Well Patton could of ended the war before the Battle of the Bulge but Montgomery tried to have the biggest airborne operation in History and was a failure on the British side but by some miracle the American Airborne pulled off a victory for themselves.
Patton is not a douchebag! Remeber he saved Bastogne, saved the African campaign, and in Sicily showed how the American Army is a force to be reckon with.
Market Garden was a disaster, no doubt about that, Eisenhower simply wanted to give Monty his chance to shine and at was a colossal failure.
Well, Patton was an egomaniac and wanted the battlefield glory all for himself; he wasn't a team player.
And Patton the notion that Patton rescued the guys in Bastogne is a total fallacy; the Airborne troopers, with the aid of the weather which finally broke allowing supplies to be dropped, rescued themselves.
Did you ever hear the quote from the trooper in the 101st Airborne when asked by a combat journalist "how does it feel to be rescued by Patton?" he responded justly, "who ever f-ing said we needed to be rescued?"
Yes I have heard that quote it is in the Band of Brothers series.
How the Airborne survived for as long as it did is a god given miracle they were surrounded by a German Army not to disrespect the Airborne, but the Germans probed the 101st defensive perimeter around Bastogne the Germans should of attacked from all sides at once. But instead the German Army probed which was a big mistake.
Patton was an egomaniac no doubt he wanted all the glory Patton had a better plan than Monty and had Eisenhower stood by Patton's plan the war would of saved alot of lives that were lost in the bulge and would of ended earlier.
The Airborne deserve credit for everything they did in that war but without Patton turning to attack the German line around Bastogne the Airborne would of fell sooner or later.
