Seriously now: When I start up my computer, it's just to go on the internet.
Booting the computer takes a lot more energy than starting the 360 and heats a lot more (especially in summer)
With a 360-browser, I wouldn't have to boot my computer in the first place (saving time, energy and sweat)
Some people fear, the browser wouldn't have Flash. That's not true. The opera browser for Wii does have Flash. The only console browser without Flash (as far as I know) is the one for NDS (and DSi) because they don't have enough RAM to load Flash AND all of those videos requiring Flash.
If we had to reasonably compare the Pros and Cons concerning a browser for 360, the Pros would definitely win.
If one of the pros is that it should because you don't want to leave your pc on for browsing then it will never happen. Here's the main con, I bought a gaming console and any applications that aren't gaming relevant have no place there.I pay my money just like you all do and have no problem booting up my pc, there is no NEED for a browser on the 360, only a desire which will never be fulfilled.Browser supporters have been crying and whining for one for how long now?And most of the time the reasons for wanting one are redundant.Maybe if all the reasons weren't so blatantly selfish (ie:something that would benefit more people than yourself) this argument would go somewhere.
Selfish? I wouldn't exactly call them selfish because they want convenience. Look no matter what way we look at this we're still going to hit the same god damn wall. Convenience. And no matter what side of the argument you're on, the fact of the matter is you bought your xbox 360 for the pure purpose of convenience, so that you could stay inside and game instead of going out, or watching tv, or looking for something to do. It gave you the convenience of having a back up, rather then looking for one. So for those saying our reasons are selfish, stop being a hypocrite. As well as that, your entire reason on not wanting a browser is the exact same as ours except the reverse, you just don't want one because you feel the xbox 360 was built as a gaming console only. You feel we don't need one. Of course we don't, we've already crossed that bridge. Just as we don't need a video library, or an Inside Xbox, or the avatar features, or the messaging service, or the friends list. We just wanted all these things for convenience, so we could make friends, so we could watch videos, so we could contact friends. And as the Xbox community expands, so does it's capabilities and what it can achieve. Therefore, at this point, I feel it should have a browser, not because it doesn't need one, but for pure convenience just like everything else. And here's the reality, at the end of the day, you don't have to use the browser, if you're that much against it, in fact boycott it, lead a petition to stop them bringing it in. However the day your pc or laptop breaks down and all you want to do is just go on the internet to check your emails, wouldn't it be so much more CONVENIENT to be able to just turn on your xbox and just check them then get back into your gaming, rather then having to find another means to do it? As Old Stock rmm said, it's better to be looking at something then looking for something.
