Re: Gaming Communites for Parents

I am also a proud member of DoG, it really made XBL a joy again. It nice to know that the entire group are mature gamer dads just like me. I have a wife, 2 kids, a full time job and a mortgage so when I sit down to play in the precious spare time I have, I prefer it to be with other dads that are just there to have a great time.

We are really a big family and Ive grown to find some good friends on the DoG. Thanks Ethan for the post

A little over a year ago, I came really close to giving-up on Xbox Live.  I felt out of place and couldn't find a good time to save my life!  Thats when I stumbled across dadsofgaming.com.  I've made many friends, and gaming in general has reached a whole new level of fun!!

I'm a proud member of DoG and I wanted to thank you Ethan for mentioning dadsofgaming in your post.  I hate to think there's someone out there ready to "give-up" because they don't "fit-in".

Re: Gaming Communites for Parents

Proud Member of DoG here.  Been gaming since pong came out.  When I first got a 360 I thought cool when I found out about MP online then reality set in and I was super bummed.  I was like this sux because I have a job and work alot and cannot play RB6 24/7 or cheat to become an elite I was persecuted and when I stomped the **** outta somebody on madden I am told I am cheating or whatever just because I could play or even let it slip what my age was some little kid telling me I shouldnt be playing video games.  This was getting old fast.  Then came DoG.  I want to tell you Ethan how much we appriciate the publicity.  I have seen DoG grow in the year it has been around and am here to tell you I consider every member my friend, obviously some whom I game with regularly are closer than others but, I would be really hard pressed to mention any of them that I dont like.  So If you are a smartass, dont mind a bit of clowning around, could care less about political correctness and just basically want to have a good time without the hassel stop by www.dadsofgaming.com  and visit the DoG's.

ps leave the attitude at home because one thing the pack doesnt like is infighting.  Do it and you WILL be shown the door.  I think we have only had 2 or 3 instances in a year but this shows that our admins are hard at work keeping gaming safe for adults(rofl if you really want to call us that).

and we have tons of scheduled DNO's(dogs night out) for forza, nascar, ffow, cod4, ect almost everynight something is scheduled and many ongoing tournements and stuff.

thank you

Thanks, jigsaw.  I just reached out to them, so hopefully I'll have something I can put up for them soon in the original post.

I'd love to hear more from the "uncommitted" gamers.  I hope you are finding this useful.

Re: Gaming Communites for Parents

Just wanted to thank you for mentioning DaddyPlace.com this has been a valuable resource for me as a new parent but also an excellent place for me to meet other gamers who share my interests. I too bought an xbox 360 in the early days and was totally bummed about all the senseless trash talk, obscenities and such on there that I actually cancelled my gold membership because I didn't realize that not all gamers were like that and assumed that was the norm. Then I joined Daddyplace.com and found some great Dads to play with.

I am not a hardcore gamer but I am an avid gamer. My gamerscore is a little less than 3000 but I do enjoy a good game of Halo3 COD4 or pretty much anything. Feel free to add me as a friend if your interested in a fun friendly game or if you just need someone to draw the enemies fire.. LOL!

All in all thanks for the great publicity about DaddyPlace.com  I will deffinately have to check out the other sites too. I love meeting new people and everyone sounds real friendly. See ya on Live!

I too am a proud member of the DoG pound since August of 07. A great group of guys who just like to play games (except hr who doesn't play games) when they have the time with like minded people. I made the switch from playstation to Xbox back in January of 07 and really had a hard time finding a good group of people to game with until I heard about dadsofgaming.com through the XBL forums. And since then my friends list will not hold enough great people to game with. A big thanks to Ethan for spreading the word about these adult gaming sites. And a special thanks to Kermit and the other admins at DoG who have been providing us members such a great place to find good peps to game with, keep up the good work.

Re: Gaming Communites for Parents

As a member of DoG for almost a year (we just hit our one year mark) I can only re-hash what kermit and some others have said.  These kinds of sites only fuel our love for gaming even more.  Its great knowing that RB6V2 is coming out on the 19th and I wont be one of the people joining random rooms and getting kicked by the host cuz he is losing or cuz he has to do his homework and close the room.  DO NOT take this the wrong way, I personally have nothing against the kids and teens that play games...it's just that my life and theirs do not share the same principles or priorities.  I know who I am gaming with almost all the time and it makes the chat and the gameplay (as well as horseplay) more enjoyable.

