I love my car but it probably betrays my impending middle age.....

I have an 05 mercedes E320 diesel. However i went a bit mad and specced up over 15k of extras at the dealer- such as voice activated cd/sat nav/radio.telephone etc, vibrating, air conditioned massage seats which inflate to hold you in on corners you take too fast, cd changer which pops out of the dash at the press of a button and also my personal but utterly pointless remote control closing boot!!! Yes it is utterley pointless but it is great fun popping the boot and chucking your shopping in the back, sitting in the car and then closing the boot just as someone seems about to tell you you are driving off with your boot closed!!! Yes I am sad, yes I have no life and yes I have more money than sense - but what the heck it is great fun!!!

I was not bragging anout how much money I have... the quote was in the context that I must have more money than sense to spend £400 on an utterly pointless extra such as a remote closing boot which serves no real practical purpose at all.

As to the question of lying, why would I choose an E-class diesel as a car to lie about!!!!!!! If I was lying I would say that I have a E55 AMG or a S or SL 65AMG - not a bog standard 3.2 diesel. Unfortunately its the straight 6 diesel engine - I got it last year before I knew they were bringing out the V6 diesel which is more powerful and yet more fuel efficient.

Sorry I just don't get your point - where did I ever mention the cost of the car????? all  i mentioned were the £15,000 worth of EXTRAS (i.e. the items you purchase on TOP of the list price of the car.) The basic price of the car was approx £36,000 and the extras on top of that. As we have a relative in the dealership we got a discount of around £6,000. Ps. in case you didn't know, cars are considerably cheaper in the US than over here in good old Blighty.
