I agree. Consolidating all the Requests and Chatter is an excellent idea. Should be done for all Topics that concern the majority of the Community, IMO.

Then no one would have any individuality on the forums. Yes for the avatars no for everything else.

What I mean is there are a number of issues that concern a great many Users. The concerns should be granted their own specific Forum, based on User approval or Thread page count, to aid Microsoft and Moderators in analyzing any or all options. Things such an Avatar Forum should have been implemented long ago.

That'd be a million bandwidth. It's easier to make a broad spectrum that emcompasses many issues. An avatar tab would be an exception because it's already a broad topic.

thanks for contributing everybody. i really think an avatar forum will appear one day just like forums are made for new games.. i wonder which area the forum will be located: community forums? general discussion? xbox live discussions? maybe i should let them surprise me.

i think the search and my forums features accomplish that already without creating any extra sorting html. i still think avatars need their own forums tho: theres so many different places on these forums were avatar conversations can happen it makes sense to bring them together all in one place similar to how each new game has its own game-specific forum..

After reading my own Posts I kinda came off as a Flake, LOL. Yeah the Search function does work, however no one uses it. I was simply implying that they Flag a word or two and simply redirect you.....but I think the 'Community' would be the most appropriate Forum Index, to me your Avatar represents your Online Persona.

youre doin find Signal, you had a decent idea but its possible to do that already w/ available features. i dont think anyone uses the search feature because lets face it, most ppl are lazy. it doesnt help that the forum search feature is absolutely terrible tho. i do my best to use it but it has no advanced sorting features and the advanced search only limits searches to specific forums.. unless im missing something

Well, honestly, I just think most people don't like finding topics that aren't created by them personally. Especially when they are upset at something or frustrated with a game. They want to be personalized and be met with haste, not shoveled in with the rest of the masses. Like I said, the avatar forum idea is a good one, everything else is fine how it is.

I think this a great idea. I also think the avatar items in marketplace are priced higher than many are willing to pay for. (myself included). I dont mind paying for the created material, but the pricing is ridiculous in my opinion. (Especially in this economy!). I would rather save my points for download content for games, where I would at least get some use out of what I purchased. I just hope that future games let you unlock avatar articles through achievements, because I know Im not purchasing anything at the current price point. (sigh) Right now I feel like Im preaching to the choir because Im sure MS could care less about what I have to say, especially when it comes to money. :(

while i do think microsoft is listening at some level, i dont think the prices will change too much from their current position. im not defending the pricing structure, despite my opinion that its not too expensive, i simply dont think its going to happen.

i think a lot of these growing pains couldve been avoided if the avatar awards/unlockables had rolled out along side the avatar marketplace. microsoft really dropped the ball by announcing awards and teasing us with a tab in the editor but not having any content ready when xblam rolled out.

id expect to see awards begin to fill the gap soon and hopefully there will be enough interesting content to satiate the need for free items. its a shame there doesnt seem to be much effort going into retrofitting existing titles with awards but, if the awards were tied to new dlc for those titles, there would be a financial incentive to do.

as xblAM fills out a bit i also expect to see a larger selection of 40-80 pt items and an substantial number of free items tied to promotions and advertising. i personally would really like to see 1 or 2 new animations tied to each item: animations associated with props are already somewhat popular when taking avatar gamerpics and i think that bonus could be leveraged to help balance the implied value of each item..

sorry for the long read but this thread has developed into a rather intelligent and mature conversation (that im very proud of i might add, thank you to everyone thats posted here) and i figured i could squeeze all this into one post without boring too many ppl unconcious.

I think the creation of an Avatar Forum is a great idea, Red!
No doubt, the highest bumped topic would be "Suggestions for Avatar items".

Most of us enjoy customizing our Avatars to varying degrees and look forward to updates.
I try to make my Avatar resemble me as best as I can so others will recognize it as me.
It has been standing at ~80% for months now for lacking the following items and styles:

***FACIAL PIERCINGS***
Microsoft can give me an infinite supply of clothes, hair styles, props, etc., but without adding this simple little option, my Avatar will never look completely like me. Give us eyebrow rings, lip rings, nose rings! How hard is it to place a shiny silver dot on the chin for a labret, or on the tongue when the Avatar opens his/her mouth during that silly expression? Multiple loops, gauged ear lobes, and/or the industrial can fall into this category as well.

