A 3rd person perspective. That will be the buy or no buy for me.

^ Just my humble opinion, but I hope it stays first-person.  To me, viewing the jumps through Faith's eyes just makes the gameplay that much more intense.

Oh, I think they should keep the first person view too. I just want the option for third. Keeping the first person for the players that originally supported and loved the game is just good business sense, but drawing in others who want a different perspective wouldn't hurt either. They could definitely broaden their user base by including this option.

Re: So now that Mirror's Edge 2 is confirmed...
I saw a video in third person mode for the first Mirror's Edge (Maybe it was a developer mode).

Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3VnWYt9flM

I personally feel first person is way better, and feels more real.  If Dice does use third person mode for Mirror's Edge, it would deffinetly need to be cleaned and made to run smoother (Check out the video for example.)

Please Dice...keep it first person! Yes [Y]

Hmm...no arguments here.  As long as it's just an option and doesn't take away from the gameplay, I'm good.

That was a hack done on the PC version if I recall. I absolutely agree they should keep the first. I just want the option for third because I prefer that view.

I liked the length of the levels, I thought it was very good. I just wish there were a lot more of them.

That and a much stronger storyline are my only wishes. Mirror's Edge had kind of a weak storyline, you already suspect who your main antagonist is going to be only a couple chapters in, and it doesn't take long to confirm it. I don't know if writers think they are doing people a favour by throwing you a bone like that but it really killed any emotion or surprise over the reveal.

That 3rd person vid looked terrible. Personally, I think the game being first person is what makes it what it is. Otherwise it's just Assassin's Creed with less fights. I think making it 3rd person or even having the option would take away from the game in a major way. Just my opinion, though.

I think DICE will keep it 1st person, considering that their game engine "Frostbite" is 1st person only.

that 3rd person hack is terrible.  They just need to make things better, don't mess with the game that much.  No complex fighting moves.  maybe more interaction with objects

Organic levels, think of a white forest(White plants, white trees) with orange, blue and yellow colored flowers. And all free roam would be cool. More people in the city, less cops together but have them more scatterd and spread out so there not just all in one area.Costumizable character for multiplayer.

It needs to get rid of the whole e-surance type of cutscenes.

Other than that basically whatever has been posted more than once.

definitely multiplayer racing would be a nice addition. Maybe a some more story involving the other runners would be cool.

Re: So now that Mirror's Edge 2 is confirmed...
Defiantly a longer story/more levels. Reading some of the ideas has made me really want multiplayer. I thought it'd be a bad idea but after reading those ideas I think it could defiantly work. A level editor would be cool as well, wouldn't have to be too complicated either.

I don't know about character customization, it doesn't seem to fit for Single Player but maybe multiplayer. It would be a little annoying for everyone to be exactly the same, and even then they could just give you alternate models as opposed to full on customization.

What they should change is the reaction time, so that when you jump, run, and roll the buttons should respond quickly. Playing those time trials made me want to smash my controller, sometimes.

Re: So now that Mirror's Edge 2 is confirmed...
expand on the story for sure, you can tell they cut a lot out of it.

I don't think a completely open world would be right for this game, but I can definitely see having less linear level design.

Other than that I would just like to see more replayability to the campaign, the deeper story would contribute to this but I also would like more weapons, more collectables, more easter eggs, more gameplay mechanics, and just a more immersive campaign. They probably wouldn't add it for a sequal, but I think that a RPG element would fit this game perfectly. I.E. being able to evolve your skills such as agility, combat, precision, armor, speed, and balance.

Multiplayer would be nice, but not needed.

Hmm, but I liked the elevators.....they gave you the five signs to tell if your a Runner. (Now we need the five signs to tell if your a Chaser)

Of course, I want the usually stuff that most people want; more story, more levels, longer levels, ect.  I want multiplayer, but I'd rather hear from the creator's what they plan for multiplayer before getting hyped for it.  Like they did with BioShock 2.

Oh, and before you bite my head off, I like the song......but less "Still Alive" variations......
No, Luke. I killed Mufasa!

They should just remove the shooting aspects entirely-make the focus of the game running and hand to hand combat only, but ditch the "wait for the gun to flash red before you can grab" mechanic. Every single instance when you're forced to fight in Mirror's Edge brought the enjoyment of the game to a grinding misery inducing halt. The point of the game was to prove your sister's innocence....by shooting cops? That sucked. Make the hand to hand combat like it appears in the loading screens, where you don't even bother with the weapons...

An engine isn't necessarily first-person only, is it?  Battlefield : Bad Company uses the same or similar engine and has vehicles and all sorts of things going on.

Well, this game was not made with the Frostbite engine. It was made with the Unreal Engine 3.

I'd like to see the sequel use the Frostbite engine, in which it most likely will.

Ah, cool.  That is a dynamic engine and can and has been used for first-person games, so my point stands.  Huzzah!  lol

Not entirely. DICE used the Beast Engine for the lighting.

Just thought of one more thing that I think would help, though others might disagree...I know that my first time playing through this, I did have difficulty finding the correct route to the objective.  In addition to having more complex level design that would allow for multiple routes to your objective, I would suggest a road map or something similar in Faith's inventory that would provide one approximate route to your objective (that could be said Faith mapped out prior to leaving for the job) that you could reference to get to your objective quicker...or if you are more of an explorer, just ignore and go off on your own to find your way. ??  In my head it sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea.  Thoughts?  I haven't read through every post, so hopefully this isn't redundant.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I certainly wouldn't use it but a lot of people I know gave up on the game claiming that it was "simply too much trial and error."  It'd be useful to people like them who don't want to go through a level 2 or 3 times before they understand the routes and wouldn't affect those like me who would never use it.
