i remember playing sf1 at the arcades - if you've not played it, you haven't missed much.

It was one of the only arcade cabinets that had pressure sensitive pads that you had to punch.  soft punch for soft hits and hard punch for hard hits.  I think it would be a shame to have missed that to be honest.

I think the original version was like that, but after people started abusing the buttons and hurting their hands, they changed the machine.  I remember seeing SF1 machines with the standard 6-button layout.

the large dedicated cabinets had the pressure pads...the smaller dedicated cabinet had 6 buttons..most of the sf1 machines you find now are the smaller cabs or non dedicated jamma cabs...probably because all the larger pressure pad cabs are knackered.

  • What version of Street Fighter II is on the arcade?

Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting. The 3rd installment of SFII, originally released in 1992, it is widely considered by fans to be the ultimate version of SFII. the XBLA version will be based on the sega genesis/megadrive version.

Wait a minute!!! Are THEY SERIOUS?? We aren't getting the "Arcade Version"? Instead we are getting a very limited watered down GENESIS Version??? PLEASE tell me this is incorrect information! What the *** are they thinking giving us not even an original Arcade version but some lame 16bit version that doesn't equal anywhere near the greatness of the original Arcade?? This might actually have to make me question getting this game.

I also find this really hard to believe since there actually was no Genesis version of Hyper Fighting. The only Street Fighter II game released on the Genesis was Champion Edition. So what gives here? Someone is lying or incorrect...  Gah...Angry [:@]

Great info , now i know NOT to download it,  I still have my genesis and the game so whats the point,,, bad choice on Microsofts point , but does not really surprise me the SUITS usually dont know what the people really want.....

Re: Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting FAQ

the game will look and play pixel perfect to the original arcade game, the multiplayer dashboard will be like the genesis version...they need some kind of dashboard for multiplayer coz the arcade game is 2 player!.

why couldnt they have used the super street fighter II the grandmaster challange set up? (the 8 player arcade game based on super sfII turbo) genesis example was probably less coding and work.

  • When will SFII:HF be released?

No definite date as of yet, but one of the development team recently said on Major nelsons pod cast that it should be less than "months".

Another note on this: Capcom has stated that it will have a release date, and will not just appear on the marketplace.

  • Who is the strongest character?

Although Ryu and Ken are fan favourites there is no one character that could be considered the the strongest, it depends on your fighting style, and skill level.

If the wonder twins dragon punch is still Invincible then they are the strongest characters. That is very strong in just the hands of an above average player.

Naturaly there are some characters that don't have a chance against a skilled player playing one of the top teir characters.

Also if Balrog has his sidestep fireball move he is an assasin of doom.Expert players will dominate with him(the move is that powerful/influential)

Re: Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting FAQ
actually believe it or not the man behind the original streer fighter 2 mentioned something that may make the issue of whos better ken or ryu ? finally die. when making the classic he mentioned the fact that he began to toy with ken and ryu putting in stonger hits when countering. Now both ryu and ken only where given this programme as both characters were the same programme but with diff colours/apperence obviously. As the deadline for the game was nearing he had only time to take the programme off 1 character and that was ryu. This would make ken the BETTER of the two with his additional capabilities. I myself am a ryu fan and some of u may find it hard to believe. However when i read the article by the creator himself i was shocked.those of you finding it hard to believe....I will later post the issue and the page number of the EDGE magazine i had read so you can see for yourself

the graphics WILL look poor on your HDTV...the game was designed to run on very low res arcade monitors!....as i said above, the best graphics will be on the standard crt televicion...not HD.

Do you not think they are going to retouch up the graphics so that they are as clean and crisp as a whistle?  MS is not going to push a highly anticipated Live title on to their HD centric machine without taking care of the details.  Did you think they were going to put some 320x200 low res action out?  Just relax and wait...  You can play Lumines when it comes out before Street Fighter.  Just a guess from the specificity of the release dates on their pages.  Lumines lists July 06, while Steet Fighter still Summer 06.

They WILL NOT "touch up" anything graphic wise. No time and no space for enhanced graphics. It does not matter that their machine is HD centric, look at Galaga on HD. No enhancements for that one and it looks like crap on an LCD/Plasma.

Well what i think they have done is just made it to HD standard so it doesnt look awful on high resolutions, but effectively it will look the same as the original. - if the original was just upscaled it would look bad because of the sprites (i think). So they have had to work on the graphics but not in the same way as the other coin ups on xbla.

Who cares if it is all touched up or not? All I care is that it is up to arcade standards and plays well. The graphics are the least of my concerns with this game, and I have a 50" SXRD. /Charge Down,Up w/ Fierce and Roundhouse and walks away

< 50Mb, since that's the limit on all XBLA games.  (They're supposed to all fit on a memory unit.)

This is 100% false can someone please edit this and correct it. The code is based on the Street Fighter Collection PSX version of Hyper Fighting (Which is close to the arcade port apart from a few gameplay quirks) not the MegaDrive or SNES version.

SFII TWW on the snes was squezed in to 2mb, i bet the 360 version is at least 10 times that.

LOL your probably right, You would think with modern compression techniques they would be able to fit even the 360 version in to 2mb and save everyone some HDD space.

I didn't know there were replays. Sweet. Do we get to save good matches to the HDD or do we get to view them after the match. . . how does that work?

Re: Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting FAQ
Great post, thanks F1Senna. I think I will hold out for a Super Street Fighter II version though. Cammy and Fei Wong were two of my favorite characters. Also Ken and Ryu's upgraded moves were nice. Wish the 360 controller had 6 buttons on its face for games like this though (6 buttons of the same size and laid out so that they were all in line with each other and evenly spaced unlike on the Duke).
