombie this, WWII that, Halo Shmalo- i am one of the true blood Zelda fans. In my humble opinion the most fantastic game ever. Lots of puzzles, free roam, sword and magic play, leveling up ect.. i miss it so much because even though i cheated and tried the other systems (Final Fantasy) i have not found a game i liked nearly as much. It's like the brainy-acs forgot about the wonderful world of make-believe and only have killing on their mind. i have tried Prince of Persia, Star Ocean even Keflings but i haven't fallen in love yet. Does anyone have any ideas? i love WoW as well but i would rather play on my X-Box. Hey they should come up with a WoW X-Box live game! that would be so cool
