Re: Dragon Age: Origins Discussion
Just bought this game today but am having problems with the DLC.

My 360 isn't connected to the net but I was told I could download the content to my PC and transfer it to my 360. However when asked to redeem my code they ask for a 25-digit number however the numbers for both free DLC included in the box are only 16-digits. Is there something else I need to be aware of?

You can't download it on the PC and transfer it to the 360. What you've likely read is that the codes are crossplatform, which means a code from the 360 can be used to download the DLC for the PC version of the game (or even the PS3.)

As mentioned above, you don't redeem the codes through the normal means but through an in-game menu, which is why they can be used on any version of the game.

Well thanks for clearing that up for me. The codes don't expire till 30th April 2010 so hopefully I'll be able to get my 360 online before then (even if briefly) and get the content.

Thanks for the help.

One of your characters has cast a Song of Valor on you. Go to her and turn it off.

I am loving this game. I just finished lighting the beacon and all the stuff which happens after. It feels like LOTR, in a good way. One thing though, before I go much further I want to finish the stone prisoner so I can have shale in my party. My issue is that I'm now in that little village north of the Witche's hut and that pass place where the stone prisoner starts is miles to the west and I can't fast travel there. Do I have to treck all the way over there or what?

You just pull up your map and select to go there and travel will begin.

You might encounter the odd random battle though on the journey, so be sure to save before going as dying on one of them is highly annoying.

At least that's a good effect; I was just having a chat with someone and three quarters of my party were on fire, it didn't seem to be bothering them... at least not until the cutscene ended at which point they suddenly decided to be in pain and start casting healing spells and such.

When you look at the map, the DLC quest locations will be marked with a golden place marker.

In regard to the sparkly characters, if you don't want it you have to go to Leliana and turn off her Sustained Talent of 'Song of Valor.'

Doing so though will lose you the effect is has of stamina and mana regeneration.

Oh and a red glow is that you have the Sustained Talent of 'Threaten' turned on.

I honestly leave them turned on because as soon as you hit combat, they'll turn them all on again automatically unless you change their tactics.

It is one of the more highly rated games on both systems at the moment, if anything we get fewer problems than our PC counterparts.

I do not think you will have many problems with this game.

Well happily the Stone Prisoner DLC has worked without a problem, the achievement I got from it has been counted properly.

Now just have to do the Warden's Keep on my next play through to get them again.

I finished the stone prisoner earlier today. I thought it was ok, but I would have been very annoyed if I had payed 1200 points for me. I have a couple of questions regarding armour and weapons.

1) I killed a Drake and got some scales which I took to demerim (sp?) but the smith at Wade's emporium said I needed more, how many do I need to collect until I can get some armour?

2.) What is the best light or medium armour in the game? I am a Dalish Elf Rogue and it seems that the blood dragon armour is better suited for a strong warrior.  Will I get any good armour through side quests or anything? If so, can anyone recommend what to look out for? Same goes with weapons.

This is definitely GOTY so far. Pure class.

I take it the stone prisoner DLC is a bit short then ?
I dont mind paying for it, if its a lenghty quest, but I am not interested in DLC for trinkets.

I'm fairly certain you need three drake scales to make the armour. It's quite nice; I'm a Dalish Elf Rouge as well and I'm wearing it at the moment. The smith says it isn't very good though so when I take him some more he should make me some even better armour.

EDIT: Oh and pay him to take his time if you can afford it, it doesn't take too long and I assume the armour is better that way.

Cool, thanks. I am about 8 hours in and I am still wearing my Dalish armour. Do you know the best place to find Drakes, or will they appear randomly?

Also, am I right in thinking that there is no armour given for completing the stone prisoner apart from that helmet at the end?

Any ruins seem to be the best places to find them from what I've played. There are loads in the caves near the village of Haven. Not sure where else I've found them, possibly in the ruins in the forest. Sometimes they pop up in the random travelling encounters too.

I am finding Alistair to be the biggest waste of time in the game.

You can give him the best weapons and armour going but unless you give him potions nearly every turn he is pretty much guaranteed to die.

The guy is just a potion drain.
