Smokes should just provide smoke. I remember in Gears 1, I would throw smokes at my feet all the time to keep people from sniping, torque bowing me, or getting a lucky boomshot on me. Smokes are not meant to be used the way they are in this game. If people want to stun eachother, they should have added stun grenades. What a no-brainer...but what can we expect from Epic?
Exactly!
yep, you got it, welll ya... exactly!
I remember thinking this to myself one day while playing...
I personally think the update was a success, but I agree with this. I don't see why they need to have everyone spawn with a stun grenade that also acts as a smoke (and I say it that way because the smoke has become more of a secondary effect). They would have been better off just making
stun grenades that spawn on the maps. That way, there wouldn't be as much smoke so it would be easier to see the target that you wanted to stun anyway. A lot of times when I plant a smoke behind me so I'll know when someone is coming, I won't know if it actually stunned the person because I can't see him either way.
I actually like the whole cringing thing better than getting knocked to the ground, though. Back before they changed them, I would often get knocked down on a set of stairs and have to wait an extra 10 seconds while my character had a seizure all the way down. And actually, if you think about it, they probably changed it due to all the glitching involved with using a smoke on yourself (ex. using it to get through Security lasers, going into the little furnace thing in River, etc.).
