I saw it this morning by two people in core headquaters.  I only had time to file tampering complaint against one of them.  What some people don't understand is that doing this kind of thing is usually a "gateway" and leads  some to do worse, either way it is still hacking.  Oh well, I suppose if enough complaints are filed that some things might get done. All we can do really is just keep filing complaints everytime we see one.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you.  I have reported and filed sooo many complaints on names that are rainbowed, flashing, moving side to side etc... and it seems nothing is done.  I quit playing computer games because of hacks and now it seems to be starting to dominate the 360 as well.

I found out from someone on Live in the lobby of World at War. This is how you can get your Gamer Tag to do those things:

Connect a second controller to your console. On the second controller hit the guide button, create a profile. Enter jd 2020. Done. On the next screen select an

avatar and select done. Sign out. Then sign back in on the same profile.
On your first controller hit your guide button.  Sign your first profile out. Then sign back in.

Go into barracks, select clan tag, type in rain.

On the second controller, sign out and disconnect it.

You can use other words for other effects.

move-will make your gt slide from side to side.
cycl-will cycle the rainbow of colors.
rain-will flash each letter a different color.
....-will make a 'o' move from side to side in your clan tag.

Now, in the process, nothing was hacked. It was all done by the steps outlined above. The only thing I see that plays an important role in it is the jd 2020. Only MS and Treyarch know for sure if it indeed is a software hack that allows this. And if so, why hasn't a patch been made for it yet?

But it is until conformed otherwise just a glitch like any other in the game. As far as the Gamer Tags that were reported and nothing done about it, maybe there is no violation being made. As I said before, no hack is done on the users part to get it, no software is being manipulated on the users part. Atleast not from what I see.

We'll just have to wait and see.

How can it not be?

This is quite clearly a feature they never meant to let out into the general community, not a hack. 

People using it to make their gamertag change colors and move around are hurting nobody.  They should be figuring out their leak on the inside who let the cat out of the bag.  The folks using it to scam others should be banned.

We were like what its one of those hackers.

So we ended the game and kicked him. His name was flashing and moving.

This was almost the same way level 65s were getting into BOOT CAMP playlists a year ago.... Cod4 had a simular problem with the game and Microsoft's console's dashboard sign in/sign off profile problem..

Its half Cod's fault... half dashboard problem...

The reason this happens is because Microsoft nor Activision want you to re-boot everytime you log in or off a new profile...

... let me explain...  in 2006 Gears of War was released and Sales of Xbox 360s skyrocketed... especially on XMAS day... over a million new Xbox users on Xmas day tried to connect (me included) and Xbox live CRASHED..

problem was that GoW1 had a problem where if you could not connect to live in the game it would boot your profile off... so in essence you could not play the game (with your profile... but you could just make a non-save game and play)..

2007 Xmas wasn't much better.. the Xbox live service crashed yet again... and everyone was given a crappy Arcade game free for their pain..

Anyways I've noticed some games have problems with log ins and log outs of cetain profiles and multiple controllers and such.. and the whole NXE just added an extra layer of security holes to exploit this glitch..

Its not just related to this game... although I think Activision should force a game re-load (not a console re-boot) whenever you change profiles..

It's obviously not ok, otherwise why would this post be here? To get it to work you have to use his gamertag.

It doesn't harm anyone, but it's still nefarious. Unless they give the go ahead and change it so everyone can do it, or patch it, I'm going to consider it tampering.

Well I have a flashing name but... Im not running around posing as jd 2020 or changing my name to different buttons on the control.

wow people are being dumb about this. Flashing names isnt hurting anyone playing. If it doesnt effect you then why report them. until someone says that you arent suppose to use them, then I see it as fine ( I am not using it) but if it was that big of a deal, they would have mad a patch for it already. Save reporting people for in game glitchers/cheaters.

Read the whole thread, there are two separate issues here. People are actively hacking their profile and changing their in game name along with the clan tag colors etc. Those are the people need to be banned. The others, like yourself are simply instituting the two controller/JD 2020 Sign in glitch.

whether its a hack, mod or glitch isn't the problem.  You are modifying the game in a way the developers did not intend.  For all the "how do you knoe they didn't intend it?" people.  Why would JD post a warning describing it as a hack?  Its a violation of the TOS.  Is it hurting anyone, no its just annoying.  Unfortunately a violation of the TOS, even if its not hurting anyone, is grounds for suspension or ban.  Thats the rules they enforce by.
