meekamax is shortened from Meeka Just A Max my beloved 10yr Blue Heeler (his full kennel name).  He was on his way to becoming a Champion in the ring but blueys being a short tempered animal he took a dislike in the ring to an English judge (judge touched a sore spot) and needless to say that was the end of his career. Started as email addy but grew to be used in every day life, even number plate is meeka. So even when he goes he'll still be with me...*sob*...
How's my gaming?

Xzolder is a name you may have heard from Xbox Live, but its time for me to tell you about it.

Well it all starts off that this name popped up in my head, randomly did of course. People may think it came from some robot character eg. Megaman, Transformers oh and my number 1 favourite "Power Rangers" Love that programme. Im sure it doesnt come from any of those programmes. Well to me it sounds like a Villian or maybe a super Hero, but ill give you the opportunity to believe in what ever the name would make you think/ imagine >>>>>>> "Xzolder".

John Dory is a nickname i've picked up in the last few years. A mate of mine was in a fish and chip shop looking at one of those posters that has all the pictures of fish on it and he decided i looked like a John Dory fish. So since then i've been John Dory. Or Dory for short. Its become more of a verb than a name lately though. I have a reputation for spewing after drinking too much, so now if anyone spews they "do a Dory".

And the 13 is a birthday/favourite number thing.

Re: Gamer Tags

Wish I had a cool story like many of the preceding...  Sadly, I was rushing to get online with the 360 for the first time, and after trying a couple of options (which were already taken - natch) I turned to my eldest (5y.o. boy) and said "Quick what's a name?" and he threw me "Sporticus" (who's the superhero in a fairly lame kids show aimed at 4-year olds)... and I thought "What the heck, I can always change it later..." and whacked in Sporticus - with an NZ on the end to allow for any 4-year olds elsewhere who'd already booked that name.

At the time, of course, I was unaware that Mr Gates wants NZ$16 for the privilege of changing your gamertag.  So I'm stuck - 40 years old - with a lame name from a kids TV show.  Embarrassed [:$]

Although one person did think it was TXTSPK for "Sporty Cousins", which sounds like the title of a bad skin-flick.  Maybe I should have gone for that.

Your Gamer Tag and YOU!
So hi. A few of you probably met me this weekend (Most of you wont have) Hosting some whupin lag free GEARS OF WAR matches this weekend. What a game, unless your that one guy who popped into our game session to talk about he much he hates it (But then still played for three hours all the while singing the praises of R6 Vegas and slamming the GEARS!)

Anyway, we all got to talking, as you do in the smashing community that is XBOX Live, and got into a discussion about gamer tags. What they mean. Some hillarious moments occured as an Aussie asked one of my Maori mates what his gamer tag meant and he said... "It's my name bro... You never heard of 'Indigenous peoples?'"

OK, well I laughed. Anyway, we all threw down about how we got our gamertags. Turns out JohnTNZ was just a guy called John T-something from NZ, but others had some great stories. So, here is a forum where we can all tell the amazing and captivating story behind our gamer tags. Unless there allready is one...

So, My name is actually Steve. But I got the gamer tag CHONGO back in the old days of the PS2. When the xbox was just an itch in it's billionare daddys wallet. Has anyone seen the movie DETROIT ROCK CITY? You havn't, we'll, you're not a geek till you've seen a movie about KISS. I was livin with a few dudes and one of them, a skinny guy with the nickname Flea, loved to doll out nicknames to folk. We were watching D.R.C, and there is this big lug in it called Chongo. I also am a big lug. Flea often used to call on me to help his skinny but with tasks that required a huge dude, he used to say 'Hey Steve!' (no reference to strong bad intended) but, after the line in the movie 'Hey Chongo...!' it all changed. And in that strange way nick names do, it stuck. And for over five years, nearly everyone I know including my wonderful girlfriend, calls me Chongo.

Unfortunately, like all good tags, Chongo was allready taken. Probably by a person for whom that is actually there name. So there, on the end, we proudly and patriotacally (Spelling?) tak on the NZ.

This does however, lead to alot of Americans who I'm sure don't know many country acronims outside of USA , calling me Chongonz (chong-gonze) believeing me to be one of those people who mixes up the caps and lower case in my gamer tag. Maybe one day it'll have have to change to x Chongo x or some such...  naa, I'm too proud to be a Kiwi gamer!

