Re: Account Management/Credit card/Phishing FAQ

Just recieved an email saying this.

We are contacting you because we have been unable to charge your credit card for your Xbox Live Prepaid 3 Month Gold Membership Card service(s) being billed to you through Microsoft Online Services. The following credit card is the current payment method on your billing account:

Ok. I redeemed the 3 months as I went to GAME bought it for £14.99 on the day the 'Auto Renewal' was to be activated but I did not have enough money in my account to renew it by card, so why the hell is it saying it charge me for 3 month gold membership when I bought that in the shop???!?!?!?!

Can anybody help this as the email further states a ban saying.

To avoid an interruption of your services or to reactivate suspended service(s), please provide a valid credit card and a current expiration date.

I really dont understand what Microsoft is doing to me. Some reason its added 4 months so it renewed when there was not enough money. So if they are patient enough they will get there £4.99!!!!!!!!!

ill be honest with ya. i have no idea what NSTC means. but if it does help you out, i have been in japan for 9 months and have only had this problem since i updated my credit card about a month and a half ago. so its pretty much the same console i had in the states.

Sorry, that was towards master, but I've never heard of your issue. :( Did you go through the buy direct through the dash or did you buy a prepaid card in store?

My best guess, at the moment, would be that you purchased Microsoft Points(market place currency) instead of a membership extension...

Re: Account Management/Credit card/Phishing FAQ
i think what happened was that i forgot that your membership renews automatically if you have your credit card details on from last time and so i bought another membership instore and used that aswell which worked but it was soon after that i got a £40 bill from the credit card for live, then i realised what had happened so i rang the xbox support and got them to give me the money for one of them back and put my live back on track....which has only worked for half a year? Guess i'll just ring them again, cheers anyway.

Re: Account Management/Credit card/Phishing FAQ

Ive just noticed this billing system is really really bad!
So the other week I said how about I didnt have enough money in my account to Renew a Month of XBL...
Well ive just had a cheque go in and will take a day or two for it to process.
So I thought I'd try and get some microsoft points seem how they are still requesting for the money for the 1 Month of XBL, and it deneyed me from getting these points, which is funny on how it can still attempt to charge me for this *** months membership.

Excellent, FAQ! Hope you'll have time to update it with the new PayPal options. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working though... Hope Xbox.com fixes the issue soon. I have things to buy and play but I can't since I refuse to pay via credit card. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to the update. THANkS.

3. How to turn off automatic renewal of your Live subscription

When you buy Xbox Live Gold with a credit card, automatically added is an automatic renewal function which pays for your Xbox Live Gold subscription when it runs out via credit card/payment option.

To cancel your automatic renewal, you need to contact Xbox Support in your region and have them remove it for you.

Just to update, you no longer need to contact support for these options.
You can now login on www.xbox.com
When you have logged in, select "My Account" from the drop-down box next to your gamertag
Select "Membership Level" from the menu on the left
Where it says "You currently have Month-to-Month" you will see "Automatic renewal : ON"
Click "ON"
You will now be given the option to change Automatic Renewal to OFF

Remember to save your changes.

thanks for your time if i find any more i will do my est to keep posting them here or if there could be a thread started regarding this issue
While I appreciate it and understand your heart was in the right place, still posting the names of the sites is a bad idea.

My claim of fraudulent charges was denied by xbox support. Is there anything I can do at this point to recoup the lost funds (and overdraft fees I was charged)??

I think that this needs to be read, and understood, ready, here we go....

NOTE: If you try to cancel a credit card which is currently being used as a payment option, it will not let you remove it. First you will have to cancel the subscription the payment option is paying for. Refer to part 2.

ALSO: The credit card cannot be removed if the automatic renewal option is activated. Refer to part 3.

Those points are often misunderstood

Which makes absolutely no sense "being used as a payment option".  Once the charge has been made for a subscription for a year, the credit card details should no longer be needed or maintained.  I want to remove my credit card details and convert to using subscription cards purchased locally, but Microsoft doesn't make that very easy to do.

I have a question. I recently changed my debit card due to damage and my bank sent me a new card but I wasn't able to change my credit card information considering the fact that my xbox has been broke for over a month now. Will Microsoft cancel my account or my gold membership once I get online with a new console although as of now it still states my account has gold membership?

Go Here

then click on Manage Payment Options

and finally from there you can remove, or add a credit card/ paypal account.

I am NOT happy about this.  The goods are paid for and the money has left my account, MS have no right to retain my card details for a moment longer than I want.  You agree?

I'll give MS a week or so to change this, and if I still can't remove my card I'll write to TheRegister.co.uk.  They absolutely LOVE this kind of thing and will follow it up for us all.

In the meantime, I've edited my card detail so that any further payments will fail if they try to remove any money from my account.

Unhappy...

Ok so I used my gold 3 month code onto the website, but then I learned that I would have to restart all of my games for it to be on that gamertag, is there a way I can cancel the 3 months and have the code be able to be redeemed agian?