So a big thank you goes out to all those that have contributed to those sites and this thread.  Game On!

I will be a DoG forever!!!!!!!!!!

I am a member of DoG and cant say enough great things about the community. No stress gaming...just fun.

Me and xFilter used to belong to a PC gaming clan called 30Plus. All members were over the age of 30. Wow, now I feel old...that was a few years back. One of the reasons I like DoG is because of the "this is not a clan" feel of the group. As Kevin knows...."clans" can get a little un-nerving.

Cheers bro...I know your on my FL...we have never played an xbox game together but I cant bring myself to deleate ya.

Well put Keith,i too am a member of D.O.G,i can honestly say i've never gamed with a better group of guys then the ones on DoG.It's all about fun with competition thrown in,forget about all the organized tournaments, contests and giveaways our site has(thats just the cherry on top) what makes DoG work is everybody on there is there for the same reasons as what everyone here has posted.

We're pretty close knit and have a blast day in and day out playing online together. Our DNO's (DoG's night out) make for some of the most memorable nights in gaming you'll ever have....trust me..lol

I think one of the original points of this thread was to avoid their being turf wars and "my site is bigger than your site" boasts and bring us all together, so I will spare you any rhetoric as to why the site I am on make more sense for you.  I don't know you, but I do know that you cannot go wrong with any of the sites at the beginning of the post.  I would say from my POV there is no reason you cannot join all that pique your interest and test the waters and see what fits. My guess is that none of the other sites would care either.

I for one hope this is step one to all of us getting together and maybe setting up some major events down the road.  We all seem to share the same core beliefs, the differences are very small when compared to our similarities.  I am glad you found the thread, I would say that your problem is a very good one to have as opposed to what else can be out there is Live. Too many good, like-minded gamers to play with, who would've ever thought? Feel free to contact me about any details on why I game where I do.

Member of DoG here.    They will have to kick me out before I leave the best gaming site around.   I dont have kids yet but I'm a gamer thats been playing games for 28 years now.   I enjoy playing with people that have lives, pay bills, own their basement not live in moms, dont sing play us songs over the mic, and dont think that racist and raptor jesus remarks are funny.   You dont have to have kids or be married to be a member of  Dads of gaming you just have to not be a Timmie.

PS. Not only do we have DoG coffee mugs we even have DoG thongs for the wives.

It was about 8 months ago I was at the point where I would not play on XBL, I get really tired of listening to kids screaming obscenities, racial comments and just plain noise into the headset (Heck I didn't even buy a headset until I joined).  I am a proud member of DoG...I can say it has never let me down.  Which ever group you pick, it will enhance you gaming experience at least threefold.  Thank you ethan for the post and Kermit for the write up.

Woof Woof Woof
proud DoG here
much like the others i was very excited to venture into the world of online gaming having been a gamer for my my whole life. I am 37 and was thouroughly surprised and let down by the general population of xbox live... i was here to game not school yard harangueing so in quiet desperation i began a search to create a Friends list that was compatable with my gaming style which is laidback and fun oriented not skill based or out of game trashtalk... so i found dadsofgaming.com and was lucky enogh to be one of First few members. now i couldn't imagine not being on LIVE, Tribes Clubs Clans call um what you will, but if you are a frustrated LIVE gamer, find a home group it is worth it 1000x worth it

I don't think there is any harm in signing up for all of them.  No membership dues, so where's the harm.  I think all of our sites have restricted forums, and that's where you get to know the community.  Sign up, try out the forums, and see where you line up personality wise.  That should do it.  Yes [Y]

Micheal what was your tag with 30+? Me and Filter were having a discussion awhile back and didnt realize that we used to play Ghost Recon alot together back on Fort Chaos with the =SealZ= and =FC=, at the time I was {JAG}Joey791

Joey...I was the Team Leader of the Ghost Recon team that 30Plus ran. Kevin was my right hand man. I played that game for just over 3 years srtaight...what a great game. I also think I remember your name. My gamer tag at the time was WickedWeasel, I had to use an abbreviated name with the clan tags...[30+]WW

One thing that ruined gaming their for me was mixing politics/patriotism with gaming and the internet. I felt bad for some of the chaos I was apart of, and I learned a lesson from it. I stay far away from any of those disscusions and I am proud to say that over at DoG...we dont dont allow it.