Man write a whole novel on how you got your name, well mines quite simple really, I liked pure pwnage to the point of dam near obsession so my mates called me pwnage boy. but tht aint such a great nick so when I was signing up for x-lan I put x3pwnage (x cos I got an x in my name (Alex) and 3 just thought it sounded cool.) so theres my simple yet boring way of how I got my name.

Whoa, yeah, the "spacies", yeah, I remember. With just the three letter tag to work with, who wouldn't have typed TIT, come on, it was me, all those years, ha!

As for my GT, there's always some bugger who has "Kiwi" on every blimmin site from Digg to MySpace so I can always claim to be "the other kiwi" coz it's always available :-)

After using numerous online names, I needed a new one for a Clan I joined way back. At that stage my cousins and I had a fad with RC cars that used swappable car model shells. I had a Dodge Stratus, and the rest is history!

Years back I had a unique talent for taking various Mitsubishi's and turning them into unspeakably fast machines, I've branched out into other brands these days, most folks in the real world just call me Monster now, but online I'm globally known as Monsterbishi.

My Gamertag is real simple.

I got it a couple of years ago back in high school. I got the Nickname BORIS because i crippled the school computer network. One day about a year later also at school I got real pissed off at the PE teacher for not letting me play rugby (because im not supposed too) so I beat the s*#t out of him and he ended up in hospital. So my mate gave me the nickname BIGbadBORIS because of the above incidents and because im quite I big Guy.

And it has stuck with me since.

ACompleteMuppet I like that, my understanding of muppet is police slang for Most Useless Police Person Ever Trained, so if anypne is keen next time they get a ticket.

Any how Angry Medic came about in The Day Of Defeat days, there was a group of us (not a clan, Angry has never been and never will be a "clan") who played togeather at a internet cafe, the name first came about cause I had a bad day working as a volunteer ambo So I put in Angry Medic(i had been using Status Zero), every one else liked it and so spawned Angry Driver (now Truckie) and Angry House *** (a stay at home dad). sad I know, but it is open to all that wish to use it. You become Angry (insert occupation here)

Bugbite Swords, well this is a long story so ill cut it short for ya, A long time ago i was at my friends place and he set up one of those Zone.com accounts (now msn gaming) and i had see this name bugbite on there so i sugested bugbite2 and thats how it started, although the other story involves me and some bugs that bit me and made my forehead swell up, all in all its a very complex story of plagerisum, ichyness and mentel development. However Bugbite Swords is the name i tend to use all over the internet so if you see me somewhere dont forget to stop by and say hi.

Re: Gamer Tags

Great thread guys.

SoulFate is a name that's stuck with me ever since I was in high school. I made up the name one day while sitting in the science lab trying to find inspiration for a name for my new band. I saw a bottle of sulphuric acid, thought of sulfate, and thought it was awesome! As it turned out we ended up spelling the name Soul:Fate - two very important ingredients in the recipe of life I'd say. But as you can't have a : in your GT, it became SoulFate.

Originally I signed up to Live through the 9mth Aussie trial, and it was already stipulated that any GT used for these accounts would NOT carry over when the service finally reached NZ. Knowing this I wanted to save SoulFate for my 'real' account (changing your name was a strict NO at the time), so I'm otherwise known as KrazyKiwi, which basically just popped into my head thinking about a disposable name that let people know I rep NZ!!! (Except for the idoit americans that stupidly drawl "How can a fruit be crazy?") God help them all.

SoulFate

Re: Gamer Tags

my gamer tag came from a long line of change..i used to flip around and change it all the time - brook263, maverik, Kwantm and Karbon  (the last two i still use seldomly - more for games where a name with 'the' in it wouldnt look right) but this one stuck.

it came from a time when i was very into manga. a drawing i saw of a glowing white reaper with a shadowed face and black cape, floating above a dark, gloomy and desolate valley, filled with a destroyed industrial area gave me the inspiration. my mates think the name is kinda girly but i dont really care - i liked it at the time and thats all that matters - and they never saw the gnarly picture.

Its really awesome to see how peoples gamertags and other gaming identities have developed over their whole gaming 'career' (if you will) and that they arent just random. it really shows how diverse our community can be. Thanks for sharing your ideas - its really cool!
