I know these analogies are in a different context than a game, but they still apply. Just because everyone started as an equal doesn't mean everyone will stay equal. Those who have worked to be the best deserve first dibs, while those are still working to be the best will have to work even harder to top the current heli pilots.

This is how it works in real life. I see no reason why it can't apply to a video game.

Well in an earlier post, someone posted a real life analogy and you stated that this was just a video game. So in your mind, those situations truely have nothing to do with it. So pick your side, cause your a little double sided right now. Either it's just a video game, and real life matters not, or its a video game and real life does matter?

Also, I payed the $60 for the game, so I am going to experience what I want to experience, whether I am good at it or not. There is no "video game constitution" stating I have the right to fly or not. When you buy the game for me, then I will allow you to dictate whether I can drive that tank, or fly that chopper. Crazy world your living in if you think you have the "right" to tell me how to play a game I bought.
Where did I say it's just a game? Not saying I didn't, I just can't remember when :P

What I'm trying to get at with the analogies is that people who are better with the heli should be the ones who get it. I suck with the arty, so I let the people who are good at it use it. It's not fair for the team as a whole to have a crappy pilot hogging the heli while someone who is actually good with it can't use it. I'm not trying to say that ONLY good pilots should fly, everyone should be able to fly the heli, but the better pilots should get first dibs.

For my military analogy, I know that not EVERY commander starts as a private. In general, you start at a low rank with little power and work your way up to a higher rank with more power.

The place to learn to fly is in the unranked servers.  Very low stress on everyone involved. They tend to get boring quickly.  Once you get some proficiency, head to the ranked servers for a real challenge.  Check out You Tube for some excellent tutorials as well.

If you do get the chopper and are having a good run, ask your gunner if he'd like to fly.  Some will actually do pretty well, but most decline.  At least ask so as not to be a complete selfish idiot.  If you both do well and share back and forth, you'll have a friend request waiting and a comrade for future games.  Huge win!

If you TK for the heli, and hog it the whole round, you're garbage.  You'll get reported for unsportsmanlike conduct and avoided in XBL.  Don't be that guy...

Cheers!

I'll work harder to "top the current heli pilots" by TK you in the back while you race to your *** helicopter, hop in, then get shot down a few minutes later!  And every time I do it I get better! HAHAHAHA!

Re: People who cant fly
I think regardless of ability, people should grow up on both sides, and do more productive things when they don't get the helicopter. Anyway, how good of a pilot a person is typically a judgement of their own until they start getting more and more kills. I consider myself an average pilot, I can stay in the air a fair amount of time, and get a few kills but I don't see how I should get priority over anyone or anyone over me. Plain and simple its a matter of who spawns closest and knows how to sprint as you know so  I don't really see how your analogies apply unless everyone suddenly thought about the team rather than just themselves and went "You know, I really suck at flying I think that guy should get to do it because he says hes better at it than everyone". Isn't the point of this game and all games to have fun after all?

Battlefield has always been made of two general types of players, those who think about the team, and the lone-wolves. Guess which is in more supply?

because there is no private matches in this game there is no other way to learn
the controls in SP are different that MP so your just going to have to suck it up and shoot down the enemy helicopter and give him/her a chance to learn

Unless they trained for a certain possition in the armed forces, What does an average employee have to do with flying a helicopter on a video game.

I can simpathy with that, However you will never be able to tell if someone is better than you until they crash it. It is impossible to tell who is better or worse than you so you have to let it go ragardless if you happy about letting it go or grudgingly.

This is how it works in real life. I see no reason why it can't apply to a video game.

but it is just a video game though there is no comparison to this game and real life or real life warfare, This game is not a simulation.

Likewise if your good do you have to right to take away someone's go at the heli, For example RPG them before they have taken off. Do you condone this behavour?
If the heli is not being used then I will take full advantage and anyone who does not should not complain.

I think battlefield bad company should of had two helicopters, I think they have realised there mistake because they put two planes in 1943.

I personally won't TK someone who has beaten me to the heli unless I have either had problems with him in the past or he has already proven that he sucks in the heli. Generally, if I want someone else's heli, I'll send them a message politely asking for it. I'll give them time to respond, but they continue to fly around doing nothing for the team, I will probably TK them, depending on how bad I want the heli.

I know I suck with the arty, so I rarely use it. The only Tim e do use it is on Harvest Day after I run back to kill an enemy that was on it. If someone TK's me off of it, I won't be mad because I got TKed, I'll be mad because I ran all that way for nothing. It's not the the principle of being TKed off the arty that bothers me, it's the inconvenience.

I somehow doubt that, I am just glad that the days of battlefield team killing could be almost gone, As 1943 does not have team killing and hopefully battlefield bad company 2 will probily also be without.

What is there to doubt? I don't find it particularly fun to use things a I suck with, so I have no reason to be mad if someone TKs me off of the artillery. If anything, he just saved me a bunch of time running back to the fight where I can be effective.

Re: People who cant fly
Also, I don't see how a small project like BF1943(console) could be any indication that DICE is going to remove a feature that has been in every BF game except BF1943(console). You do realize that BF1943(console) was a small, low budget game that started out as a "just-for-fun" project for the developers between major releases? TKing was most likely removed because of time restraints, so DICE didn't have time to properly balance out friendly damage. I don't see BF1943(console) as anything more than a quick money maker. The only thing it presented about future BF games was improved graphics, better squad play and team communication, and improved destruction. Really, all it did was show off Frostbite 1.5.

I am aware it was a low budget game, However as I pointed out before it appears they have learned from there mistakes including putting two planes perside in the game instead of one helicopter.

1943 works so much better without team killing and i am confidence that the new one will be without.

What mistake did they make? I'm 99.999% sure that BF1943 would have had 2 planes per team regardless of what happens in BFBC. I see where you're making the connections, but I really doubt TKing in BFBC had any effect on TKing or the number of vehicles in BF1943.

Ok, I forgot about this but I had to share it.

A while back I was playing Uno with a buddy & his wife.   After much aggravating from myself and his wife, I decided to make him an Achievement.

It is quite funny for him (for obvious reasons), but kinda fits here for all of us when we finally get the hang of the heli and not crash.

Are you ready for it?

Re: People who cant fly
What mistake did they make?

I think the mistakes they put in battlefield bad company was:

Only one helicopter in the game, They have appeared to of countered this by adding two aircrafts instead of one, and actaully aircraft on both sides. I think two aircrafts is a good idea because there is more of a chance to recieve aircrafts so there is no reason to team kill someone who gets an aircraft before you.
Adding more than one anti aircraft weapon per bases and generally more on the maps, to balance it out.
Taking away team killing as people like yourself exploit it.
TKing in BFBC had any effect on TKing or the number of vehicles in BF1943

Well can you explain why they removed team killing, and please consider removing team killing would not of cost them a single penny, and I am aware it is a low budget game.

I forgot to mention that that the aircrafts are not just on the carrier they are also in the airbases on the map as well, So you are never far from a plane if you want one of course. More people have a chance to be good at flying instead of fighting for a go which happens on bad company, I think that totally sucks and you suck if you beg to differ.

BF1943 is 100% conquest, of course they are going to add even numbers of vehicles. They put in two planes because a pilot with no wingmate is a sitting duck.
