I bought this game when I bought my xbox360 recently, and thought I was sure to get a good game as the reviews have been great. But frankly, I haven't been more bored with any game.

The graphics are nothing special. It's ok, but it's not excactly next-gen. It's marginally better than NFSMW on PS2.
It is not possible to damage the cars.
It is no point in buying cars as the cars you race agaings, and the time/kudos to beat are matced to the car you are racing.
The tracks are very flat and not very interessting.

Am I playing the same game as everybody else? How can people think this is fun?

pgr3 isint about damaging car its a test off skill ive never been more impressed with a racing  game if u want cars to have damage try saints row

Car damage is something that ads to realism. But not even this did they manage to do in this "next-gen" title....

true, the only possible damage is the paints peeling off the sides when u scape against the walls, and thats not considered damage, but i do recall my hood flying off at one point i forgot how long it took my to pop it off, hmm i think 9 minutes or more, but its only a certain car

this isn't a sim you ***. its a arcade type racer, car damage would ruin performance. SO of coure their just gonna add paint scratch and dents, and thats all it needs. SO whoever the threadstarter is, shut up and go play halo
GoW is extremely overhyped and overrated. Dont fall into the trap and buy fear.

Re: What am I not getting with PGR3?
I thought the 360 was all about great performance? If its not even capable of doing car damage in games, then it's not much of a game console. But then again I don't really care, as you can see in previous posts, I've come to the conclusion that PGR3 is just not a bad game, and thats why it doesn't have great gameplay.

If you can't be bother to read to whole thread, don't bother posting and don't tell me to shut up.

Re: What am I not getting with PGR3?

Have you not ever noticed that car damage is minimal or completely non existant in games which have licenses to real world car models?  Where as only games which have fictional cars have damage.  There's a reason for this, I'll let you think about it and figure it out on your own...it has nothing to do with the consoles performance...

I'm enjoying PGR3 myself because it doesn't force me to buy upgrades for my cars.  I personally couldn't give a rats @$$ what kind of tires I'm driving.  It's not the most intense racer around, but it's fun enough for me until Burnout 5 is released.

This just may not be your cup of tea, but it is a very good, well made game.  It's a game I still encourage everyone to have in thier Xbox 360 library of games.

Well, I've played Grand Turismo, Need for Speed and Burnout on PS2, and I like sim quality (GT4), I like destruction (Burnout) and I like police chasing (NFSMW),  but PGR3 has none of the above. I would say its an arcade racer, but they failed to make a fun concept other than racing on poorly designed tracks.

I really cant see why you should encourage everybody to have this title in their library. If this is one of the best games for 360, then I must say that I regret not waiting for PS3.

Poorly designed tracks? Thats funny. Why don't you put in PGR2 on Nurburgring, then race Nurburgring on PGR3, and tell me its still poor detail. As I was racing down Las Vegas, I went in photo mode and looked at the stores on the Strip, which are the actual stores in Vegas. I would know, since I have a second home there. This is one of the most realistic racing games out. If you are saying any NFS is more realistic and better detailed, you need help, seriously.

I have not played Forza Motorsport, but I've been looking at the videos and articles about Forza 2, and I think it looks very good. I'm looking forward to it and hoping it will be even better than GT.

I'm not a fanboy. I just expect quality. I've previously been playing alot on PC and more recently on PS2 slim. And I was very excited buying the "next-gen" console xbox 360 and I racing game with great reviews. Playing Table Tennis (a great game!), PGR3 and Oblivion, I must say that I'm far from impressed. The games dosen't have much better graphics than an average gamer-pc and are not yet more entertaining than the big PS2 titles. And I think the noise-level is ridicoulus. But I will not sell my console as I see some promosing titles in the future like Forza 2, Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Alan wake, NFS Carbon etc. I will just be abit more annoyed with it than I hoped.

I won't turn this into a thread about noise or PS3. I stared this thread to see if I could get som new insight about PGR3, to see if there were any point in playing it some more, or if I should just sell it. And I think I have gotten my answer. I will sell it for sure.

I would expect to find Carbon in your list....

I played it on the regular Xbox, I prefer the first PGR much better.....

You need to read what I write before you post. See if you can find a quote where I say that NFS is more realistic and detailed if you can.....

Re: What am I not getting with PGR3?

PGR3 is merely a track racing game with a few dents and dings thrown in for effect.

It is a great arcade style racer with no storylines or plots. It is simply a plug and play game that rewards you with trophies and acheivements for playing longer. That's it. The graphics are pretty amazing, ( have only had the 360 for a week). And I say that they are amazing because it's hooked up to my 15 year old sears tv in the rec room.

In terms of gameplay. I have played nearly every racer for the xbox, ps2 and ps1, as well as the old n65, nes, snes, etc...

By far, the best racing game is forza. I cannot wait until Forza 2 comes out. PGR series of games are good games. They have better than most graphics. They have simplistic cars ( no kits, turbochargers or NOS to worry about). The soundtracks have always been decent.

I can go on and on about a pile of xbox racers... largely because I pretty much sold them all yesterday. :) No use, never played them anymore... I ended up dumping about 32 xbox games yesterday. Got myself some nice shiny new 360 games... :)

Re: What am I not getting with PGR3?
it's all quite simply really

it just ain't PGR2

end of story and MS wont make PGR2 BC because everyone will jump ship from the launch title PGR3 to a game nearly 3 yrs old which is still far superior in game play

Re: What am I not getting with PGR3?

OK fine, no one wants to take a guess as to the answer of my previous post so I'll just say it:

No major car company has ever, or will ever allow their cars to be presented with damage to the extreme that the same accedent in the real world could be fatal!  The automobile industry is the largest in the world with a lot at stake.  It's not good for the image of the car/company, it risks lawsuits from retards who like to act out what they see in video games (you know, like poorly parented children who shoot cops as they see in GTA, or PS3 fanboys who kill each other for a $h!tty unproven, HalfHD console).  Car companies don't want Rockstar's reputation.  Also a videogame can never simulate the realism of a crash specific to every millimeter of the car's structure as the car companies spend $millions on testing in real world crash tests.  Asking for a racing game with both real car licenses and realistic crashes is ridiculous, like asking Microsoft to release an OS without vulnerabilities.  It's not going to happen!

(No offense MS, I'll still be buying Vista :-)

Re: What am I not getting with PGR3?

Well, Forza 2 will probably be the closest thing to GT.  If a demo is ever released, you should give that a try.  I have the original, and I thought it was fun.  Very similar to GT in my opinion.  I don't have PGR 1 or 2, but I am enjoying PGR 3.  I love the drifting in this game.  Sadly I am not as good as the guy in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8YcjgarsS0, but I still love this game.

I do love this game, I just hadn't played it for a while.  Out of all the racing games I have for the 360, this one is the best.  With all the new games coming out though, it kinda got lost in the shuffle.  You are right though, I love Gears.  I can't get enought of that game.

Maybe you were playing the game on bronze or silver. Try a few races on platinum, you literally can't make more than 1 or 2 little mistakes.
