That was Funny! I played against Benoit in high school! He was dominant in H.S.! But after that! I think he got a reality check and realized he didn't have what it took after H.S. ball! IMO I think he got caught up in the hype & thought he was automaticaly going to be great! Instaed of working hard and learning and earning to get to high status! To bad! He had promise!

Best Player: easily, easily, easily MJ. No question. And I hated MJ with the Bulls. MJ only became the dealiest shooter and one of the best defenders at the same time. Who gets MVP and Defensive POY in the same year? (87-88) No one could do that now. These new kids don't have skills like this anymore.> Best Shooter: Larry Bird or Reggie Miller. > Best Dunker: Dominique Wilkins or MJ. > Best Rebounder: Bill Russell by far. > Best Passer: Oscar Robertson and Magic a close 2nd. Who now, or ever, has come close to averaging a triple double but Oscar? my top 3 would be: 1. MJ 2. Russel 3. Oscar

Best player of All-Time? ...Michael Jordan from my Bulls... hands down...

But, let's ask this question. Which two players made the biggest impact when they played together? ...Michael Jordan, and Scottie Pippen... that's my option...

Now, let's ask this. Who was the craziest player to play the game? ...Dennis Rodman (dont forget, he was a monster on the boards too)... once again, from the Bulls...

...I love my Bulls Stick out tongue [:P]

1. Michael Jordan-nuff said. best offensive player, best defense player(twice named def player of year). 6 finals,6 rings, 6 Finals MVP. Greatest competitor.

2. Bill Russell-10 fingers, 11 rings. Change the way the game was played

3. Oscar Robertson- Invented the triple double, averaged triple double in 1 season !!

4. Magic Johnson-most versatile, could dominate a game at every position. Started C as a rookie in NBA Finals in game 6 vs.76ers and had 42 pts,15 reb and 7 assists. At age 20, had already won a NCAA ring, NBA ring and Finals MVP. Contrary to belief, Magic is greatest 20 year old to ever play the game, not Lebron.

5. Larry Bird-Best SF to ever play game.

MUGS1217 got it all right...these playters he chose all change the game and evrybody else try and do build on what they introduced us to.

MJ

Never before did the gane see such a fierce competitor that could do it all and id it all, shoot, drive, defend, and do it better than anyboy in the game during his era no doubt and debatable that it was better than anyone in the history (Kobe, T-Mac, and them all are trying to be MJ)

Magic

Never did a 6'9 man dribble, pass and play the point before Magic (Now evey team have big men bringing the ball up...Pippen as the point forward)

Oscar

Never did anyone rebound, pass, and score like the Big O...(Lebron stated that he want to average a triple double for a year like Oscar)

Russell

Now his game change how big men used size and skill to play defense plus the greates champion in SPORTS 11 rings won't be touched. (Shaq will not make it even with Flash)

Bird

Never has a big non athletic man use his talents to win not games but championships and build dynasties after a down perior in a storied franchise. Boston is still tring to reload. Plus Bird was the best big man shoor and clutch player in histor...Miller tried but Miller has not rings and Tyshaun would  not have caught Bird layup like he did miller)

This tread is over because this is the anwser..LOL

Take MJ in his prime and drop him on this current LA Lakers team, minus Kobe, and please tell me how many rings you'd think MJ would be good for? hmmm... Surprise [:O]

6? I don't think so, maybe 4 probably could have pulled it off that last year before Shaq left.

Still no comparison. Kobe's a great player don't get me wrong, but if you put MJ on the current Laker's squad it would remind me of the Bulls first threepeat with Lamar Odom taking the Scottie Pippen role. Except that Odom is a much better player than Pip was at that time. Kobe will never win another title with these current Lakers, he doesn't have the ability to make others better the way MJ did. He's not a stopper on D, and most importantly he's not a KILLER! So my answer is 6, and if you added Shaq? hmmmm.....  you'd have to change the salary cap cause it wouldn't be fair.

No comparison? What's your basis? If you break down their skill assets, what each brings to the court, MJ does not have a clear cut edge over Kobe in a single category besides dunking. The Lakers were 1 game away from topping the Suns in the playoffs last year, so I wouldn't even rule out another ring for Kobe so soon.

To say that he doesn't make others better is totally missing the mark IMO. Kobe is great at setting his players up and seeing the court and making some great dishes.  Jordan averaged 5.3 APG with much better talent around him and Kobe averages 4.5 APG. So, where's the huge discrepancy? There isn't any.

Kobe isn't a stopper on D?? 6-time All-Defensive Team Selection.

He's not a killer?? 81 points in a much needed victory for his team (Many analysts say his 81 points were more impressive than Wilt’s 100). Averaged 35 PPG, while being one of the most clutch shooters in the league. C'mon now.

The only thing that's making us look silly is not realizing that Kobe is on the same level as Jordan, but people will never realize this because Kobe doesn't have the marketing and PR team that Jordan had behind him.

Like i said Kobe strives to pattern his game after the greatest, you can compare that. Kobe has the best numbers across the board for a 2 spot in the league for several years. He is a great player, and is arguably the greatest player in the game NOW. He is nowhere near the greatest of all time.

However if you're trying to compare the talent level on the 90-93 Bulls and the 99-02 Lakers its clearly evident. MJ made that team as good as it was cause they had  next to nobody, let alone arguably the best center ever as did the Lakers. The Lakers would never have won three in a row without Shaq. And on making your teamates better this is the perfect example. After Shaq was gone Kobe led the Lakers to watching the playoffs on tv.

Which leads me as to him not having that killer instinct. If your a killer you do not go fishin in may and june. And you don't let players like Raja Bell get in your head and take you out of the game. Plain and simple.

Having said all that IMO Kobe being 28 still has a chance. I'm not a hater. But he ain't on MJ's level. He still has a good 5 years to get there, i just don't see it happening. And I'm very glad because its players like him and MJ that have made the league what it is today. Its come along way from getting to watch the all-star game and Dr.J winning the title in game 4 of the 83 Finals to watching a exciting game every night.

Re: The Greatest Player of ALLTIME (your call)
Sadly sometimes people refuse to admit that basketball is in fact a team sport. At times the NBA can seem like a one man show, but when it's all said and done it takes a true team effort to win.

Kobe is great, but he can't work miracles, not even Jordan would have led that Lakers team to the playoffs. You cannot tell me that the Lakers squad two years ago was better than the likes of Ron Harper, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Luc Longley, Stever Kerr, and Toni Kucoc. I don't care how good Jordan was fact remains he always had one heck of a squad around him and would not have won 6 rings without that type of All Star supporting cast. It's a team sport. I know it's easy to forget about the guys around him because the media only focused on MJ, but you have to realize that he did have a great group of players with him.

That lineup blows the doors off the likes of Odom, Mihm, Butler, Sasha, and George.

If Jordan made his players so much better then why does he only average a single assist over Kobe?

btw when Jordan retired for a year, these so called bad players that Jordan made incredibly better went 55-27 without him, and won in the first round of the playoffs.
