Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.
Something else that helps for people using Linksys routers (BESFR41 models or those with a similar interface/firmware). If you login to your router => Security => Make sure 'Filter multicast' is enabled. Save changes. This should fix any problems you're having with extender. If you have McAfee, it shouldn't be a problem and neither should Windows Firewall (as long as UPnP is enabled and allowed). If you run the Windows Media Extender software rather than Zune or Media player, it works rather quickly. Just some tips for those that may be having problems.

I have now got both zune and TVersity installed, and going to try both to see which is the easier to use, If I can work out how to get my movie downloads on the zune i may go with that one.

Re: RE: Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.
Hope someone can help out with this.   Same issues as this thread.
Xbox 360 connected with wireless connection and is connected to windows live
Laptop wireless is also connected.  (Running vista Home Premium)

I have tried all the suggestions about stopping the Media Centre Sharing Serivce, clearing the DRM with regedit, it now just reads 0000 ??

The laptop can see the xbox360 in network centre.  It can even be pinged.

The xbox 360 can't see the laptop

have also checked the router and upnp is running.    Have been on phone to Microsoft tech support for over an hour today and its being escalated to 2nd line.   Anyone got any further ideas, help they can give

Also meant to say has previously worked perfectly with the xbox connected to laptop with ethernet and ICS sharing, but since bought the wireless network adaptor for the xbox, it won't connect to laptop at all

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.

I did pretty much the same as this guy being a bit of a flid.
You say "manually create a DRM" but I can't seem to do this.
I rebooted Windows media, then looked in REGEDIT and the binary code was still not there again, is this a serious problem?
Thank you for the info and help, but was it important to mention the DRM?  That simply confused me.   Nothing seems to be going wrong on my computer right now but I am hoping there is no serious reprecussions to this?
I had tried to create a new binary value too.
This leaves a redundant icon with no binary data.
I mean if this code was only needed to find the file path?
Oh dear.
I thank you in advance for any help that can be offered.

In the new window called "Edit Binary Value" it should list the datapath to your drm folder along the rightside, itll look kind of scrambled. *
OK? so what do i do about that?

10) Double-Click the "DRM" folder, Click Edit -> Select All. Then Delete
Ok soo i double click it nothing comes up.. now what?

owell i just right clicked and deleted DRM because nothing happend after douvling clicking it so now what do i do?
well then i just finished off with the rest of the instructions as you have said and nothing worked.

The italics part is only for people who cant find the DRM folder after steps 8 and 9. The italics part will tell you where the DRM folder is located.

In the "edit binary value" window, do you see a directory path? its scrambled up ... mine reads like this:

.C.:.\.D.

o.c.u.m.

e.n.t.s.

.a.n.d.

.S.e.t.

t.i.n.g.

s.\.A.l.

l. .U.s.

e.r.s.\.

D.R.M.

Which essentially reads out to: C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\DRM

So once you get that directory path , GO to that directory and continue on with step 11.

yes it did read out to that.. but i deleted the drm folder.. how can i get it back lol.. i ade a mistake but i was mad at my 360 and wanted to stream music over asap so i rushed and did the wrong thing

thanks for your help i really apperciated it and you desereve a higher cul than 1.. but it still hasn't fixed my problem ill continue of of with what your saying tommorw because i got to go to bed now.
Thanks again.

I had tried to create a new binary value too.
This leaves a redundant icon with no binary data.- Upon looking back at REGEDIT it says 'Zero length binary  value'.
Either way this is my wife to be's computer and I don't want her coming on here to find I broke some sort of registry, heh, so one does need to recover it.

I mean if this code was only needed to find the file path? Then what were we to do with such information?
Oh dear.

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.
I cannot believe this worked, I have been trying all different things on different postings.  Everything seemed like it was media sharing and my media center link worked...I had to figure out the differences in Windows Vista...but it worked perfectly...I had two DRM folders but followed the one in the regedit datalink.  Somehow things got corrupted when I recently upgraded my motherboard (with onboard LAN), CPU, and memory.  You rock!

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.
I have also tried everything posted here, and even rolled back my PC to XP SP2, and still cannot use WMP11. Sure I can use TVersity again to share media, but that doesn't do any good with game that can use custom playlists.

I really wish MS would verify this issue and patch it...very frustrating.

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.
My PC and Xbox aren't seeing each other, and I've tried everything suggested in this thread.  I can't even ping the Xbox unless it's during the connection test.  Otherwise it doesn't show up in my network or in the media sharing menu in WMP.  TVersity doesn't work either.  XBL works normally.  I'm running Vista Home Premium.  Everything worked fine in the past.

Update: If I connect my Xbox and PC directly with an ethernet cable, I can see the Xbox in the network devices list.  Still couldn't get media sharing to work, but it's progress.

Make sure your firewall (windows, mcafee, zone alarm, built-in your router) to allow access to ports TCP 2869, TCP 10243, UDP 1900, UDP 10280 - 10284.

Just spent 2 hours on the phone with XBox Media Center support to get it fixed and it was was router blocking it. After doing everything in this post.

Re: For people having problems with their 360 detecting their PC.
Woohoo! deleting the DRM worked a treat. Thanks.

Only difference was the DRM folder was within a Window Sub-Directory. That's on Vista.

Can't believe the movies work so well over wireless.
