My own tips (i've ended world tour already):

* Always try and maintain some boost with you. Tap it going into (right before you leave the ground), and coming off a jump (the second you land).

* If you can build up enough boost for a special move you can use all of that boost while still being able to do the special when you hit the big jumps.

* Don't always jump.  On a lot of jumps you can boost off the edge without jumping and hit the downslope which not only gives you more speed coming away from the jump, but also reduces the time spent in the air.

* Boost around corners (once you've locked in your turn though...dont just boost)

* Boost for like 2 seconds if you bail..gets u back to top speed.

* Better yet don't bail.  Your competitors will fall, but you don't have to.  Don't be greedy on the tricks, and only stick with the quicker 'a' and 'b' tricks until you know which jumps give you enough air to nail the bigger ones.

* learn the maps for any race event u having issues with.

* PUSH! got a atv near you, clip him like a cop car. Try and make him crash into a rock or tree and such.  Don't forget to use them as an outside wall going around corners too.  They also make good brakes Wink [;)]

Good tips, I've added on.

Re: Incredibly hard.
I tried a couple things last night, and (for me, anyway) it made a huge difference in what type of engine I chose...namely, 2-stroke vs. 4-stroke. I find that Race events I do much better with the higher top speed of a 4-stroke, and Sprint events I fare better with the high acceleration (but lower top speed) of the 2-stroke engines, since they're smaller tracks with tighter turns that you need to accelerate out of quickly.

I had been using 2-strokes in a lot of Race events, mainly because I like to have lighter, quicker bikes. Making this change really made a difference...it's surprising how much a couple of points in the stats meters translates to, performance-wise, in the game.

We have a winner. I spent seriously, at least an hour on one track, found out I was using a 2-stroke, switched to 4-stroke and won the race on my first try.

Everyone use this guy's advice.

Good way to beat some of those races in earlier tournaments is to go on to the next couple ones and win some new parts then go back and put a lower class engine in and do it again if you are having problems with them.

Exactly I do all the freestyle events in a stage because they are the easiest to win for new parts then I do the sprint and races.

By the third or fourth stage I have to retry numerous times just to get 2nd on an event. I got 1st on all the events on the first stage, but now I'm having trouble passing them at all.

Anyone else not expecting it to be this difficult?

(Game is fantastic btw, I'm not complaining, just surprised)

im with you bro...after days of struggling to get 2nd and 3rd in events i finally unlocked the last stage...i cant place over 9th in any events on the 10th stage

Re: Incredibly hard.
last stage is the easiest stage other then maybe the first 2, it has no hard sprinting races, normal racing is easy, just take the shortcut, and of course freestyle is like impossible to lose at, only annoying part of this game is a few ridiculously hard sprint races, I suck at racers and am only decent at this game

Re: Incredibly hard.
I thought the game was somewhat easy. If your having trouble winning races i would suggest trying to make a different quad. I find a quad with acceleration at 100 is best.

Are you building bikes for each type of race and upgrading accessories when you get new ones?  I have a bike for each type of event I race.

It is challenging, but fun challenging not stupid challenging (I am looking at you Star Wars The Force Unleashed).  I have completed the first two tours and have only had to redo one race.

Also you should be able to do the free ride and try and find the short cuts on the different tracks.

I have to take this back, the game is not just stupid challenging, it's f***ing stupid challenging.  I can easily beat the sprint and freestyle but at the 7th tour I can't beat the regular races.  No matter what bike build I use, or lines I race, the highest I can get it 4th and I'm about 20 seconds behind.  I have practiced the tracks, and one race I played for about 3 hours.  The game starts doing lots of lame cheats like I crash for no apparant reason or hit the edge of something even though I am feet away from it.  Will give a try tommorrow but if I can't beat it then it's going back.  There's challenging, then there's f***ing stupid.

Yeah, I'm there too, noticing a lot of cheapness suddenly. Ridiculous things. Worst thing I've seen yet is in freestyle, a couple times now I've looked at my score and it'll be, say, 32000. I'll do a few more tricks, and suddenly it's down to like 14000. Very strange and cheap.

Also getting stuck in crash cams for a very long time sucks.
Quiet you imbecile, I can't believe the rubbish come out with when people find things difficult. The game isn't taking away points from you under your nose, quit whimmpering.
Valve - Disappointing.