**MORE HAIR STYLES AND COLOR CHOICES**
Let's face it, we all want this. The current selection is pretty good, but some variants and tweaks are required. Examples of this include but are not limited to: 1. NO hair on the sides of the head with the mohawk style (because it looks silly with hair, right?), 2. Psychobilly Wedge (the Pompadour is way too big, and the Fauxhawk is too small and pointy), 3. Devilock to go with the skull makeup (any Misfits fans out there?), 4. More vibrant and exotic colors (blue, purple, pink, green, etc.), and 5. An option to edit the length of the hair without altering the style (shorter hair in back, or longer spikes, anyone?).

*MORE CHOICES FOR FACE/BODY SIZE/SHAPE*
We all do not fall within an "average" range. It's nice to see an Avatar that is not "too fat", "too skinny", "too tall", or "too short". However, if we're comfortable with our bodies, then we should have the option to customize our Avatar in that way as well. Make them taller. Make them heavier. They're supposed to look very much like us, not somewhat like us (unless you're lucky enough to have an "average" body, I suppose).

Anyone agree/disagree? :)

sorry to edit your post so much, just not a big fan of massive repeating quote blocks.. hittin the bullet points im definitely right in step with your requests for more customization options, the more the merrier i guess. the are a few places i hink microsoft could increase flexibility and not double their workload..

more piercings would be an interesting addition: theres suppposed to be a nose ring with one of the earring sets on xblAM but i cant see it, i dont think its there at all cept in the title..

any additions to the hair styles and colors, even if they are for sale, would b fabulous additions. i dont really need a lot more options there but itd be happy to see it for sure..

adjusting the ody types is important but i doubt we'll see any changes there for a long time. ive found that adjusting height helps change body types as much as sliding the weight up and down. expressing my preferences have hanged as my avatar has taken on somethin of a life of her own recently..

for example, my avatar has grown to the max height and 1 click down from middle weight over the last few months from the average height and severly underweight munchkin she started as when avatars launched months and months ago.. any new options i get to further distinguish her from oter avatars will be an instant fav of mine for a long time..

speaking of things i was lookin forward to: 10/22 was supposed to be for Gamerchix on xblAM.. i finally found a preview of the items but theyre still MIA from the avatar marketplace.. [preview link]

Gamerchix items dropped later on thursday, really late by xblAM standards. new items usually hit the store early early in the AM that day, seeing stuff show up late in the PM isnt inspiring. i probably wont stay up thursday nights too often if this becomes a regular thing.

(another bump, probably the last one) anyway, i woke up today and BAM! imma silver member again.. i feel dirty all over, like my xbox knows ive been spendin money on avatar clothes and not XBL subscriptions. good thing ive got a few trial cards left and netflix works just fine on 48hr trials, otherwise i dunno what id do..

edit: OMG!! everyone can see it!!! ahhh!!! must upgrade! must upgrade today!!

IMHO it makes no sense to quote entire paragraphs every single time ... like most ppl do.

Members of the 360 avatar development team can chime in and create voting categories for which items are most popular to find out what we're most willing to spend our MSPs on. I think that sort of interaction is key to understanding what gamers truly want, and to better enhance our 360 experience.

hadnt really considered how a consolidated dashboard avatar forum could help devs and gamers connect. ive only really thought about how an avatar forum would save me time scouring the boards for avatar threads and help me link up w/ other ppl that enjoy avatars as well. any potential facetime w/ the dev team is a huge plus and i love the idea that avatar devs could get even more feedback about the program quickly.

Avatar Arcade - looks like the arcade might be part of a larger space avatars can roam around, kinda like psnHome but hopefully much better. i would expect universal game launching, party chat support, probably store fronts for the avatar marketplace, XBL, maybe the Zune marketplace as well.

i dont think the arcade is confirmed tho and everthing else is pur speculation at this point.
