Re: This Week in Xbox: Column feedback, discussion, Q&A, etc.

Hello

Can you help?

I recently bought xbox360. My television is HD ready. To connect for HDTV, the xbox360 manuel tells me to flip the switch, on the HD AV cable, then insert the green, red, blue connectors into the ports on my television. The television is brand new, but does not have green, red, blue ports. Is there perhaps another cable i should source? Reading the television manuel and xbox manuel together does'nt solve the problem. The television support recomends to contact xbox360. Could you solve the problem,or point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

LoveBud: I haven't seen any Warhammer titles announced for the 360 or any console, but if you like strategy games, Command and Conquer 3 looks really promising. Did you play Battle for Middle Earth II?

JC 12 10: You're looking for Component inputs on the HDTV. I haven't seen an HDTV yet that doesn't have them. Maybe check the TV manual for reference to "component?" If all else fails, a VGA cable is available if your HDTV has a VGA input. What model HDTV is it?

Re: This Week in Xbox: Column feedback, discussion, Q&A, etc.
i have a wish/suggestion, and perhaps its the wrong place to post this but since someone from xbl actually monitors this it might get back to the folks that can fix it. my first game purchase was ghost recon advance warfighter. my first experience and subsequently every experience with that games multiplayer has been horrible. first off the constant crashs on launch that require either a hard reset of the console,or there's the immediate crash on launch. litterally everytime i play out of 10 attempts to get into a multiplayer game 9 fail due to either of the 2 problems. so my suggestion is maybe xbl can maybe lean a little harder on there game developers to fix problems or even some server maintance on things like that. cause it doesnt look good when im trying to convince 6 of my pc gamer friends (fed up with the constant hard upgrading to play new games) to buy the 360 when i cant even demonstrate the ease of multiplayer to them due to constant crashing. for the record this is the only game i have that problem with but i'd hate to see this becoming a ok thing seeing as how G.R.A.W.2 is comming out but the problems hasent been addressed yet for G.R.A.W 1.

Gears sucks now with the updates. they didn't really fix much, and the lag is a lot worse. They need a new update to fix the lag definitely. Who agrees

I can't really comment. I never really experience it in Gears of War except in the cases prior to someone falling out of the game.

hi just a quick question editor! xbox live and the updates, i'm very impressed with how they update the hardware on our boxes, but is there any word on 16:10 aspect ratios? they're becomming the norm for a massive chunk of lcd monitors these days, i think the resolution being 1680x1050 or something. Have you heard any news on this? i'd like to see maybe something mentioned in the column about the future of vga and teh 360
please give us 1680x1050 and 1440x900 16:10 vga support thanks!

Firstly, I want to thank MGS for announcing that they're publishing Tenchu Z (Senran) for the US market a few days ago.

I made a forum topic a few weeks ago inquiring about this particular title, and it's great to see this become a reality.  How long was MGS pursuing this title?  Does this mean we're likely to see more Japanese-only 360 games published and released in the US?  I know that the Official Xbox Mag occassionally distributes a Japanese title on their demo disc, and I wonder if MS takes any feedback regarding these titles into consideration?

Re: This Week in Xbox: Column feedback, discussion, Q&A, etc.

This may already be around, but here goes....Does xbox live have a "buddy program"?  What I mean by that is, lets say you are on a particular part of a game that is co-op enabled and you are having trouble or something of the sort, would it be possible to find someone that has the same problem and double team it, in a sense?  I know we have the forums and can post questions, but wouldn't this be a cool feature to have if you get stuck on a particular part of a game, just hit your middle button on the controller and find someone who would help, kinda like a guide?  Maybe that is just crazy talk, but I have ran across times when I was thinking, 'Man I wish someone could help me' during a game.  Well I enjoyed the column.  Thanks.

Similar question to what has already been asked higher up. I have noticed when my buddys come online and they are playing a game or in a lobby, the join button isn't always highlighted.

It would be nice that when a friend comes online i can bring his name up and just click JOIN BUDDY and it will take me to whereever he is, wether it ingame or in lobby.

I play R6las vegas alot and sometimes i spend hours...well minutes refreshing server list just waiting for the same server my mates in to show up so i can join.

Surely it isnt just me???

Ummm... Sounds like the Invite to Game option in the dashboard. Whenever you are playing a game on Live, you can access the dashboard, list your friends, bring up their details page and choose the afore-mentioned option. If they accept the request and the game is joinable, they'll be there. If they are playing some other game but accepted the request, the system even asks them to insert the correct game disc to get you two hooked up.

Hey guys, sorry it's taken me a while to respond. Busy week at work! (Okay, busy week at work when you factor in playing Crackdown ;-)

I need to clarify something: I work for Xbox.com, the web site, and I can influence features on the site itself. But when it comes to console features, Xbox Live features, movies, game bugs, adding a web browser to the 360, etc., that's out of the scope of stuff I can address directly. I mean, hey, if I was in charge of this kind of stuff, you'd be playing classic flight sims like Red Baron on Xbox Live Arcade with your hot new wireless joystick. So maybe it's good that I'm not.

Thanks to all of you who made suggestions for the site, and for the console. When I can, I'll pass on the console suggestions to the right folks. The best place to send console feature/bug suggestions is actually to Major Nelson at major@xbox.com. Larry's part of the Live team, and can get the suggestion to the right folks.

Blackjack: Nope, I haven't heard about new resolutions. I'll pass those resolution requests on to Major Nelson, though.

Jizo Statue: As far as the Japanese titles goes, I imagine the decisions on bringing in more of them will depend on how much appeal those titles have to an American audience. If Tenchu Z and Blue Dragon do really well here, I'm sure you'll see lots more.

SB2000: That would be a pretty cool feature... Sort of an "invite to co-op" feature that looked for someone who was in a similar point in the game. Nothing like that now, but I'll spread the idea around!

LORDxSaint: That's exactly what I'm hoping we can start doing soon. Stay tuned!

TheColdWolf: Best resource for figuring out how to get 1000 Gamerscore on your games is http://www.xbox360achievements.org. Great site.

LaRoyce: They never announce timing on updates like there. There was just an update about a month ago. If there are specific titles you'd like to see added to the backwards-compatible list, e-mail backcompat@microsoft.com. They read every mail, and consider those when looking at titles.

Eldon covered the questions on the Join button... Thanks!

Hope I got everyone here. I'll be sure to post more often. Nice to see so much activity in the topic now!

Re: This Week in Xbox: Column feedback, discussion, Q&A, etc.

I am about to upgrade to xbox live gold, but stumbled across a thread ,a few days ago, where people were complaining about other gamers (immature children after being badly  beatin, or just plain mean) that are just selecting the person's gamertag (that beat them) and getting all their freinds to place complaints on the person; till they are suspended or banned. After reading that i'm not so sure if I want  to put up with that. Could you (editor) give me some info on if this is true or even possible? If so, than is there any tips you can give me on how to handle a situation like that?

Ok wrong phrase...my bad...lets start again.

My mate is already on when i join, and when you go to his gamertag to see where he is or what he doing, sometimes it says...ie fr34ky is preparing for battle, fr34ky is fighting in sharpshooter, etc etc. it would be nice if there was an option to join him. and play where he is playing. I am aware there is an invite player, but if he is already in a good server it would be more advantagous for me to join then pull him out and end up in a laggy server.

I hope this clears things up, sorry for any confusion but i have only had xbox live gold for 2 weeks now...so i a noob :)

Thanks for previous reply tho
